The Philadelphia Flyers added depth to their forward lines
by signing former Bruin Glen Metropolit to a two-year contract. Financial terms
weren’t disclosed.
Metropolit was one of last season’s “feel good” stories,
making the Boston Bruins last season as a training camp invitee and wound up
having the best season of his up-and-down NHL career, with 33 points in 82
games.
He’ll make a good, affordable addition to the Flyers
checking lines.
I watched Metropolit in the ECHL in the 90's--great to see him still around. One of the few great ECHL scorers to make it in the NHL, albeit as a checker.
Paul Holmgren looks to be collecting junk this offseason ! We've downgraded by trading RJ Umberger...which I THOUGHT was done to have some room to sign even one of the second tier d-men in free agency ! All I see is a downgrade. We fans can only hope some of these no name aquisitions are hidden gems. I'm scratching my head as to what the Flyers are trying to do.
