nice picking. you kind put your neck out with Florida, but otherwise not bad.

I had the Northwest. as 1. Calgary 2. Minnesota 3. Colorado 4. Vancouver 5. Edmonton.
(it might still end up that way)

I'd say that the biggest surprise is Montreal. Who would have thought Montreal finishing first in the NE. or 1st in the eastern conf.?

In tradition with opening my mouth too early here is the playoff predictions.

Eastern final: Penguins and Canadiens
Western final: Sharks and Ducks (yuck)
Stanley cup: Sharks and Penguins
CHampion: Sharks.

1) A post that is about 10 days premature. With 10+ points still up for grabs for most teams, final positioning can't/won't be known until next Sunday

FR5: Given the standings over the last six months or so, five games likely won't make or break Spector's predictions (or yours, or anyone else's).

As for my picks, they sucked audibly!

Teams I expected in the playoffs who likely won't be:

Florida
St. Louis
Los Angeles
Columbus
Chicago
Tampa Bay

However, I can still take solace in the fact that the Islanders and Sabres didn't disappoint me. Remember when LGB swore to us all that the Sabres were still contenders? :D

Looks like you did pretty good! Good job! I'm glad you thought my Pens would win from the start! GO PENS!

Have a good weekend, Spector!

It's awfully brave of Spector rehash his own predictions.

I can't believe all the 'experts' had the Habs missing the playoffs... and all had them behind the Leafs...

I certainly didn't expect them to challenge for the conference lead, but they seemed like a solid playoff team from the preseason...

Montreal was pretty much a gamble in the preseason; it all depended on how well the youngsters would do.

Happily it turned out pretty good.

Hmmm... Sounds like we won't be hearing from OntarioFlamesFan for quite a while! [*grin*]

All good natured rivalry aside, Calgary is pretty much guaranteed to win the Stanley Cup this year. Consider:

In 2002, the Carolina Hurricanes lost Stanley Cup Final Series, but four years later in 2006 they won the Cup.

In 2003, the Anaheim Ducks lost the Stanley Cup Final Series, but four years later in 2007 they won the Cup.

In 2004, the Calgary Flames lost the Stanley Cup Final Series, but four years later in 2008...

(Now, if it wasn't for the lockout disrupting a perfectly good pattern I could start planning the parade on Jasper Avenue for 2010!)

I think everybody picked Ottawa to run away with there division. Well, seems like nobody picked the Habs to do anything.

Barry Melrose talked about Ottawa so much I stopped listening to him and his BS. Now Barry likes the Habs in the east. Barry, it's a little late to jump on the bandwagon.

Phil, come on! Why not the Habs? Look at there depth and youth.. Gainey is brilliant.

Hey Spector, How about them Washington Capitals?

Yes, how about them Caps. It was a late season run for the ages, and I was cheering for them to make it.

I have been a season ticket holder for the Caps for 8 years now, and I must say that it was alot of fun!!!
