The Buffalo Sabres wasted little time landing a replacement for the recently-traded Martin Biron, acquiring Ty Conklin from the Columbus Blue Jackets for a fifth round pick.
Bit of a risky pickup for the Sabres, as Conklin really struggled over the past two seasons, which included coughing up a fluky game-winning goal in Game One of the 2006 Stanley Cup Finals.
Conklin won’t see much playing time on the Sabres as they’ll go with Ryan Miller the rest of the way. This move was likely done more as an affordable fit for cap space, as the Sabres may still be looking to bolster their depth elsewhere on the roster.
If Miller gets injured in the playoffs, however, Sabres fans will be holding their breaths.
A bag a pucks might be overpaying.
The same comparison was made yesterday, but instead of a bag of pucks it was a cheese sandwich and it was for Bertuzzi. Ironically most of the guys on the show "primetime" took the sandwich

Your last line says it all, Spector. I'm really disappointed right now but again, I'll save my reviews for when the trade deadline passes because I dont think the Sabres are done trading yet.
I don't know. If you go by his tenure this year, he actually does have 2 wins. The bad thing for Conklin is that Hitch played him against Nashville alot. Nashville has owned us this year no matter who has been in net.
I try not to let my personal feelings seep into my blog too much, but I have not been a Conklin fan at all pre-acquisition from the free agent market through this season at all. He has been a shaky backup at best in a season that he has been called upon due to injuries to our #1 and #2. If I were a Buffalo fan, I would not feel right with this at all.
I called a few sources. One did not know the terms and the other told me that it would be made available in a press release. Hmph. Damn people that play by the rules.
Conklin was not in game 1 dyawne rollison started the game and got hurt then markenen came and played the rest of game 1 and the rest of the series.Conklin was not on the edmonton roster for the playoffs. They got rollison from minnesota who caried them threw the playoffs.
Conklin's addition doesnt really make me feel very secure as a Sabres fan. Id rather have seen Buffalo add Boucher or Leighton off of waivers than waste a pick on a guy whose not been able to establish himself on a weaker team such as Columbus. Trading Biron frees up cap space but for what now? The rumor was Kevyn Adams was a target but reports out of TSN say he resigned today for 1 yr. Now what Darcy Regier?
Hands off Boucher. I am 100% hoping that this trade was in the works already and that Columbus was smart enough to pick him up off of waivers for the remainder of the season. Leclaire is likely on IR for the rest of the season and we can't keep taking goaltending away from Syracuse.
