With NFL preseason coming to a close...there are some thoughts and/or conclusions that come to mind about which I will now blog: 1. Brady Quinn had a good preseason so does that make for a QB controversy at the Browns? It also makes me feel bad about dogging him for his hold out during camp because I thought he was thinking too highly of himself. 2. My Pack - I'm finally feeling better about our Aaron Rodgers draft pick as a back up for Favre. The jury has been out until now though! He had a good preseason also...in some games better than Favre (although he obviously played more), but I don't want to get too hasty either. 2a. I'm frustrated that we STILL have problems in the red zone - we had that last year (with both my Pack and Bama - yikes). 2b. Concerned about Driver's injury especially since they haven't really addressed his diagnosis after all those tests! Favre is clearly confident with him more than anyone for obvious reasons - this may force Favre to get comfortable really quick with some newer guys...which brings me to the last point under 2 2c. Throw to Jennings more...he's got skills and Jones the rookie has proved himself as well. Rodgers does ok with mixing up his receivers, but Favre didn't during preseason that much and when he did and they didn't catch it he blamed them for running the wrong route...come on, Brett, I'm obviously a huge fan of yours, but if they don't catch the pass it's not ALWAYS their fault! 3. I expected with all the "starter" hype after camp on Brodie Croyle that he'd look a little bit better than he did. He didn't live up to the hype even though I truly wanted him to. I'll hold up on anymore judgment there until we get to the real season 4. Preseason is exciting in only one context: we're starving for some real football by that point and look forward to that first game so much and then it's the brick wall every time...even I fell asleep during 3rd quarter of the Packers game!! Even still, I'll be going this week to Nashville so that I can see the Pack play the Titans - now that I'm excited about even though it is preseason...nothing like being there live!
Ok - another topic that's semi-related: ESPNU's Summer House. Since preseason is what it is and I'm also a reality TV junkie, my husband and I have gotten into this show. It's pretty cool and I respect Chris Spielman as a person. He's the "house dad" to these 6 incoming freshman football players from different parts of the country while they live together and compete through different challenges for "king of the house". Apparently it's the 2nd season of this show, but I've just now found it and I'm diggin' it! Check it out.
Well, it's the week leading up to what we've all been waiting for...FOOTBALL SEASON!!! I'm changing my ring tone to the Alabama Fight Song to honor this week and it probably won't change until the season is over. I hope that the Saban Era lives up to the hype...well, then again, I don't think that ANYTHING could live up to that! Roll Tide and Go Pack...FINALLY!!!!
My 2 boys are the joys of my life. It's an adventure, but a joyous one, nonetheless!
The 5th season is my favorite season and that is FOOTBALL SEASON!
Against popular belief, I'm not a Packers fan because of Brett Favre. My late dad (whom I miss every day) was from Milwaukee & even though I was the youngest & the only girl - I was my daddy's son in a way. I was the only child in the family that became obsessed with football & watched it with him every weekend. I hate that he didn't get to go to my first Packers game with me at Lambeau, but I know that he would have been proud that I went!
I love my Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ...He loved me enough to die for me even though I did nothing to deserve it...He did the same for you no matter what you have done-you're never too far gone!
