Hi im a ump. Yes a ump. Wether its blowing a world serise for one team or calling strikes and balls wrong or just calling the wrong call im a ump.
Now heres strike one. What replay we dont need replay im a ump i always call a good game... Listen no you dont. You need replay. The game will still be baseball but just with a little help of the electronics. When football got replay it was still football wasnt it?? It doesnt take anything away but the wrong call...
Now heres strike two. O well i just made one bad call its ok. No no its not. You say its a homerun and its not or vice versa and its your reason that team lost its ok!!!!! Saying someones safe in the world serise and ther out its just OK! Hello lets see a replay..
Strike three. You're out! No no no YOU'RE OUT understand!! With the help of some technology we cane make sure you call right strikes and ball. Hey though maybey there could be likea challenge like in football. wether its a fair ball, or a foul ball, strike, ball, homerun or not. I dont see how this takes the fun out of the game.
Im glad your looking at instant replay baseball... Get it right maybey you should review your meeting by replay!!!!!!!

Afterall these umps aren't meant to be infallible but considering the way they can act on the field at times. My feelings as to their conduct borders on the fact that they're akin to some crazed military leader with a high opinion of himself.

i can ump.. done it b4... i just dont wanna be one. i enjoy my job... actully ive met the cardinals a couple times there very nice to me and my family...
Hey Sodacan80 - The pics are great. Unless you are being sarcastic(I love sarcastic), as an umpire, I would hate getting my calls reversed. On the other hand, they are only considering using replay for questionable Homeruns. People are saying OK, then they'll start reviewing base calls, then balls and strikes. I'm OK with homeruns, they need to get them right. Foul pole shots are tough to call when they are hooking and fan interference can happen. Some stadiums are just hard to tell where they hit if there right on the wall top. Homers only please. Keep the rest of the calls human or ballgames will last 5 hours. Besides, bad calls by umps make exciting player/manager early exits. I really love when they kick dirt and Yadi's catching gear striptease was priceless. See you on Midwest!
Any time you decide to allow your self to be put on a spot as the ruling body yuo open your self up for criticism. Now the media and its desire to control games and influence decisions want to tell us Hey with instant replay we can make it perfect.
Wow thank you very much, but the human elements are what make it special. Yes mistakes are made and yes they can make a difference inits out come. but,thats what made it baseball. Now I know with change things tend to improve,but if we would quit showing replay after replay of the same play it probably would not make any difference. Next they will get rid of the Ump(because with todays tech. they can) and take out the fun of the controversy and allow us to get really board with the whole game.

Jimmy... i would only really like replay for homerun calls... id stil like umps woulnt like technology calling balls and strikes it would take a lot away from the game. thanks for ur post
