Moments later, the Bears are introduced. The place erupts. We’ve got a Chicago crowd, folks. “Ditka”, “Ditka”, “Ditka”—I hear it like a siren’s song. Just echoing. Walking in here, you couldn't take two steps without seeing Bears fans hug and embrace. Touching. It's been 22 years--and they're back.
Billy Joel sings—actually sings, not lip synchs—the National Anthem. Fabulous version, too. Always been a fan of Joel, and having him a part of this Super Bowl is great. Unfortunately, he won’t be the halftime act. Prince will be taking that one on.
People are a little upset by the fact that there was no moment of silence for our troops in Iraq at the Superbowl. I hope they do a tribute at half-time.
Where's Whitney when we need her? I love Joel, but he was a little pitchy there.
By the way....I know the Bears will lose because everytime an opening kickoff is returned, that team loses. (remember usc v iowa in orange bowl or buckeyes v gators?)
The Bears had their hands on their hips in the 2nd -half just like the Patriots did. Face it Bears fans we just flat out over-powered you with our will to stick with our gameplan & never waiver. I have no doubt the Bears will be back, but on this day the SB Ring goes to the Colts. Better luck next year.
