Is NASCAR more important than the Masters in Texas?
Apr 10, 2006 | 7:59AM | report this
Normally I reserve this space for sports observations such as baseball games, and suhc as that. But today I am going off the beaten path to ask, " Is NASCAR bigger than the Masters in Texas?" This question came about last nigth as I was watcing Dale Hansen's sports show. Instead of leading with the Masters, he lead with the NASCAR race at TMS. He took a total of 10-11 minutes to cover NASCAR before he got to the Masters. Now, if you asked 10 people at random in the U.S. which is more important, the Masters or NASCAR, I would gues 7 out of 10 would say Masters. However, come down to Texas and ask 10 people which is more important, and 7 out of 10 will mostly say NASCAR. Also, NASCAR might have led off his show because it was at Texas Motor Speedway. Granted, i like neither of the two, but if I have to choose, Lefty winning the Masters would definatly beat Kahne winning the NASCAR race. That's just one guy's opinion though.

You also would get 8 out of 10 in NC,SC,or Virginia that would agree that nascar is more important. Every news cast with sports in it has a nascar time.

Both are incredibly boring. But as far as which one should take importance, yeah, I would give the edge to Golf.

Well, here we would disagree. In Michigan, while we like golf, NASCAR has blown up as far as popularity goes. Hendrick Motorsports ROCKS!!!
