Everyone knows that the Spurs took care of business last night, but still, they can't get the recognition they deserve. LeBron will be free after next season. I say, bring him to the San Antonio and let coach Pop build his game, his defense and his overall form. What better plan, getting trained and guided to greatness by the best coach in the NBA and possibly the best coach ever... LeBron needs a coach that can take him and shape him to his true and full potential.
Spurs, you need to pick up LeBron and build your next team around him with a real supporting cast. LeBron, if he doesn't wise up, will just another Sir Charles Barkley.
Wow, that would be great, but I am not sure it would work. I don't know enough about Lebron and his personality to know if he would be happy in small market city. He might tolerate it if it got him a ring, but would he really fit?
If he could, boy would that make a team! Tim and Manu are still good for tow or three more years, and Toy is still young yet. What a lineup that would be.
Kind of think it will be just a dream though. Lebron is going to draw major bucks and he will pretty much have his choice of where he wants to go. My guess is if the Knicks get a decent coach Lebron will go there. Biggest market in the league with the most exposure, and he would not have to defer to any other superstars.
Well, i know it's along shot and has as much chance as didlly squat has, but that would be awesome. Imagine the Spurs dominating for the next 6 years? possibly longer. What a dynasty that would be.
The Spurs are still good and TP has a long career still ahead of him. I wonder if that would ever cross the mind of the GMs/coaches/owners...
LeBron is LeBrooklyn bound to be with his man crush Jay-Z.
Nice fantasy though.
If he wanted titles, this would be his move.
But, it's about as likely a scenario as the Lakers getting Pau Gasol for Kwame Bro....oh yeah....nevermind.
The best coach ever?
Phil might have some thing to say about, that but I appreciate your team loyalty.
Nice showing last night by the Spurs.
Well, you have to admit that Pop has probably done more with less than most coaches. People look at the Spurs and see all the great players, but they forget how unlikely those players were to be stars when Pop got them.
Only Duncan was a true sure thing. Every team in the league passes on Ginobli and nearly every one passed on Parker. Finley was cut by Dallas as no longer worth the money. Bowen was traded from the Heat, considered a marginally good defensive player at best.
And Parker was so undisciplined and raw when he first came, it seemed a real long shot that he would ever develop to what he has become. And that is Pop's doing.
And think of the players that Pop has essentially rescued from the dust bin and gotten productive years from.
People have sometimes critized and sometimes made fun of the Spurs for their foreign players, but think about it. With such low draft choices over the last decade, where else were they to find new people? Not in the college players that is for sure.
Yeah, if not the best, he is at least one of the best coaches ever. Possibly the best ever at developing unlikely talent.
The only time they get recognition like that is when they kill someone. As soon as they lose one or two games... "Oh, they are to old and slow". The fact is, that Phil had Jordan and Pipen. Probably one of the best in the league of all time. He then had Kobe and Shaq and about 100 other superstars... He didn't win the games by his coaching alone. He had all time NBA greats at his disposal.

You're right. Coach is probably the greatest coach of all time. He knows basketball and what being part of a team is all about. Just think what he could do for LeBron. sign him up for 2 years, and you'll see the emergence of the greatest player of the game ....EVER...
Coach has created stars out of players that didn't seem to have the potential of becoming stars. He is the true NBA alltime best coach. Just look at his stats... he is second but not for long...
Coach Pop get LeBron James.
Hi friend,
I am a Spurs fan too and while at first you might get excited about having Lebron, you should look a lttle closer. He is a great individual talent on a mediorce team without him and while he has the occasional big game like agaisnt the Pistons last year, he has struggled against the more defensive teams like the Celtics and Spurs in the Finals last year. Chemistry wise I just don't think it would work especially on the team oriented Spurs and he needs to show up more in big games before you want him on your favorite team. Just an opinion. Nice Post friend. Best wishes. fenfan

you know, LeBron really doesn't fit in the Spurs style of game. But, you don't think that LJ could ever fit with a few adjustments and some minor changes to his game?
I think this blog distorts the truth of what most sports fans think. I'm not by any means a Spurs team fan but I am a fan of the Spurs Organization which means I want the Lakers to win the titles but the Spurs are such a class group from Coach to TD to Manu to all the people behind the scenes and so successful that this is a role model for the NBA everywhere. Too bad we seldom see it with stuff like we're getting in Oklahoma. The Sonics or whatever that mess is called.
NiqueDodson, if they are smart and keep P.J. and let him be free to build his team, you might be surprised at what that team could turn into in a few years. He was already a pretty good coach, and he learned a lot from Pop. I really hated to see him seave SA.
And they are going to get one of the best college players in a long time back next yer.
The Spurs are an awesome organization and need to be recognized for it. They are an unselfish ball club and should be a role model for the rest f the league. I don't understand the media. Tim Duncan, Tony Parker and Manu Ginobli need to get more tatoos and start doing drugs and raping women, driving drunk in order to get some media attention. If that's what makes "STARS", then I guess we don't need the NBA... The media tend to praise the "BAD" boy type of players that are always in trouble...
What a shame!!!!!!!!!
Well, Tony could always cheat on Eva. But I am not too sure I would want to do that. She might revert to her desperate housewife persona and then he would be in real trouble. LOL
SAFreak,
Hold up a sec, Utah beat Boston this season so lets review how that one went down (pretty good upset as upsets go right).
Lets start with Charlie Rosen, no he does not really like the Jazz that much anyway, moving on.
Randy Hill, nope, he pretty much ignores the Jazz, strike two, swing and a miss(I'm mixing metaphors but thats ok).
How about Mike Kahn, he's pretty fair, no not a peep.
My point is as little coverage the Spurs get, it seems the Jazz get even less coverage.
Coach Jerry Sloan is fourth on the all time coaches win/loss list (third if you only count active coaches, behind Don Nelson and Pat Reilly,) and still can't get in to the HOF.
As role models go, the Jazz are very good, they stay out of trouble and are active in the community
Oh and did I mention that as small market as the Spurs are, the Jazz are even smaller (probably the smallest market team out there).
In summation, please don't do this, it doesn't come off well.

Thabulldawg, I hear you. Smetimes we tend to focus on our team's problems and prejudices from the media. The fact is that the media is so driven by $$$ that they sacrfice real and true role models. I know the Jazz has really cleaned up, since Malone has step out. The Spurs are also a great bunch of folks. A few times that they have actually let the refs and the media get to them on an off night, they are branded as bad role models. You ook at most Superstars or great players of the NBA that are playing right now and all you see is garbage. Tatoo driven alcholic druggies...
I know the Spurs are not perfect, but they are what I want my kids to see rather than the nuggets or Lakers...
I hear ya
