We know Michael Vick as a human highlight reel, the guy who had a successful career at Virginia Tech. and the $130,000,000 man. When he was still in college this guy was treated like an NFL superstar already. 1999 was the year which marks the start of his career. In his first game at VT, Michael scored an impressive 3 rushing touchdowns in the first quarter which all started his successful collegiate campaign. He led the Hokies to its first 11-0 season record and a spot at the national championship game. Winning an ESPY award as a the best collegiate player, an Archie Griffin Award and finishing third in Heisman Trophy balloting as well as finishing second as AP player of the year. He also appeared on numerous magazine covers like Sports Illustrated and ESPN. He's so decorated!!
Vick's final collegiate season at VT was not that good as what he had last year, but still won 11 games and losing only 1 from the Miami Hurricanes. Led the Hokies to the Toyota Gator Bowl where he was crowned as the MVP of the game.
Now is the start of his rocky NFL career. "With the first pick of the 2001 NFL Draft, the Atlanta Falcons select, Michael Vick.
In his first year, he only played 8 games where he only started twice. They sat Michael in the bench to let him first see what to expect in the NFL and also to learn the offense. He made his only touchdown pass of the season to Alge Crumpler where they would build a strong chemistry together. Yep, we know that till now that Vick's only target is AC83.
Mike's second season was I think the greatest in his career. Being a MVP candidate and getting an 81.6 QB rating. He scored 8 rushing and 16 passing touchdowns. Led his team to the playoffs by beating Favre and the crew before losing to the Eagles. This is also the time where he signed a lucrative contract worth 130 million dollars for 10 years which makes him the highest paid player in the history of the league. All is clean for now for Vick.
Vick's 2003 campaign fell because of injuries. Umm.. because he appeared in Madden NFL 2004. I think the game also gave him ####, possibly.
In 2004, Vick's stock rose again by being selected to play in the Pro Bowl. The Falcons ended the season with a season record of 11-4. Again this time, the Falcons made the playoffs where he met Donovan Mcnabb for the second time at the NFC Championship game. You know the story.. They loss 27-10.
2005.. He made the Pro Bowl but the Falcons only won 8 games. He also had a new nickname, Ron Mexico. A sex suit was filed against him after he was allegedly accused of giving this girl his disease.
In 2006, it is the first time in his career to 3 passing TD's or more in one game. He did also set a record for being the first QB to rush for 1,000 yards in a season. The Falcons had a great 1st half season but ended with a losing record. Master Mora was fired and was replaced by Louisville's coach Bobby Petrino.
A lot has happened during that season. From Fingering the crowd, to the marijuana bottle and the dog fighting incident. His house at Atlanta was raided where almost a hundred dogs were found and some of them were bruised and scratched. Vick reported that he didn't know about this and he blames his relatives who were living there.
Police says that taking care all of those dogs takes a lot of money. Who could possibly pay for all of that Mike??
Vick's career is in danger. If he didn't produce good numbers next season, expect him to be on the bench or get traded to another team. Petrino said that he expects Vick to pass more and run less. That ain't Mike's game. What will happen next?
From what we see in his career starting from college to right now, Mike turned from Superhero to Villain.
