For Sale: Everything built over last 3 years

I just don't get it... The answer was there before the question was EVEN ASKED!  "Who is going to replace Jow Gibbs as the head coach of the Washington Redskins, thus taking on the quite simple task of finding the final one or two pieces that will make the Redskins able to contend for the title in one of the NFL's toughest divisions, the NFC East?"  The answer was OBVIOUSLY Al Saunders or Greg Williams, who would keep the other on, use the tools provided and the system they are used to, and find that last piece to make the 'Skins true contenders again.  So what happens?  Jim Zorn.

Are you serious?  After seeing last night's complete dominance by the G-Men (and it was total... the 'Skins had no chance at all from snap one), it has already become clear how major a mistake this was.  I honestly expected to see Colt Brennen by the end of the 3rd quarter just because they needed deep balls quick and Jason Campbell just wasn't going to make it happen.

Joe Gibbs was building a run first offence with a defence that could hold teams down with specialized blitzing and one of the toughest DB cores in the league.  It is a tried and true method (See:  Same NYG, 2001 Ravens, any successful Steelers team), and one that Joe Gibbs even used to win a Super Bowl.  There was no arguing that this was a system that with a quick jolt on the O-Line, and a true 3rd receiving threat could be in the talks about who was going to take the East, and thus have a MAJOR advantage in the playoffs.

Jim Zorn thinks that this system will not work.  Al Saunders now works in StL, and the Redskins are 0-1 to start the season, and are visiting the Saints next week.  Unless Jim Zorn can learn to use the past to determine his future, he may be out the door before the end of next year.

If anything that game last night was a comedy of errors. As to the dominance by the G-men ? For two quarters they barely played and then it all unraveled as Manning returned to the blundering and blithering qb that we'd witnessed last season until their impressive postseason run.

As to the 'skins when you've got an meddlesome owner like Dan Snyder then what else would you expect ? Now that Gibbs has returned JGR you had Snyder handing the reins to a rudderless ship to an embattled Zorn. And this guy'll struggle throughout the season. This team is woefully inept as too is their starting quarterback Jason Campbell.
And to watch him play is like watching a child taking its first steps.

You know I hate the fact that "true redskins fans" are so down on the team. Look at the big picture. For the first time in the Snyder era has the team committed to building something authentic. Its not about names or a quick fix its finally about BUILDING. I have read so many threads and blogs about you so called fans bashing where the team stands as of right now. STOP IT!!! Be excited about the future. Apparently the names and egos of the past years have not worked. For a good example you dont have to look far. Look at the Giants....they traded for Eli and regardless of what others may think, they committed to Eli and have built around him. Jerry Reese, in the past few years, has added pieces thru the draft to compile a complete team and within 5 years of Eli's career he has a Super Bowl ring. Is there anything wrong with that? Sure Eli's stats have not been the greatest but as a TEAM with a SOUND PHILOSOPHY and A COMMITTMENT TO BUILD is a recipe for long term success. We dont need a quick fix. Blache was kept because he is a humble man that has taken a defense to a super bowl. Gregg Williams and Al Saunders are not with the team because of egos. Who really called the offensive plays last year? What has Gregg Williams done that Greg Blache cant do? Jim Zorn represents something that none of us have seen since the turn of the century......CHANGE!! We need it. The Snyder way has not worked. Sure we've been to the playoffs a few times but they were all with Gibbs. All our big name coaches before him FAILED....MISERABLY with the exception of Schottenheimer. I see nothing wrong

There are people who'll question the direction as to where the team is going. But you could see that the team was on a downward spiral ever since Snyder was stupid enough to hire Spurrier.
And after that with Gibbs in place the building blocks were being laid. But the real inherent problem is their scouting and the fact that in Snyder you've got a meddlesome owner who won't take no for answer. And that's when he's in the wrong.
As for Jason Campbell this guy has all of the athletic attributes but when it comes to the cerebral side of the game it's just not there at all. He's a hindrance and an overall liability to this team.

Optimism and blind loyalty can be a good thing but when reality sets in there's a daunting task ahead for the franchise.
