Recently, I have heard a good joke coming from a NASCAR regular, and defending NEXTEL CUP Champion, Tony Stewart. For those of you that missed it, it has something to do with etiquette and younger drivers.
I could say this is the pot calling the kettle black or perhaps, I could say it is the cat laughing at the dog for not being able to take a dump in a litter box, though neither ever use toilet paper.
One must tell Mr. Stewart that he is as much of the cause as he is the solution. As a NASCAR fan, I see plenty of blame to spread around to many of the drivers, young ones and veterans.
So, it is time for everyone to step up to the proverbial plate, and swing in favor of etiquette or you might lose a NASCAR faithful that is tired of seeing someone doing an asinine move on the track and creating the "BIG ONE".
Screw etiquette!
I've been watching NASCAR since the early 60s and one thing that never was important was some driver being soooo careful of being labeled a "bad boy"!
What does Stewart have to do with etiquette anyways? that fatass is the most two-faced hypocritical driver ever!( Do as I say, not as I do! right?) He can come within inches of causing the big one at Daytona right after telling the Media that drivers are too aggressive and somebodys gonna get killed out there" And then the next week compliment His engine builder after He blows His engine near the end of the race!
No, as I remember NASCAR has always allowed "rubbing" and Junior Johnson mastered drafting in the 1960 Daytona race setting Himself up for the win in a slower Car.
Too much making nice, nice will just make NASCAR look like a lame, politically correct and sissy way to race.
If You look at any of the greats they all had something in common...
they werent afraid to get nasty and race when they needed to and never asked for special rules to make themselves look good ( none of 'em wanted to be on the same track as a rookie but they didnt expect NASCAR to make them stay away from them and give them easy wins!
God! I can't believe that Guy! Who does He think He is? Richard Petty?
I agree jimrdrfn, but you and I remember a time when restricter plate racing was unheard. Now, they are bunched together the majority of the race, making some of the old ways of racing seem out of place.
I guess what I am saying is there is a time and place for the bump drafting and rubbing, but at the start of the race is not the time and in the corners is not the place.
I have no problem with aggressive driving, providing the driver does not whine after being a recipient of it while using the same tactics toward other drivers.
And there, we are in agreement toward two-faced Tony Stewart's, "Do as I say, not as I do" attitude. I suppose we are going to have to pitch in and buy him some Puffs tissue during those crocodile tear moments.

I am just another internet, cyber addicted, sports addict that needs a place to vent. I have been a Raider, Red Sox, and Blackhawks fan since I was able to remember my name. But, I am a sports fan overall.
