AFC West Questions????
Nov 16, 2006 | 1:46AM | report this

Jake Plummer is 7-1 In his last 8 starts that he did NOT throw a TD pass? You gotta be kidding me. How does he have that good of a record? How dangerous does that make Denver if they actually had a solid QB? Why does he still have a job. Does his bootlegging really instill that much fear even if he can't throw a TD?

Will Marty finally break the curse? Seriously, every time he looks like he is in a position to beat Denver, something goes wrong... very wrong. Last year was the worst for them I think. Denver with really nothing to gain, waltzed into San Diego and beat them up.

Does LT get his 100th TD on Sunday night? He only needs 2 for it. He only averages 1 per game against Denver and is pretty much a lock for 99. But can he do it on the average he usually puts up there (53 yds)?

Will Oakland ever win another AFC West game? 11 straight losses. That's right 11. Not one AFC West win last year and 0 for 3 this year. For as good as the AFC West is, why do they suck so bad? Maybe Oakland would have been better suited in the NFC West, that's kind of a down confrence isn't it? Well Except Seattle, which was an AFC West team... Maybe they have a shot against KC... yea right.

Speaking of KC, is it smart to start Green after coming back from a concussion? Wouldn't it be wiser to ease him in first? Even as bad as Oakland is, their defense is no push over. Does Herm think this is a warm up game that no matter who he starts, he can't possibly lose?

And last, is the AFC West the best in the NFL? Seriously? Would current division leaders New England, Baltimore, or Indy survive this schedule (except Oakland, did I mention they suck)? It always seems rough for the AFC West teams because they beat each other up and it usually ends up keeping a very good team out of the playoffs.

Just some thoughts, I think I'll shut up now....

Perhaps a stranger stat on Jake Plummer is that this season here are his pass attempt figures with the team's record.

0-26 attempts = 1-2
27+ attempts = 5-0

I traced it back farther and he is 9-3 in Denver when not throwing a TD pass. He was 3-14 from 1999-2002 in Arizona for what it's worth.

I have all I can take of the experts and how the chargers are their this weeks pick to win it all. Denver is going to beat them like a drum. The chargers point explosion last week well it came against a poor cincy defense so if ya'll want to crown them then fine BUT THE CHARGERS ARE WHO WE THOUGHT THEY ARE. THE BRONCO'S ####ES.

So, Mike should let Jake throw 27+ times and hope he does not throw a TD...

9-3 that's just sick. I wonder how many other QBs have that kind of stat.

And yes, I really think that Denver will win this weekend. I just can't see Marty winning this one. Air it out will not work with Champ Bailey roaming the secondary. Yes he get to roam because Gates right now is the only real threat.

Id say Denver 21 - San Diego 14. Should be a huge game dominated by defense. 14 of Denvers points will be of turnovers, while San Diego's 14 will come from LT. I do not expect to get a huge game from Rivers seeing as Champ Bailey will be on the other end. Plummer should be alright but if Peterson or Bell dont run well they'll be in a heap of trouble. Bailey & Al Wilson should have big games this week as well as Javon Walker. LT runs for 150 and 2 TD's but Rivers gets INT 3 times. Without Merrimam in the lineup I look for San Diego to struggle against the run, this is bad news considering Plummer doesnt throw for very many touchdowns. This is a case of two run down your throat offenses which basicly cancel each other out, but defensive wise Denver has the edge. OK Ill shut up now. Oh yeah if San Diego wins ill be officially humbled!!

Vex, I find the comment about LT ripping off 150 to be disturbing. Do you really think he can do it after averaging only 53 yards and 3.4 ypc against Denver in the past?

I might be willing to concede 117 yds and a score to LT. Though I think the may be the toughest defensive test the Chargers have faced all year.
