John Canzano... what are you thinking!
May 16, 2008 | 9:41PM | report this

In todays Oregonian, John Canzano wrote an article about why the Blazers should trade down their pick. He claims that the last thing we need is more youth, and that it would be ignorant to draft someone with the (Blazers) top pick . I think he is wrong. Realistically, the Blazers will land the 13th or 14th pick. Im pretty sure that no team is going to trade away a well conditioned, impact veteran. It just doesnt happen in my mind. Kevin Pritchard will pick the best player available, and wheel and deal around to optimize the Blazers roster for the 08-09 season. Also, to all you Blazer fans out there... lets pray we can land that #1 pick again somehow!!!

Portland Native---I couldn't agree more. An early mock draft has Portland taking Kevin Love at #13. How cool would that be to have an attitude like his on our team. Let's give this team a year with Oden and let the PG's we have battle for the spot. That would be the only thing to trade for and who at PG is available that would be any better? I like Steve Blake, I hope Sergio can tame his raw talent, and Jack showed greatness but was up and down. Just because of their attitudes I think all three deserve that chance. Besides, with our roster PG isn't as important as with some teams, just a bonus if greatness emerges.

Oh- you're an ####...no offense...but PG is the 2nd most important position on ANY roster, next to center, and if you don't have a dominant center, then its THE most important position. Second, the blazers aren't going to draft another big man. They already have too many of them as it is, and need some shooters. Defense wasn't a problem for the Blazers last year, and that's all Love has, that and 3pt range...and who the hell needs a 4 who can shoot 3's? Second, Sergio played with Rudy Fernandez in Europe, which is one of the reasons that the Blazers have held off trading him...they want to see how he plays when Rudy joins the team, and they won't make any decision about the draft until they know for sure if he's going to turn down big money in Europe to come play in the NBA. Remember, this is the MVP of the European league we're talking about here. Finally, PN, you're right...most people who prospect on what the Blazers are going to do are both idiots and dead wrong. I have full faith in Kevin Pritchard, mostly because our entire starting lineup was engineered by him, except for Webster and Outlaw. He'll make the best moves for the blazers, and he is, hands down, the GM of the last 2 years.
