The last time I posted on worst QBs in the NFL, the most prominent names were Vince Young, Matt Lienart, Tavaris Jackson, and everybody's favorite Bear Rex Grossman. Someone replied that a few of the names on the list were in their first year and needed another year before they be included here. I agreed. It's not fair to put essentially rookies on the list.
Well, we're in the 2nd season for these guys and it's time to vote now cause it's never too early.
Most of the haterade comes down for Tavaris Jackson and Vince Young. Well, take Vince off your list cause Jeff Fisher has officially benched him in favor of Kerry Collins. Only starters are on this list so no Grossmans either. Tavaris Jackson really is not that bad when you look at his rating (64.8)
If we just go by QB rating, then the worst QBs in the NFL at this point is surprising!
#3) Derek Anderson of the Browns. (57.1) How quickly they fall. Wasn't he on fire last year?
#2) Matt Hasselbeck of Seattle. (48.6) This guy was in the Superbowl a few years ago and mentioned with the all-time greats in terms of future. Is it just an illusion?
#1) Carson Palmer of the Bengals. (37.1) Say it ain't so. Is it not a good year for NFL QBs from USC or what? Matt Lienart gets benched and replaced by a dinosaur and now this. Oh, how the mighty have fallen!
PS Kansas City Chiefs starters are hurt and not so bad via rating. The starter this week, Thigpen, checks in with a 54.0 rating. We'll give him another week to be on the official worst list..
Isn't that what Brian Bosworth called the NCAA so many years ago ... a bunch of communists? Well, never have those words been more meaningful than today.
Calling a penalty against college kids for celebrating is always in bad taste. Calling a penalty against college kids at the end of the game when it could effect the outcome borders on a crime and a crime was committed against Ty Willingham and the Washhington Huskies in their game against BYU.
What does the NCAA want, a bunch of robots on the field? A bunch of trembling in their shoes comrades afraid to look big brother in the eye? One can only hope that this latest debacle involving the Huskies will be the last straw and someone with authority will stand up and say enough!!
One hopes that it is the athletes themselves who bond together and stage some type of protest whether it is sitting out an entire game or refusing to play a quarter in protest of that inane rule that penalizes athletes for being emotional in an emotional event.
The referees involved in that Washington vs BYU game need to be investigated ... it all stinks of something fishy.
I knew Tony Romo would get the blame here. Now Cowboy fans and haters will pile on him and his romance till they kill it! Ah, the poor kids. They don’t deserve it.
It wasn’t the airplanes that killed the beast. T’was beauty that killed the beast.
You know, you folks should lay off or hope the romance doesn’t become stronger because of your criticism.
Romo got mugged in the 2nd half and if you want to blame somebody for the loss, blame the O-line or the coordinator.
Still, Romo has a playoff #### on his back. If and when he gets it off, how sweet it will be! Ask Peyton Manning.
Cowboy Fans biggest worry is still the Terrell Owens beast. You can blame Jerry Jones for that time bomb.
Several sportscasters have chimed in on comments of Curt Schilling and most of them come to bury him. I come to praise him. Schilling has valid points and should be heard regardless of his verbosity.
Let us take a look at Marion Jones. Lady MJ offered to return her medals. She did and someday her career will be rehabilitated to some degree. Still, not only does the Olympic folks strip cheaters of their medals and records, they also want the medals back from teammates in events such as the relays.
Cycling and the Tour De France stripped Floyd Landis. And, they certainly wanted to do the same for our man Lance.
College football wants to strip Reggie Bush of his Heisman and take away the National Championship of USC in which he was a major factor. It’s not like they haven’t done it before … How is this situation different from MLB and Clemens? It may have been Reggie’s parents who cheated. Still, it is he and USC who will suffer … not to mention his teammates.
So then, to suggest that Clemens be stripped of his many awards is not without merit. Or, is MLB somehow better than the Olympics and other sports?
An LA Times article compares Clemens to Pete Rose, saying that “we didn’t take anything away “ from him when he was banned. So how can we consider taking awards and records away from the Rocket? Well the comparison is faulty. Peter Rose broke MLB rules as a manager not as a player. I am one who believes Charlie Hustle should have been let in the hall as a player. But, in his case there is just too much dark water under the bridge now.
Clemens is every bit the steroid monster that Barry Bonds is and neither one of them deserves to be in the hall or to keep their records after using the juice. Many sportswriters have already said they will not vote Clemens into the hall unless he brings something substantial to the table in response to the Mitchell Report.
Now, if his steroid use keeps him out of the hall of fame, how or why does he get to keep his Cy Young Awards after the fact? Does MLB know something the Olympics does not?
Georgia could be in a world of hurt. There has never been anything like the Warriors of Hawaii. And, what happens if Hawaii wins? Will they have a ligitimate claim to the national title?
What we have and have always had is a mythical national title. A lot of schools got hosed this year ... namely, Mizzou, Georgia, Kansas, Hawaii? It's been happening for many years ... before the BCS.
Still, it's Hawaii who gets to scream foul if they should take out Georgia. Georgia is not in the national title game because its 2 losses were conference losses ... big deal. The Bulldogs beat some real good teams and didn't lose to any patsy (USC). They had strong schedule, unlike Kansas. Hawaii did what Kansas could not do: win the game that counts despite your weak schedule. The win against Washington was just awesome!
The Sugar Bowl is where it's at! We got 2 teams with something to prove. We got 2 teams who can talk the talk long after the season with a win.
I would add one more reason why Weis is destined to fail; he does not look the part, he does not represent the part, of what young men would look up to and want to rally around and follow boldly into battle. Now, I know some will say that looks are shallow and perhaps insignificant pointing to other coaches. Point to another coach and I will point to some aspect of that coach that represented leadership. Weis has nothing visually.
Gastric Bypass is not something I want my coach to choose. I want my coach and my players to choose hard work.
Don't hold your breath if you think they'll be back next year. Notre Dame has a tough schedule next year and it wouldn' t matter anyway if they didn't. They are stuck with Weis.
Who woulddn't be successful with Brady: perhaps the most accurate NFL passer ever! The adminstration at Notre Dame has a lot to answer for hiring Charlie Weis.
Still, it does all have the appearance of just desserts and their demise is quite sweet to wit.
Known for my poetry and other arts, I Still like to talk sports on any level.
