Adrian Peterson is not just the rookie of the year, he's the rookie of the century! Watching him dominate the Lightning Bolts is like watching no other RB ever. The best comparison is to Eric Dickerson, but Peterson breaks that mold with his movement. He appears to be one of those few athletes where there are no comparsons. He is writing his own legend with each and every game.
And those poor Chargers ... with their equally sad-sack Coach ... let the Vikings put the smack down on em like ... well, they punk'd 'em. They man-handled 'em. They handed them their lunch, saying sorry bud, we don't eat quiche.
It was a rough game with guys going out limping and on stretchers. Big plays and big hits ... Just the kind of stuff rabid fans adore ... hard-hittin' take no prisoners kind of game.
Still, if Pererson can stay healthy, at the end of the year we may be looking at the greatest NFL Rookie of all time!
What part of Norv Turner’s 58-82-1 record didn’t the Chargers understand? They appeased simple critics of the hire with the fact that Turner was familiar with the offense. Big whoop! That only meant that he was qualified to be their Offensive Coordinator. How could anyone justify hiring Turner as a head coach with a straight face? The Chargers brass are a bunch of liars or idiots.
While I agreed with the firing of Marty, I would not have fired him unless I was absolutely sure I had someone in the wings who was as good a coach or better. NT was or is neither the former or the latter. When Tampa Bay fired Tony Dungy, they got someone just as good or better in Gruden. The firing actually worked out for everybody.
The Redskins had a very good team while NT was there and he did nothing with them. While the Chargers are better, to think that the head coach is not integral to performance in team sports and that just anyone can coach a good team is the prattle of a misguided and arrogant brain.
The Chargers hired a proven loser as a head coach and it is now a certified disaster. If they don’t do something quick, he could wreck the franchise. Charger fans must be sick. I would rather have Lloyd Carr as my head coach than NT.
In high school and college I led my teams as a middle line backer, running back, and point guard. Now, I'm known for my poetry and other arts. Still like to talk sports on any level.
