Kobe Takes Lead 4 MVP?
Mar 22, 2008 | 12:28PM | report this

Even Sir Charles, a harsh critic of Kobe Bryant in the past, has come around lately and now proclaims the Laker as his choice for MVP.  The play of the Lakers over the last 3 games is getting Kobe more votes and opening eyes ...  OK, I'm impressed.

Still, my vote for MVP is for LeBron and here is why:  Below is my response to a post by Kahn Games.

I have one disagreement: in the other professional sports like MLB for example, play of last year does factor into the voting.  Look at Pujols in baseball who won MVP for his play the year before.

I give MVP to LeBron for his play last year.

Still, the Lakers last 3 victories without Gasol are very impressive.

good point maddenballa.

the lakers would be the 3 seed in the east eliminating kobe from MVP contention.

by the current rules it would have to go to KG, or Chauncey.

I dont think lebron deserves the MVP,and im from cleveland and a huge cavs fan...cuz when do you ever see in any sport the MVP being awarded to a player whose teams record is not one of the best for that respective league???Im still undecided amongst chris paul, kobe,or maybe even dwight howard...lebron is the best player, but thats not the same as MVP.

If Lebron get the MVP than it a popluarity award, just because he is leading the league in scoring and average a good 4-6 rebounds or assists does not qualify him for MVP. How about Kobe being the league score champ and did he get a MVP?

Kobe will get the last laugh in the end kissing the 07-08 tropy and final MVP---Lebron can kiss his MVP tropy as all i care without a champion ring.

MVP Candidates

1) Kobe Bryant
2) Chris Paul
3) Kevin Garnett
4) Lebron James

Winner : Kobe Bryant

Lebron MVP- Not even close

Kobe MVP- As huge of a Laker and Kobe Bryant fan as I am don't think he should get it either. Although I will be happy if he does.

Garnett- P-L-E-A-S-E!!!!!!!!!!!! David West exposed his weakness on defense lastnight.

The real MVP is CP3 hands down. You want to know why I feel that way see my blog about it.

A couple of more wins and big games without Pau Gasol ... and, Kobe will win it running away!

Never seen the Lakers play like this since the break-up.

No player from the east this year no matter what should win the MVP. The east is a disgrace to the nba, most east games are days off, and to get as many touches as lbj gets he should avg. 75 points a game, what a joke !!!!!!!!

OtraVes....since when does MVP not go to top 3 team? How does not being in playoffs out west equate to being 3rd in East? Wouldn't Lakers record probably be a little better if they were in the East (sort of the point everyone is making, by the way) and possibly be 2nd or 1st?

Sorry, I missed your logic. Not making playoffs in West really takes some of the luster off your season.

Lebron has great stats but stats don't win games so they shouldn't win the MVP either.

Man I agree with Madden. Lebron is a great Player but Damn KOBE was Awesome this year man carrying the Lakers on his back. Like I tell people if Kobe was in Miami the Heats would still be a contendor, If he was on the Cavs they would be leading the East.

KOBE should be MVp hands down!
sure LeBron is a good all around player.
but all that Kobe has done without pau and the way the lakers have been playing!
look back 2 yrs ago and now if it werent for him asking to bring help to LA they wouldnt be #1 SEED.
and i agree with sum of you if the cavs were in the west they wouldnt be a top seed that just shows u how better the lakers are to be at the top in the wild wild west!
im still surprised he hasn't won it before!
he's accomplished alot and this yr he's shown great leadership!
LeBron has higher stats but that does not win games all the time!
and KOBE is the best closer in the NBA right now
and he's playing with an injured pinkie that can ruin his season and playing for the USA olympics, i mean that shows u what passion he has and what a great player he is to still be scoring and helping his team and looking for the open players(:

MY VOTE KOBE!

Rhymes,
No way! Put Kobe in Miami and the Heat still stinks? Pub D Wade in LA ... almost the same exact record. Based on the Lakers last 3 games, it's hard to deny Kobe MVP. But, let me try. I still give it to LeBron for taking his team to the finals last year.

nah miami scored 50 sum points in ONE game
nothing compared to what the lakers have done.
yea Lebron is one of the best players but kobe is THE best right now.
hands down.
all kobe haters should just lay off
cuz seriously kobe deserves it
he's done alot
and u can't deny all the things he has done to not have an MVP yet
this looks like it should be his year!

lebron would be my 2nd pick.
i mean if u could chose between them i'd pick kobe
to close out a game not lebron.

Dwade is a perfect example of why Kobe is MVP. Kobe dealt with a lesser team around him, but tried his best, won scoring title twice, and got his team into the playoffs. He is playing through injury and has his team tied for first in West. Dwade is on bad team, and cried...stunk the place up and then quit on them at the end. Pathetic....and that's why Kobe is MVP.

Dwade learned from the best....pretty soon he will get traded, and suddenly be all better, and invigorated and running, telling everyone he'd do whatever to win a ring...sound like anyone we know?

KOBE KOBE KOBE KOBE

KG NO WAY YOU MIGHT AS WELL GIVE IT TO RAY ALLEN

LeBRON?? KOBE GAVE UP BEING THE LEAGUE LEADER IN SCORING(HE LED THE LAST TWO SEASONS) SO HIS TIME CAN WIN, AND THE LAKERS WILL MOST LIKE WIN THE WEST, WHICH IS CLEARLY A MORE DOMINANT CONFERENCE THEN THE VERY SOFT EAST.

CHRIS PAUL IS THE ONLY PLAYER IN THE LEAGUE TO COME CLOSE TO KOBE, BUT HANDS DOWN GIVE IT TO NUMBER 24

LeBron is is having a great season...Kobe Bryant is having another super season....LeBron is in the garbage East and is in 4th place which is not saying much bring his sorry record and his sorry team to the West and go fishing with Kenny Smith at the end of the season...Kobe Bryant is two years overdue for this trophy and he has not let up since what more does he have to do to gain the leagues respect...Kobe Bryant is by far the best player in the league and if you ask the players in the NBA they would agree...Reporters and Writers are Reporters and Writers and they should do that job only, leave the MVP voting to real players and coaches....Lakers 2007-08 Champs...Peace Out!!!!!!!!!!
