The Norv Turner Affair
Sep 24, 2007 | 9:32AM | report this

What part of  Norv Turner’s 58-82-1 record didn’t the Chargers understand?  They appeased simple critics of the hire with the fact that Turner was familiar with the offense.  Big whoop!  That only meant that he was qualified to be their Offensive Coordinator.  How could anyone justify hiring Turner as a head coach with a straight face?   The Chargers brass are a bunch of liars or idiots.

While I agreed with the firing of Marty, I would not have fired him unless I was absolutely sure I had someone in the wings who was as good a coach or better.  NT was or is neither the former or the latter.  When Tampa Bay fired Tony Dungy, they got someone just as good or better in Gruden.  The firing actually worked out for everybody.

The Redskins had a very good team while NT was there and he did nothing with them.  While the Chargers are better, to think that the head coach is not integral to performance in team sports and that just anyone can coach a good team is the prattle of a misguided and arrogant brain.

The Chargers hired a proven loser as a head coach and it is now a certified disaster.  If they don’t do something quick, he could wreck the franchise.  Charger fans must be sick.  I would rather have Lloyd Carr as my head coach than NT.

This is coming from TJCharlie saying that I could not agree more with the assessment of Norv Turner's poor coaching of the Chargers. If the Charger's don't fire him soon this season will be a total loss. Norv Turner as an offensive cordinator he is away from the direct action of the game and can see better on how the other team operates on the field. However, N.T. on the field is unable to see the whole game and has been to conservative to run such a high powered offense. The Charger's need to install a proven winning coach to turn this team around and be a playoff contender.

Players play and coaches coach, but when the team loses the way the Bolts have the last two game it is mostly the players. They couldn't make a tackle on a simple slant pass? What the f^ck does that have to do with Norv? The Chargers are weak mentally and the carry over from the playoffs last year is still there.

Agreed, in fighting between LT and Rivers yesterday, a good defense playing like ####. SD is in a world of hurt. You can see the confusion and self doubt in Turner's face on the sideline. He is and always be a nice guy in the wrong job.

AJ Smith has done a wonderful job hasn't he. That's who you fire right after they give NT his walking papers if the chargers don't right the ship.

So What? All of a sudden since Marty left, the Chargers don't know how to tacle? Get real! This is the same team that kicked butt last year on D. Now matter how you slice it, the head coach will reflect his personality on a team. Norv Turner is wrong as a leader and the Chargers reflect it .
