After running the streets like chicken in quest of a potgold, Dan Snyder realized that going back to his backyard to look for help was the dummless thing to do...As a matter of fact "Mr Comptroller Freak" has no choice to reappoint his YES MAN as a head coach, a puppet/butler he hired 2 weeks ago as offensive coordinator..Some NFL connoisseurs claim that James Arthur "Jim" Zorn was far from being a good coordinator..now a head coach!!! Gimme a break!! Mr Headless chicken...
Mr Headless chick, the Washington Football Fans need to know what happened with Josh McDaniels, the Patriots' offensive coordinator..why that obssession with Spagnuolo?? All of a sudden Josh does not deserve the job because he lost a game, C'mon!! Quack! Quack!! Why you have to waste people time with your narcissistic interviewing technics??? 4 days with Greg Williams, 10 hours with Jim Fassell, 6 hours with Ron Meeks and 20 hours with Spagnuolo....Is that a spygate/interviewgate, an interrogate method used to extirp crucial data from potential opponents?? I am sure the last Washington Post article ( 2/07/08< The WRONG JOB for the MAN> by Sally Jenkins) warning all candidates not to be part of that farce played a major role in Snyder's 360 degree U-TURN.. He has no choice to go back to his protege knowing he will retain control in the recruiting staffing process...
For the next five years, we are going to live with this experimentation, this trial & errors phenomenon..We can forget about seeing our team as a deep/serious playoffs contender.....What about sneaking these news on a weekend?? What is behind that novelty?? Is it a coup d'etat..military style or Snyderian style?? Remember!! Greg Williams, Al Saunders, Norv Turner, Steve Spurrier and Marty were kicked out on a weekend probably to avoid the media whrat, to shine away from a public fan base viewed as nuisances...At any rate, this is my 2 cents on that topic.....
We, the Washington Football Team's Fans, were on the seventh sky yesterday to witness a flawless report card of a team that was determined to make up for the loss against Giants Sunday before last as though the team would need a BYE week to put itself together. Perhaps, that was what the coaching staff envision by letting the players relax, play X-BOX or PS3 games or go fishing and/or play golf during the break...Is that what we need to be a playoffs contender?? I do not think so...As far as I know the BYE week is not a prerequisite to win games....If we can beat LIONS without Santana Moss and Randal El, we better believe that PACKERS need adjusting its tactics if they do not want a 4-2 standing...Nevertheless, our Indians claim the Giants' defeat was a Faux Pas that cost them pride and bragging rights..We are (the FANS) still dreaming of a 4-0 record specially after teaching a Football lesson to Detroit yesterday..This beating was a psychological one..This is the 21st time Washington defeats Detroit regardless their seemingly menacing debut of the regular season....Similarly, we can say the same thing for Washington vs. Dallas which, by the way, is coming to a football field near us soon..I am not sure Dallas is going to rely on their usual magical thinking to psych us out again..they are witnessing a revamped J.C., a fierce defense and a flexible coaching staff that vowe to end the Dallas' curse...Meanwhile, the Redskins' curse is there to stay, to remain a nightmare for the Lions' fans...Perhaps, we need to consult a Palm reader prior to the next Cowboys' game as we are strongly advising Lions' management to do the same....
Seriously 34-3 is ridiculous...There is no other way to explain this..DETROIT was outpsyched by WASHINGTON...After the team meltdowned vs. New York, a game they were supposed to win on paper, they have decided to make someone pay, unfortunately Lions was the chosen victim...Here are some pics to illustrate this unforgettable debacle .....
It debuted with a Clinton Portis warning Lions that was not going to be a cake walk in the FedEx field..From the start, football shoes were outfooted and flew around....
Then Cooley cooled them down with a devastating TD.
Then Kitna felt the sacking pain was for real....
Followed by SELLERS determination to put down these baby Lions to the ground.....
To overpower these malnourished Lions to TD.......
To Flex his muscle and to clown these weak infant Lions....
To reach the end zone for the second time under the flummoxed gaze of Lion #97...SELLERS was one of the tamers yesterday.....
A 2 point was added to the score board when Carter decided to Kitnaing....
To flying over the sacking KB....
Finally Rogers put a term to this party on a 61 yard TD return.....
Hey!! Ladies!! We will need you next Sunday vs. PACKERS........................................... .
Hello!!!! Detroit's Fan, I feel your pain..Do not comment (Lions'fans) if you do not have anything factual to say....................
Yes!! our American girls remained amazing and outstanding despite the distraction created by Greg Ryan in using Scurry at the cage in lieu of Solo...Perhaps, that move might not have changed the outcome vs Brazil but doing so at the last minute would certainly raised a lot of eyebrows...However, our Ladies stay put..sliding away this noise and outplaying Norway this morning winning the bronze medal for the 3rd time (1995, 2003 and 2007)..
What strucked me was the audacity of Ryan not putting Solo at the cage in the second half..Again, our Ladies ignored that arrogance by beating Norway 4-1..Ambach, O'Reilly and Chalupny were the authors of that victory...I have been up since 5:00am ET to witness greatness of which I was not disappointed for two reasons: 1) America was ranked by FIFA as the #1 seed thus they have to fight to be among the three bests in the World (and the team proved it vs. Norway) 2) America has to prove its resourcefulness, that the team has enough back ups to win....to finish third despite Shannon Boxx's absence..
This is the image the team is striving to convey to its fans and foes..unity, friendship and loyalty or:
This one but preferably with Solo who was the talk of the town despite her alleged absence on the bench/in the stadium.......I am not discounting or minimizing Scurry skills but Ryan's attitude vs Solo was questionable at best..He should have used Solo in the second half in both vs.Brazil and Norway..It remains to be seen how that animosity between the two is going to unfold in years to come as Germany is thinking to a hat trick in 2011 as the host of the WWC...Similarly, the US team is dreaming of becoming the first to win the title 3 times..In the meantime, Brazil is not going anywhere as the team missed this golden opportunity to get the trophy for the very First Time...I am sure they will be back as Marta will be only 25...
The Americans have nothing to be ashamed of....In order to be the best, they have to beat the best...that saga among the soccer powerhouses, the triumvirate( Germany, Brazil and USA) is there to stay and we cannot wait to see them again in Germany which will be the defending champ for the second time....
This title came to mind at the end of the game featuring Brazil vs Australia this morning...The Aussies have a long history of coming back from disaster but #11 Cristiane won't allow that to occur this time..These are PICS to substantiate it, to prove it..................:The US is going to have its hand full this coming Thursday but I am confident they can (the US girls..that is..) shut up the SKEPTICS..they can belwilder everybody... Now, here we go for the SAMBA DANCERS:
The US women soccer players have increasingly becoming a contender to be taken very seriously in this 2007 WWC in China..Debuting the tournament on a timid note vs the Koreans, they announced to those who were second-guessing their ambition that they are a group to be reckoned with...They warned Sweden, then Nigeria of their intention to finally outscore the Brits by 3-0 this morning catapulting them to the semifinal joining the soccer power house Germany, and Brazil. Wambach, Boxx and Lilly made Donovan, Mia Ham, Julie Foudy proud of the mighty American women soccer...By defeating the Beckham's colleagues, the American Girls have increasingly showing to the World they too can master the ball, the passes, assists, possessions and countless trickeries of the Beautiful Game.
The On Song Wambach seems to be also in a mission here as her counterparts Marta and Cristiane of the menacing Brazil.
#20 is the 2007 WWC revelation along with Marta and Daniella..Wambach seeing here after scoring the first goal vs. England.
Here Shannon Boxx US midfielder outwitting Jill Scott from England before scoring the second goal..What an athlete!!! One can see the determination, the conviction on that US#7.
Advancing to the semi-final targetting the big prize, the American girls are going to face either the relentless Germany that has defeated North Korea earlier today or Norway depending on who wins between the two or the super contender Brazil in final which sent to vacation Denmark this Thursday.or Australia but everybody knows the Aussies are facing the worst nightmare in their soccerlifetime....
#4 Tania of Brazil in a reverse course vs. Julie Bukh #8 from Denmark in a match that ended 1-0 allowing the Samba girls to move to quarterfinal vs Australia tomorrow and....
the famous #10 Marta, Brazil forward sambaing after the 1-0 victory over Denmark will face-to-face Australia tomorrow in quarterfinal..This WWC is utterly becoming very interesting with the US posing as a threat for the favorites..As the old saying " Hard work can beat talent anyday should talent minimizes hard work" This is a lifetime opportunity for the American girls to show the SOCCER WORLD of what type of white/gray matter they are made of...
GO WAMBACH!!! GO SHANNON!! GO LILLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
To be continued......................................... ...........................................
After outwitting the New-Zealand team (5-0) the Brazilian women soccer players took on the Host country China this morning in the same fashion as the Zealanders..With Marta#10 (above with her devastating left foot), Cristiane #11 as well as Daniela#7, the Brazilian team made it loud and clear this 2007 World Cup is not going to be a cake walk. The Chinese women soccer team, despite great expectations from the fans, the organizers and the public at large, has succombed to the Samba Brazilian Ladies by 4-0 which will hamper their position near end of the tournament as goal differential can make or brake their classification. Germany seemed to be also very serious defeating another contender Argentina (11-0)..What a humiliation!!!!!!!!!
The Brazilian team seems to be in a mission here. They are playing near perfection..the precision in their passes, assists, stealing and defending. It is a delicatessen for the fans'eyes, a regal for the Beautiful Game lovers.
The Brazilian women soccer team seems to be a replica, a resurrection of the Brazilians' soccer heydays in the 50's and the 70's with Edson Arantes Do Nascimiento, DiDi, VaVa, Zico and Rivelino....The Ladies have definitely reincarned these famous Brazilian men soccer players..seeing Marta #10 (above outlooping the Chinese goalkeeper to score her first goal is a pearl), seeing Cristiane #11 at the front line, we are really ready for a fiesta between Germany and Brazil should this trend continues.....Any interested reader willing to know more about sports(mainly soccer) in BRAZIL, go to the following link for more data:
The US women soccer team after a Faux pas against the Korean counterparts, seems to be awakening by outscoring Sweden 2-0 this week..It remains to be seen how that cinderella story will unfold as this World Cup favorites appear to be in a pilgrimage mode that any mishaps or distractions can be very costly for any pretending contender.....
We, as tenacious fans, will be at the VIP seat in our own home to witness the game of the century from a women soccer standpoint...
This post is a prelude to my reentry in the bloggosphere after a long retreat and it is dedicated to my fellow bloggers at Foxsports community such as Flying Pig, Miracle, Demonicume, ShooterB, CarolynT, Rampant Tophatal, EdClinch and many others........
This is it!! Manning and his acolytes are going to their first Superbowl. First, let me congratulate Colts' fans and stepfans for sticking to the team thru the end. Let me also salute my son for demonstrating this enduring faith that Colts is going to win in spite of having been trailed by 18 points at the half. Let me specially genuflex to Hoit, Vearl, Miracle and other fellow bloggers for not flinching under dire demoralizing analysis of prognosticators before today's game.
The chief reason of this post is here we are with two AFRICAN AMERICAN COACHES facing each other for their first time in the ONCE UPON A TIME opportunity to shine in Football Hall of Fame. For instance, Lovie Smith, the lowest paid NFL coach (1.37M) in his 3 out of 4 year contract, is able to take the Chicago Bears to the pinnacle. Tony Dungy also deserves to go to Disney World although he was told he will never be able to go to Superbowl in his lifetime. Peyton Manning at the last minute of the game with head down seemed for a moment, believed that the Superbowl word was a chimere, a misnomer until the ball was intercepted by Marlin Jackson to finally seal the Colts victory vs Patriots. A familiar talkative Manning who abruptly became speechless and bashful. That is very telling.
Now that the route to Florida is not a dream anymore for these two black coaches, it remains to be seen how the NFL organization perception towards black coaches is going to be...I hate injecting race into this debate as sports is supposed to be immune to this kind of issue..Wrong!! One has to be very naive to think that way..All broadcasters agree this is a premiere to have two African American coaches going to Superbowl at the same time is unheard of...Yes!! I heard that before...in several other unusual circumstances...Education, Politics,Art,Ministry, NASA(science), to name a few not to mention the unthinkable BARACK OBAMA as the first African American President..WINK!!! WINK!! Yeah!! right!
On February 4, 2007, Florida will be the P.Manning's time, Dungy and Smith's moment in this nation sports history but the two black coaches will add a SOUL quality to it....mashed potatoes with gravy, stuffing, black eyes peas, sweet potatoes, corn bread, collar green, greens, spinach, home made salad etc..etc..these two black coaches will add their stamp to a bigger than life game regardless who will win the 41st Superbowl two weeks from now or to be more colorful the 1st SOULBOWL....Amen!!
In the meantime, let a youngster like this one, who has perhaps no clue what type of history is in the making after this game, enjoys the Colts' victory in the here & now...
My son is currently on the verge of going nuts...he definitely believes with that come back (18 points behind) Colts is going to be an excruciating headache for the Bears...The horseshoes are coming to town..Beware!!
Folks!! That's it for now...The floor is open for debate or for dispute...
I feel compelled to write this because yesterday was a bad day for birds. With all the Hooplaa/noise surrounding the NFL playoff event some Football fans have been disappointed by the results of this NFL weekend thus far. Ravens 6 Colts 15...Eagles 24 and Saints 27.
What I have suspected that these neurotic birds were not prepared for the occasion. They have been acting out ad profusion. Lets use the Ravens case for a moment..Steve McNair was unrecognizable.Fumbling, sacking, miscalculations on deep throws, misrunning the football all of this contributed to the disaster we all have witnessed yesterday. From a neutral stance and not having a cat in that fight, I would rather see these birds moving forward spreading droppings on the favorites which would make the fun funnier.
Definitely, the black bird was depressed down into the dumps, with decreased energy level, amotivational, anhedonic, perhaps it was not fed properly nor did it get enough sleep. Where the so acclaimed Ravens' defense was?? These overrrated defenders were nowhere to be found. Ray Lewis was too anxious, too agitated, too bewildered to distinguish the ball from an opponent. These uncoordinated movements have cost the team a perfect occasion to revampe their image and that of the entire Baltimore City.
The green birds on the other hand have fought very hard to make his VET(figurative for FAN) proud. They were able to convert field goal and to touch down which Ravens could not do...Shame on you..Billick and Al..
There were more agitation and unusual behavior in the Eagles as manifested by Jeff Garcia incursion into the lane to first down twice..McNabb is very proud of you Garcia.
Either way these birds were not UP TO PAR for the moment. They were under dire pressure which resulted into this. They need seeing their VET right away as they might need some PROZAC combined with cognitive behavioral therapy/relaxation sessions to avoid any suicidal gesture or attempt or worse a complete suicide.
The bright side of this playoff time is we have one more bird (a dangerous one) to face a wild animal at 12noon ET today. Although SEAHAWKS were devastated by injuries during the regular season, we do anticipate they are going to fight thru the nail vs BEARS in order to rescue, to repolish the image of the carnivore society.
The floor is open Folks for discussion or dispute...
With the AFC Divisional Playoff about to take off this Saturday at the ATM stadium in Baltimore, it would be derelict not to talk about this MUST SEE, MUST TALK ABOUT derby between the horseshoes players and those wild black birds. The "enjeu"" is complex but may be viewed by some CONNOISEURS a very simplistic undertaking. Colts (13-4) for now and Ravens (13-3) before this game will determine which of them has been more consistent record-wise.
These terrible birds are determined to smash everything, to go to a hunting trip spilling droppings all over the stakes used by Colts.
To parody their game, Peyton Manning is going to use his horseshoes acumen to toss the ball at two facing stakes metaphorically called Marvin Harrisson, Wayne or Joseph Addai but Ray or Jamal Lewis and/or Clarence Moore/Derrick Mason are going to be the China wall thru which these tossing won't be able to go.......
Keep in mind I do not have personally any dog in this fight even to help these crazy birds in their hunting endeavor, my son has...He is so hyped-up he wants to bet me on wearing a Colts jersey should they win and of course he will parade with Ravens jersey in the neighborhood if the horseshoes players were defeated.
That said...and to allow Football fans wherever you are to polish your knowledge on Ravens assuming you know enough about Colts, we will take you to these two links for more data:
Forty eight hours from now the RCA Dome ( Indiana) will be the location where the AFC WILDCARD will be disputed. The actors KANSAS CITY CHIEFS (9-7) vs. INDIANAPOLIS COLTS (12-4).
I dedicated this post to my son ( current avatar) who has been a COLTS' fan ever since he entered the World of Sports. We are living in the Washington Metropolitain area but his passion for sports has nothing to do with that zone. His basketball team PHOENIX SUNS, his football team Indianapolis COLTS as I mentioned earlier. He has even unsuccessfully tried to go to the Verizon Center to see WIZARDS playing wearing a Colts jersey..or a Suns jersey..Risky idea...to say the least..
One more oddity, his bedroom is full of Fathead of Peyton Manning, (against whom regular writers on this blogland are utterly aware of my discontent) Nash sandwiched with Michael Jordan. I have not heard him said anything about the Nationals or the Capitals yet.......
Sooooo...to give potential readers a complete description of the upcoming event and a rare overview of the two protagonists ( KC vs COLTS) we have decided to share this gem with any interested football fans just by clicking on this link (below):
Most of us seem to be aware of the type of staunched rivalry that exist between Washington Redskins and Dallas Cowboys but nobody i.e. noone seems to be paying attention to what is going on between Baltimore Ravens and Washington Redskins. That fierce competition, for keen observers, goes beyond the football phenomenon.
To flashback these two stories, to put this post into contextual perspective and to help football fans relive these periods, I am going to use two excerpts 1) from NFL papers and 2) from Washington times..from their respective website:
Someone from FOX has mistakenly deleted ( I hope) my last New year's Eve post. That post was a synopsis of my soccer chronicle named WHERE IT ALL BEGAN which essentially belongs to the following story. Just click on the link below:
The Jules Rimet Trophy has a life on its own as I pointed out in one of my soccer chronicles. In order to expedite the post, I will take you to the link below for more data.
Before posting the next WIAB serie, it would be a malpractice blogging not to sandwich this interesting soccer event the 1970 FIFA World Cup soccer played in Mexico when BRAZIL won the Jules Rimet trophy for the third time which allowed the country to keep it permanently. However, this trophy had a life on its own, it was stolen and melted for resale. From that point on, only a replica was given to the winning team and the original exposed to the public thru museum apparatus. You can click on a link thru this reading delineating that story. First, click on this link:
I as mentioned earlier the WHERE IT ALL BEGAN serie will be entrecoupped by interrelated significant soccer events and this is one of them the 1930 FIFA World Cup played in Uruguay. This was how it was reported in the printed media, click on the site below:
