I love it! Ted Thompson got close to being BOO'd off the stage in Green Bay on Draft Day! It's 100% TRUE! It's about time the fans grouped together and voiced their concern over their team (or does their corporate executive committee own it?)
Inside the Packer Atrum on Draft Day, they had a full house of Packer fans that paid money to be their for this historic day. Instead, Ted ended out getting boo'd off the stage by the beloved and die-hard Packer fans!
In anticipation to the first pick, the energy was high and the room was filled with excitement! But it didn't last very long.
Once the Packers announced Justin's name, the ENTIRE BUILDING BOO'd for 2 full minutes and fan's where left in awe. ESPN broadcasted this, and they believe this is the first time that a team actually boo'd at announcement. There was NOT ONE cheer in the state of Wisconsin at that moment!
Shortly after, Ted Thompson came out to speak with the audience to calm the crowd down and the moment the seen him, the fan's inside Lambeau's Atrum BOO'd him even LOUDER then when they first heard the selection! As he tried to explain, many people continued to boo him, and over half of the audience walked out! Ted, what does it take for you to understand your out of touch with reality!!??
Later in a press conference, Ted "talked around" and left the impression that his selection was based on his performance. Yet he failed to say that he only was in 3 games last year, and over his career in college, and he was injured most of it. Ted also "HINTED" and talked around and seemed he was trying to compare him to the legendy Reggie White, believe it or not! Both wore #92, both had 92 retired, both played the same position, and both are big men. Imagine having a GM even HINT that this player is equal to and on the same level as Reggie! This speaks volumes how arigent this team is!
He also said that they don't select players by positions they play, but pick the best player on the block. There was the QB Quinn also available and would be a great QB after Brett leaves, or used as a trade!
It was stated that it's committee members have a financial interest to run the Packers into the ground. It was also blogged somewhere else that these members also have a seperate financial contract with the team, so which is it? The best teams interests or on their business contracts? This may answer some questions as to why the Packers have dropped like a rock. So this opens a motive as to why committee members poor performance in their positions will increase their business profits... Too, if they run them into the ground, they could offer to buy the team, as each committee member is a multi-millionare or control's billion's of dollars in assets! Do some research guys...
Packer fans or not, it was great to finally have the Packer fans finally speak up to this organization. They refuse and don't care about what the fans think outside their paid organization because they consider them "LOSERS". If you go look inside some of their Packer boards at www.packers.com, they pretty much say this. Ask for a free PPCC trail and see for yourself...
Us fan's don't know anything about the game and judging by their stupidity,
Keep in mind, the Packers are redirecting the majority of their money income meant for players to outside sources. This can be seen by you in the NFL players salaries, as they are the cheapest team to pay players for years. Where does all this extra money go if it isn't going to players? Surprised no one is looking into this and where the mechandise monies, broadcast rights, logo's contact money, etc... Hard to believe they get the least amount of money in the entire NFL... .
Come on Packer fans or any football fan. There's some screwy things going on inside the Lambeau field doors that the public is NOT SUPPPOSE TO FIND OUT!
Wow! That's powerful stuff. Being I'm not a Packer fan, I hadn't realized they were so cheap like that. I would imagine that fans, especially season ticket holders, would be livid indeed. You all need to march to the stadium and demand change.
Being born and raised in Wisconsin and a lifelong GB Packer fan that has been too many games I don't beleive the pick was horrible but I would have gone the TE or wideout route to add a needed weapon. The packers needs are many and the packer faithful are as passionate about thier team as any other but the difference in Packerland is the tradition and expectation that has resurfaced from many years of acceptance with lackluster performance from the front office.
I woud not have taken Quinn as many have this love affair with this kid but the reality is Quinn does not havet he leadership quality that is needed in the QB position. As a NFL coach and a NFL talent scout told me nice kid but 60% talent and needs the 40% coaching. Many have said he is the prototype backup and have compared him to DOug Peterson, Brister and a host of others but without the leadership and arm strenght and would be a good backup QB but not a franchise QB. Cleveland will discover this in 2-3 years.
GB does need to desperately improve its Defense and this selection will help shore up the middle and allow the linebackers more space. I think you will be surprised by this kid in the end.
Uhh...I believe the quote by Brett Favre re: defense went; "If it wasn't for our defense we wouldn't have won 8 games last season". So much for "desperately" shoring up their defense. WR !! RB!!...Someone for Favre to count on and work with.
