The Mariners are on the verge of being by swept the Washington Nationals, in Safeco Field. I understand the Nats are a young team that might have a bright future, but not quite yet. Their pitching against a team, other than the Mariners, is just dreadful. I've tried to remain optimistic, but this is just ridiculous! Mariner fans it's time to unite and boycott. I guarantee McClarenwill be axed by Monday, and Bavasi should be in the unemploymentline with him. Ownership should have never let it get this bad. Bedard was a nice pick up, but an extra power bat was just as necessary. It's time to cut ties with fossils like Vidro. Underachievers like Jarrod Washburn. We have arguably the best 1,2 pitching combo and leadoff hitter in the game. How are we not competing? As a diehard M's fan, I can only hang my head in shame. Time to call the Dodgers and inquire about Matt Kemp, if he is truly available. I hate to say the word "rebuild". I prefer re-tool, but it's looking like it's time to rebuild from scratch. The building blocks will be youngsters like Felix and Brandon Morrow. Begin!
I'm even more amazed that they didn't stick with Jeff Clement, someone I think will be a major offensive contributor to this team. They do have a lot of young pieces and they need to decide if they want to build like the Marlins or continue to trade away prospects thinking that they are only one or two players away.
The problem with the M's right now other than the upper management is all the uncertainty. If moves are going to be made, make them so the remaining players can get on with it. This team has made its fans suffer for years with all the speculation on what are they going to do. They have never been buyers at the trade deadline other than the slocumb varitek deal that was the pinnacle of bonehead trades. Realisticly you cant fire Bavasi right now cause there is no one to replace him. Griffey is not a option this year. Tampa is going to get him and it may not be a bad idea for them to get Washburn. Bedard has not lived up to expectation but guess what, neither has Adam Jones. We only got rooked out of George Sherrill who we need bad. It is sad to say but I bet Beltre will be heading out soon, along with Ibanez. I wont be to sad to see Sexson go as he has just not panned out. Vidro will bring a decent prospect. It is just sorry that with all this talent they could'nt find a manager that can get the best out of them. They fired Pentland but they should have fired Mel Stottelmeyer. Well, there is always next decade.
i would have to totally agree..the mariners are the biggest joke in baseball and i hate to say that being that the mariners are my team...im tired of seeing us bring in over hyped players that have one good year else where and we over pay them and have to deal with there awful careers for years..i remember when seattle teams were built from within using a strong farm system and vetrens that have steady careers not just one or two good years..its time to blow this failed experiment up and start over.. adam jones and george sherrill are having great first halfs..compared to bedards less than stellar first half..i just hope that seattle doesnt let the KING go cuz that would be suicuide..with that BOOM out of here......
I think they'll hang on to Ichiro and Beltre, if they can, but Raul and other veterans like Batista and Washburn they'll definitely try to move. Felix, the young bullpen, Morrow, Yuni, Lopez, Clement, and Balentien seem like the only untouchables.
I completely agree that Stottlemyre should've been fired, but Pentland needed to be as well. Yeah, I doubt they'll fire Bavasi. I wish they could though.
Seattle will muddle along so long as the current ownership remains in place... Someone want to step up and invest what, 900 million dollars for the Mariners? Until this team has local ownership that cares about winning, this is what you're going to get... That's my rant and I'm stickin' to it!
biggest disappointment in MLB this year, especially with the Yanks and Tigers seemingly turning the corner. Mets are the only team nearly as disappointing.

The Mariners' organization just seems to be regressing more than anything else. And despite the apparent funds within their coffers.
I'm doing the best I can why doesn't anyone believe me ?
It'd seem that they'd rather do things on the cheap when it comes to their roster. Beltre has been about as useful to the team as Paris Hilton would be at Harvard studying English Literature.
Some day everyone'll begin to like me
And we all know how strong her vocabulary is don't we ? Other than that's hot can there anything else that's annoying about her ? Much like the Mariners and its management.

Bavasi gets fired! Half my wish has come true! Now John McClaren. I think they should bring in White Sox bench and former Mariner Joey Cora as the new manager and rebuild. Make Ichiro, Felix, Clement, and Morrow the franchise guys and start to develop more young players, and deal the old ones.

At least they weren't as tactless in their firing of Bavasi. As the Mets were in firing Randolph. Boy that organization has really stooped to new levels of ineptitude and mediocrity . As far as their credibility is concerned.
They make the announcement as to his firing at 3:15 am PT right after the team has just won a game on the road. If that's not an indication as to how brazen they are. Then I don't know what is.
And with regard to your Mariners I for one think that you're on the right track with regard to what's needed for the franchise.
Let's hope also that the Sonics' ownership and the NBA will be exposed for the real miscreants and devious pieces of excrement that they are. This Federal trial I for one hope will expose all of the back door and deals and exploitation that took place with Bennett and the NBA hierarchy that took place. In enabling them to try and leave the city of Seattle out in the cold !

Just got over reading allegedly what was some of Bennett's testimony in the trial. In it he admits to making mistakes and the fact that he underscored and underestimated the emotions of the fans and the city of Seattle.
I'd say that'd be transparent for everyone to see at this juncture. And if the NBA hierarchy weren't so miguided and loyal to money only. Then they'd have seen the same thing also. Either way this'll make for an interesting trial. And as to the verdict it could end up going either way.
PF is from the Northwest. I'm a huge fan of the Seahawks, Mariners, and Trail Blazers! If you don't root for your teams, even when they're losing or re-building, you are not a true fan.
