Keep in mind, I am by no means a Major League Baseball expert.
American League
AL East Champion: Boston Red Sox
AL West Champion: Seattle Mariners (John Lackey's hurt, who knows, I'm probably being too optimistic)
AL Central Champion: Cleveland Indians (Not the Tigers believe it or not)
AL Wildcard: Toronto Blue Jays
ALCS: Cleveland vs Boston
AL Champion:Cleveland
National League
NL East Champion: New York Mets (If they're healthy behind Santana, wow look out!)
NL West Champion: Los Angeles Dodgers
NL Central Champion: Milwaukee Brewers (I wouldn't consider them a long shot this year)
NL Wildcard: Chicago Cubs (I could go with Braves or Phils here too, well maybe just ATL)
NLCS: New York Mets vs Chicago Cubs (sorry Cubs fans)
NL Champion: New York Mets (They have the pitcher's park, the ace, the offense)
World Series Champion: New York Mets (though I think it will be a good series. Mets will become my new Yankees/Red Sox and I will hate them for the rest of my life)
The Hardware:
AL Rookie of the Year: Evan Longoria, 3B, Tampa Bay Rays
AL Manager of the Year: John Gibbons, Toronto Blue Jays
AL Cy Young: Felix Hernandez, SP, Seattle Mariners (He will have a chip on his shoulder the size of Mount Everest with the addition of Erik Bedard. He'll be out to prove who's really numero uno.)
AL MVP: Grady Sizemore, OF, Cleveland Indians (This guy is going to be great. I also think Miguel Cabrera or Manny Ramirez could end up with the hardware here. We'll see.)
NL Rookie of the Year: Homer Bailey, SP, Cincinnati Reds (Maybe Fukudome wins here)
NL Manager of the Year: Lou Piniella, Chicago Cubs
NL Cy Young: Johan Santana, SP, New York Mets (This guy should dominate the NL. Keyword: Should)
NL MVP: Mark Teixeira, 1B, Atlanta Braves (In a contract year and then he celebrates by signing with the Yankees. Maybe one of the Mets. David Wright? I picked him to win last year)
good show, hate all you want , but you picked a winner. i dont think atlanta will get a sniff of the wild card but the phillies will challenge the cubs for it. in the american league i like the tigers (believe it or not) have you seen that roster lately? maybe just a tad optomistic on the mariners.
i think the real challenge is to pick the nl west winner, ican see a repeat of last year with the dodgers being the team to beat

I'd really like to see your prediction about King Hernandez come true. That would be something... Now if the M's would just sign Barry Bonds for DH... That might just be what would put them over the top, but that's way too simple and Bavasi will never figure it out... If the object is to win the World Series, they could get Bonds for a small contract with big performance incentives... The M's need another bat, and the best one in baseball is available for cheap!!!
I remember you posted recently that the Tigers' pen is their main weakness. I can see that coming back to bite them in the backside. I could see Cleveland winning the AL Central and going deep into the playoffs. As for the NL, I can see the Mets being in contention for either the NL East or wild card. The NL West will beat up on each other too badly.
I don't know, Teixeira put up some nice numbers in the limited amount of games he played with Atlanta last season.
I don't see the Mariners getting Bonds. I think Bonds will probably retire in shame, because no team wants the negative publicity that comes with signing him. I'd rather the M's give the DH to Jeff Clement this season, but they want him to come up as a catcher. DH should be a power position, but isn't for the M's with Vidro. Bonds would be ideal, if it weren't for all the baggage.
I'm telling you guys, if the Mets stay healthy and one or two of the pitchers behin Santana win at least 10 to 12 games, the Mets wind up in the Series.
I can see the Mets being in contention for either the NL East or wild card. The NL West will beat up on each other too badly. thanks for sharing! i will paste this at my forum on "LargeMingle.com". and i am happy to be called BBW=big beautiful woman by my friends on hot big people meeting club LargeMingle.com
In all honesty, in terms of who I'd root for. These are the division winners I would want to win, but the Giants may be towards the bottom of the division.
AL East: Toronto Blue Jays
AL West: Seattle Mariners (obviously)
AL Central: Cleveland Indians
AL Wildcard: Detroit Tigers
NL East: Philadelphia Phillies
NL West: San Diego Padres
NL Central: St. Louis Cardinals
NL Wildcard: San Francisco Giants
That said, they will have to play their ***** (male donkeys) off the month of April and get a good leg up on the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, Azusa, Cucamonga and all points east, and then keep the heat on. Bedard needs to get used to the AL West and do it quickly (i.e. better than he has the past couple of weeks....though he has not been BAD by any matter of means, and El Cartuela needs to play like a man possessed. Then if the other three can just keep from getting lit up.....), and a couple of certain infielders need to get their stuff together and start hitting like players in those positions are supposed to.
I see people are underestimating the young Rockies and that insane lineup they have. They are only going to be more explosive on offense, the middle relief and the closer(Corpas) are filthy.
The starting pitching is average however, Cook and Jimenez are fifteen win capable to go along with Francis(17 wins) If the plethora of pitchers they have battling it out for the fourth and fifth spots in the rotation don't work out, they also have a few options to bring up from triple a.
Don't sleep on these guys.
The over/under on these guys is 83 wins lol. If you don't plunk down serious money on the over you're crazy.....If you gamble that is.
If you like to play lotto, you have to do this. It's just as much fun only this time you'll actually win something.

PF. Not a bad post aside from the obvious Mariner bias. I too live in Mariner country, a transplant from New England.
I'd like to see the Mariners do well, and if they can hit, and capture some of that magic that seems to come along in Seattle every few years, I definitely think the Halos are withing their reach.
Bule Jays as wild card? I'd wager some money that it will come out of the Central, and that only if the Yankees cant pull it back together. With their resources and their farm system, I dont not see Yanks management settling for any LESS than a wildcard.
P and F are the initials for my first name and my last name.
I think the Jays are going to be serious contenders this year, while I don't see that coming from the Yanks. The Blue Jays have some nice depth in the pitching department.
The METS will not win. This is an organization that is a born lloser. They win once in a while and then they tank. The will not be in the playoffs and willie is gone. Talk to me at playoff time.
Oh my!! Finally, someone giving the Indians some credit!! Listening to some of these guys, you would think the Tigers are the '27 Yankees revisited and have it all locked up. Looks like you're one of the few that actually knows that pitching wins pennants, unlike to so-called "experts". Believe me, claiming you're no expert might just mean you're more intelligent. The Indians lineup is definitely no joke either, and don't be suprised if they put up as many runs as Detroit. Kudos to PF!!
P.S.--The Indians beat Santana 4 or 5 times last year, which leads me to beleive they would handle the Mets in a 7 game series.
just thought i would say that for the most part i agree with your predictions. Last night I made a few predictions of my own and thought I'd put a link to my blog on here. GO M'S!

PF is from the Northwest. I'm a huge fan of the Seahawks, Mariners, and Trail Blazers! If you don't root for your teams, even when they're losing or re-building, you are not a true fan.
