Bring DJack back to Seattle!Darrell Jackson was released by the Niners, who appear to be going a different direction. While Jackson isn't quite as great as he used to be (injuries will do that to you), he would still be an addition to the receiver corps, in the likely event that DJHackettsigns with another team. DJack had kind of a bitter departure from Seattle initially, but I'm hoping GM Tim Ruskell will seriously ponder offering DJack a contract for the upcoming season. I'm sure some Seahawks fans wouldn't agree with me, but what the heck. Bring DJack back! The receivers, other than Bobby Engram, were just okay last year, so why not bring another veteran into the fold? I mean they already crushed my dreams for next season by signing Julius Jones, so why not take the risk with DJack?
As a loyal Seahawk fan I must protest. DJ had his day, the 49ers took a chance on him and it didn't pan out. You remember when the Hawks made that trade and more than a few eyebrows were raised as he went to an in division rival? Now you know why. DJ is OTH (over the hill). On top of that it was rumored that he was a disruptive presence in the clubhouse. They were able to convert him into a 4th round pick in last year's draft (Mansfield Wrotto, OG, Ga. Tech) and that was a good thing. The Niners screwed up, the Hawks did good.
In addition, the Seahawks have several young WRs full of potential beyond on the ones we're all familiar with. Auburn's Courtney Taylor and Oregon's Jordan Kent were 2007 draft picks that are still with the team plus 2006 draft pick Ben Obomanu also out of Auburn. These plus the current starting corps of Bobby Engram, Nate Burleson, Deion Branch and another rookie, Logan Payne. Whether it pans out or not, the most intriguing in my mind is Jordan Kent. He is a natural athlete that only played one or two seasons with Oregon. He's tall and he's fast. I'm hoping he will develope into something special.
No, DJ was good in his day but that day is long gone... The Seahawks are doing just fine without him.
Yeah, I agree for the most part. I just think they need another veteran receiver, but you're probably right about DJack. I'd like to see if he has anything left in the tank and I don't see teams lining up for DJack.
The young receivers could pan out, but I think the Hawks truly lack that go-to, superstar receiver that most teams have. I like Branch, but he's not that type of guy. I like Bobby Engram, but he's no spring chicked and a better slot receiver. Nate Burleson has never really impressed me, other than on kick returns. While I don't think losing DJ Hackett will hurt at all, it just seems like they need that big time receiver to open things up for the other receivers.
Maybe that guy is in the draft. I'd like to see Jonathan Stewart fall to the Hawks. Before his surgery plans were announced, I didn't think he would. Now, who knows? I really believe the Putzier signing is going to be huge for the Hawks, since he can actually catch the football.
No way. He had his time and threw such a fit that we had to trade him. I don't think there would be too many happy players on the team if he came back. Even if Hackett leaves we will be alot better off without bringing DJack back.
Wait a minute, did we just we just try to incorporate Darrell Jackson and go-to superstar receiver in the same sentence?
Nah swinging SA for Roy Williams or Chad Johnson (highly possible since dull knives in the drawer own Matt Millen and Mike Brown), that's another story.
I don't think there's much interest in Alexander.
Maybe a late round draft pick, but he's got a big contract. I'd rather they restructure his deal and give him a chance, but that's not realistic. They should draft Alexander's replacement, Jones's backup and eventual succesor.
Considering that Jones is essentially here to replace Morris, SA will stay unless Chris Johnson is indeed all that or Stewart is indeed good to go in July.
Anyway, I'm convinced the same people that think JJ is SA's replacement are the same people that thought we actually *did* give Nate 7/49.
If we were able to land Stewart, I would definitely be psyched about the Hawks future. If JJ wasn't brought in to replace Alexander, then why was TJ Duckett also signed? As a fullback or depth, I'm guessing.
I meant to say this last time, but I think DJack would be a good veteran addition, not the superstar wideout the Hawks need. Those were two seperate thoughts. The universal opinion of DJack seems to be, "Don't bring him back", so I can live with that. However, I still want the big time receiver, so trade a first or second rounder for Ocho Cinco already!
Why was Duckett signed? Simple, a much-needed power back (third and 2 anybody?) that was sorely lacking. Has nothing to do with either Jones or SA/whomever, if you can increase your chances in the backfield, why not?
The Hawks will go RB if nothing else because a quick glance at the 09 class is hardly inspiring. Had James Davis not gone back to Clemson there wouldn't be a projected first rounder in the bunch.
mmmm, I dunno, call me a pessimist, but I don't think Shaun is going to make it past mini-camp, if he makes it that far. There are about three too many RB's hanging around, and his contract is the most expensive of the bunch.
PF is from the Northwest. I'm a huge fan of the Seahawks, Mariners, and Trail Blazers! If you don't root for your teams, even when they're losing or re-building, you are not a true fan.
