Saints WR Cuts
Aug 28, 2008 | 6:23PM | report this

Well this is my very first blog and I want to say that I'm just expressing my opinion so if you don't agree, that's fine just don't be a butt about it. I am a Louisiana native, I live in the small town of Dulac, that’s about an hour out of New Orleans. I love to follow football, both college and NFL. Of course I root for all of the state's teams but I also have a few out of state favorites, they include but not limited to Tennessee Vols, Kentucky Wildcats, and the Jacksonville Jaguars

Okay, with the final roster cuts coming up soon, the Saints will have to let go of some WRs, I think they will keep 5 on the roster. Here are my thoughts on who will get those spots; my order doesn't represent what position on the depth chart that I believe they will end up at.

#1: Marques Colston - No explanation needed, this guy has been money since he was drafted.

#2: David Patten - Can't argue with veteran experience, and he's not too shabby a receiver either.

#3: Robert Meachem - I think he has showed his ability that made the Saints draft him over a CB last year in the 1st round of the draft.

#4: Lance Moore - You could throw a greased pig at this kid and he's catch it like he had stick'em on.

#5: Adrian Arrington: Rookie that has a lot of potential in my mind, he seems to have heart on the field. The turf toe severely hurt his chances but I think the coaches will see the potential and give him the final spot.

The Saints have one of the best problems that a team can end up with. Too many receivers that can make the final roster of a number of teams but not enough spots. Here's my thought on the cut receivers.

#1: Devery Henderson - Has the speed to burn the quickest DBs, but with hands of stone, you won't get very many chances to contribute positively. I will however say that if Adrian Arrington doesn't make the final roster either by getting waived (big mistake) or by getting put on IR (best option) Henderson will grab the #5 spot.

#2: Terrance Copper - Great 3rd or 4th option at WR but the other players on the roster just do the job better. I will also however like to note that depending on Henderson's final performance against Miami, Copper could get the #5 spot if Henderson fails to show any ability to hang on to throws and/or if my Arrington scenario doesn't play out.

#3: Skyler Green - Would probably be a weak 4 or decent 5 on any other team, but his niche is returns. The Saints have Pierre Thomas, Aaron Stecker, Tracy Porter and Reggie Bush to fill that role so I doubt he has a chance.

#4: Todd Blythe - 1 rec for 15 yds in 3 games, we'll see about the Miami final stats but I doubt he does much if anything if he even gets on the field.
