I was watching the Angels - Rangers game because I'm in a tough fantasy race and I have Jered Weaver. Anyway, in the first inning with two men on long time Angel fan favorite Tim Salmon steps up to the plate. He has announced that he is retiring after the year so manager Mike Scoicia decided to start him and bat him third in the order because of sentimental reasons. After the long ovation, Salmon hit a three run home run and received a louder ovation. The look of joy on Salmon's face is something that I will never forget and I'm sure this is a moment he will remember for the rest of his life.
Hey, I'm Nick Shlain. I'm a young sportswriter. Check out my other columns at sportsinferno .com, it's a Detroit based site with a message board and a front page for articles. The site is run by Mike Valenti (radio host) and Terry Foster (radio host and columnist for the Detroit News).
I was born in New York and now live in Detroit. I root for the Yankees, Michigan State Spartans, Giants, and if the Knicks could fire Isiah Thomas then I might be able to take them seriously. Although I don't live there anymore I can still get the sense of NY Sports by listening to Mike and the Mad Dog on the online stream.
