What the hell do people mean when they throw out the word "aggressive"?
It seems that when ever a driver in NASCAR feels th need to ram someone out of the way he is called "aggressive". One driver who has been talked about lately is Juan Pablo Montoya who talked about respect in NASCAR on the new ABC show in primetime. He defines aggressive as a driver using his car as a weapon other wise the guy is just racing you hard. Well it seems that Juan Pablo has been way too aggressive because other drivers in NASCAR have been complaining about his driving style and have responded to his driving by showing him how drivers retaliate in this series. Maybe Juan got to used to having people throw themselves at his feet, but he has to understand that to get respect you must earn it. Being the best driver in F1 and IRL isn't going to do much for a guy wanting to get his feet wet in NASCAR. I have nothing against the guy, but if he's going to race people hard he has to learn to get it in return. NASCAR is considered the best series in motorsports where the best drivers come to prove themselves, but the greats did it with class and dominance (not by pissing the best in the sport off). He is no longer the best in the field of 43 cars and he has to understand that there are 42 other drivers that are as talented as he is. The point is that he has to learn to give and take. When he doesn't have the best car he has to let those who do pass. Making enemy's is not going to win him 7 titles, but a bunch of DNF's courtesy of Kevin Harvick and Tony Stewart. If he is as talented as people think then he should let his talent do the talking and not add fuel to the fire by mouthing off to reporters once the race is over. Hey even Dale Earnhardt knew when to turn off the intimidator side of himself.
Tell me what you think about aggressive driving or Juan Pablo Montoya.
I'm working on another piece that is going to bring the statistics up to date. However, through his first 15 races this year, he had finished on the lead lap in only three and had major incidents in ten.
BENDING SHEET METAL IN TWO OUT OF EVERY THREE RACES AND FOLL IN ONLY ONE IN FIVE IS WHY I HAVE AN ISSUE WITH HIM.
Those numbers are just amazing.
It is why I refer to him as "Crash". I want to like him. I think he's talented. But he is beyond aggressive. He is dangerous.
Any other driver would have been hammered by NASCAR for aggressive driving. He is being handled with kid gloves.
It certainly seems that the “good ole boys” have decided to take on the role of bully, but I doubt that Juan Pablo Montoya is going to play along.Kevin Harvick, who blasted through the car of Scott Pruett two weeks ago in the Busch Series race at Montreal, decided to go mano on mano with Montoya following an incident during the Nextel Cup race last Sunday at Watkins Glen. The problem wasn’t caused by Montoya, known for aggressive driving. The root cause of the multi-car accident was Truex. The New Jersey native was attempting to gain a spot on the restart and when Montoya drove low to protect the position, Truex made heavy contact with the Dodge. It was interesting to observe the ESPN coverage of the incident. They had comments from Harvick, teammate Burton and car owner Richard Childress, all of whom placed the blame on Montoya. Harvick, who somehow escaped a penalty following his rough driving at Montreal, is of the belief that other drivers should get out of his way during a race. Kevin, you’re not good enough for that to happen. It was refreshing to watch Montoya, who was taken out of the Busch race at the Glen by Steve Wallace’s blunder on a restart, stand up to the bullying tactics of Harvick. The real problem for Harvick, Truex and a number of other Cup drivers is they realize that Montoya came to stock car racing with a huge amount of talent and tons of experience. They know that next year Montoya will probably be competing for wins with Tony Stewart, Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson and Dale Earnhardt Jr. and trying to stay out of the way of back markers.
I guess that it would take a lot to out do T.S.,K.H.,and both Busch bros.to be considered overly aggressive,and didn't Jr. wreck Mikey most of their last year together. But I guess that having that all important Busch title makes Harvick the voice of reason,after all Harvick has 8 or 9 wins in 6+ years and has shown his #### more than once trying to be the man,and has been sat down in that sad attempt,dogging on Kurt Busch when he had a championship shows a wanna be mentality. Maybe RCR will be back on top of it's game,but not with the current drivers in cup.(sorry Jeff}
JPM must give respect to earn it. He does not do himself any favors with his off the track arrogance either much less his on the track stupidity. It is funny how NASCAR keeps their mouth shut on this topic and does nothing but put him in commercials and try to promote him and diversification. NASCAR sees money in him. Diversity is one thing but they turn there head to an arrogant piece of SShit. He driving is dangerous not over aggressive.

JPM has stated that he'll do anything it takes to win. He also stated at the beginning of the year not to call him a rookie. He has a chip on his shoulder. He's not top dog anymore. He needs to learn what others have learned, respect in others gets you respect.
vdeleon, I'd love to know what race it was you were watching. Truex was the faster car and JPM took him almost into the grass trying to block him. When that failed he got lose in the corner before Truex ever touched him. As to heavy contact, Truex tapped him going into the corner. He hardly made heavy contact as the lack of severe damage on his car showed.
Had Tony, Kevin or several other drivers done they would have been invited to the trailer for a chat. JPM hasn't made many friends this year. Even J Johnson has said he's more or less a wreck waiting to happen and J.J. usally doesn't speak like that.
I tend to think that Kevin, Truex and others are worried about JPM. Every driver needs to worry about each other. Most of them are capable of winning it all and I dare say most will as the years go by.
okay, first of all montoya is not nearly as bad as Kyle Busch, Tony Stewart, Matt Kenseth and Dale Jr.
I didnt like that wreck, considering i like all 3 drivers who dropped out, but it was clearly truex's fault(who i'm also a fan of) i'm sure he didnt mean to, it was just racing. End of story
I think that to be good you have to be aggresive.
Being up front, I just don't like JPM period. He has no class, he double talks, no personality, thinks he is better than every one else, and drives like he's at the old roundy round tracks.
Aggressive, No, Dangerous YES.
By the way, If he wasn't up to speed he shouldn't have even tried to block Truex. Juans fault all the way!!!!

If you had really seen the incident you would know that Treux went high and Montoya swearved up in fron of him. Neither went down the track until Montoya spun out of control and into the path of Harvick after being hit from behind by Treux. LOOK AT THE TAPES!!
Vdeleon
You made reference to the "good ole boys". Since that remark generally is indicative of a racial bias against white, rural, southerners, I want to remind you Harvick, Stewart,Jeff Gordon, Jimmy Johnson, and many other NASCAR drivwers are not white ,rural, southerners. OK!!
F--king PC police where is the outrage??
I was born in San Francisco, CA and was raised in a small town south of there. I'm currently at school living in the dorms. I have been a huge sports fan for the longest time. I'm proud to say that my favorite sports are MLB, NASCAR, and IRL. My favorites from those sports: Oakland A's, Kevin Harvick/Tony Stewart, and Tony Kanan.
