Jets Vs. Bye Preview
Oct 04, 2008 | 2:12PM | report this
The Jets are 3 point favorites against the bye week and I am not only hoping for a win, but for the Jets to come out of it healthy.

Their quarterback-nursing a sore ankle, Favre has time to get better as long as he doesn't spend too much time scoping out Woody's thousand acre compound looking for a spot to set up his tree stand this winter.

Their wide receiver-has time to heal his broken heart (and hamstring) to develop his BUSINESS relationship with the new leader of the offense and show us that week four was not an anomaly, but what we have been waiting for in terms of production and potential this season.

Their nose tackle-has time to heal his back, return to form, and in the process potentialy get to the prowl-bowl this year.

Their kicker-has a moment to relflect on wether he will be kicking for the Jets or working at Stop and Shop for the next ten years.

And last but not least......

The guy who runs the NewYork Jets.com web site-why does he have a job?  Here is an actual picture he posted in the photo gallery for the Flight Crew.....

You don't need glasses, but I can not say the same for the webmaster.

Seriously, what are they thinking?  With the lovely ladies of the flight crew your focus, this is what you come up with?  They are not doing their job on the flight crew and that is a shame.

Woody, you gotta keep an eye on this.

Jets Patriots Preview
Sep 12, 2008 | 2:09PM | report this
Before I write my preview pages I check out the injury reports for each team to see how it affects my prediction.
I guess you know where this is going.
Not that it means so much in the whole grand scheme of things, but this time there is an exception.
I am sure that you know where this is going.
The injury report-it's ugly this week for one of the teams.
Yes, I am going there, that place everyone else has gone to, that sweet spot of sports writing, the catastrophic injury that inevitably changes the season for a team. That irresistible headline that has grabbed the sports section of every newspaper, magazine, sports report and blog for the last week.
In case you missed it, here is the big headline: The game this Sunday, at the Meadowlands will be missing an all important, clutch player for one of the teams.
Mike Nugent is out for the Jets.
Normally this would not be a big deal because in the last seven years, the kicking game has been a non factor in deciding an outcome between these biannual contests, but this time, it might come down to an extra point or two, or a missed field goal.
In fact, the spread in this game is so close, the Jets might not pull out the win-at least not according to those who are interested in what Las Vegas has to say about it.
The burning questions for this game are:
1. Will the Jets pass rush get to the still wet behind the ears quarterback and keep him off balance enough for him to feel the pressure and loose his first start as an NFL pro?
2. Can the well-worn, future Hall of Fame iron man of the NFL shake off the rust, get rid off the ball quickly (and accurately) without throwing it to the other team?
3. Can the Jets defense, who held Miami to under 50 yards rushing last week do the same to the Patriots (can they stop Lamont Jordan???)?
4. Can Revis Rhodes and Lowery keep Randy Moss and company from finding the end zone?
If you answered "YES!" to all of these questions then congratulations! You are correct!
Simply put, the Jets are a team on the upswing and the Rats are an aging, older, slower team that can not protect their quarterback and are 15 game away from a major "rebuilding".
Prediction: (against the advice of my train conductor) Jets 24, Patriots 17.
Now let's take a look at Meredith from the Jets Flight Crew at a recent Maxim photo shoot:

Jets Vs. Miami
Sep 06, 2008 | 10:09AM | report this
Prediction: Jets 24, Miami 17

It has been a very interesting time for me since I last posted a blog.  My team, the New York Jets has acquired a new (future hall of fame) quarterback, spent over $140 million on free agents, moved into my home town and introduced PSL's to their longtime fans.

The addition of Brett Favre  propels this team out from the depths of mediocrity and gives them a legitimate chance at making the playoffs, instilling a win-now attitude of the likes that gang green has not seen in a long time-if ever.  Jets fans often had to watch as the big name free agents went to other teams, but that has changed this year in a big way, and the improvement at quarterback gives this team a whole lot of potential.  The receivers are legitimate threats all over the field, and on every play.  There will be no "decoy" routs.  Not plays off.  The running game will open up along with more use of the tight ends-especially in the end zone.

There have been improvements along the line that was basically a joke last year.  Our quarterback will have plenty of time this week to make plays.  In the weeks to come, this line will only get better as they get to know each other and "mesh".  Expect Debrickashaw and Mangold to shine next to Alan Faneca, and I feel that Woody will do well at right guard.  All in all, this is a offensive line that is going to be unrecognizable from last year's mass.  It all looks like Christmas for Thomas Jones, who will have 1,800 yards and 10 touchdowns this year.

On defense things look much better as well with the massive Kris Jenkins stuffing up the middle.  Expect him to draw a double team when he is in there, and expect big things from Simone Pouha when Jenkins is rotated out.  This is bound to create opportunities for Sean Ellis and Bryan Thomas-who may be on his way out if he doesn't take of this year and show some vast improvement.  Calvin Pace is a tremendous addition to the team as well.  I am predicting at least 6 sacks out of him this season-a conservative number to be sure.  My guess is that he gets 2 sacks on Chad this weekend alone.

I hated to see Johnathan Vilma go, but David Harris has been better than I could possible imagine and I am predicting a pro-bowl year for this sophomore player who came out of nowhere last season to lead the team in tackles (86) and having 5 sacks for the season-despite starting in only 9 games.

Despite my assurances from Randy Lange (who writes a blog on NewYorkJets.com) the Jets still have not put a David Harris jersey in the Jets shop.  If you want third-string quarterback Eric Angie's number 9 Jersey it's there, but no David Harris.  What a joke.

Meanwhile, my small home town of Madison NJ (right next to Florham Park) has gone completely green from the Jets moving in next door.  I have been to the new facility and I can tell you it is exceptional.  First class all around.  I hope the fans from long island understand the Jets need to be closer to the Meadowlands and aren't alienated by this move.

The Jets introduced a liberal PSL policy that left 27,000 fans with no seat license at all-quite a generous act.  I would never have guessed it.  I see PSL's as an opportunity, not a deterrent and I would have been happy to pay $1,000 per seat, but the Jets did not see it that way and left the entire upper bowl PSL-free.  More on that in future blogs.  This one is done.

This is my welcome back blog-expect more to follow.

As for this weekend, lets go Jets!  See you at the rally in New York city this Friday, september 12th at the Early Show plaza where the Jets Flight Crew will unveil their new outfits.  Until then here is Jessica (I think) in the old outfit.

Go Jets!

Go Jets!!

Jets-Pats Preview (Round One)

Jets-Pats Preview (Round One)

Prediction: Jets 24, Patriots 17

There is no doubt that the Jets are a better team this year, but have they done enough to catch the Patriots, who have won four straight division titles?

Here is a look at some of the key players on the Jets to keep an eye on this Sunday.

Thomas Jones-he was a great off-season pickup from Chicago who can help the running game and take pressure off of Chad Pennington by opening up the play action game.

Derrelle Revis-the Jets traded up to get him in the first round, and he has what appears to be all of the skills to be a shutdown corner.  He could spend much of his day covering Randy Moss.

David Harris-our second round pick looks like a natural playing in the 3-4 scheme-who will he be on the field with?  Will he take time from Vilma?

Jacob Bender-replacing Pete Kendal is no small task, and Bender has plenty of room for improving his pass blocking, but he is a very talented run blocker who can open holes for Jones and help improve our running game.

Questions for the Jets:

Can they stop the run?  Run defense has been a focal point of the Jets weaknesses for years now, and with an improved secondary, opposing teams will try more often to run the ball.

Will the defense play like they did in the last 7 games of 2006?  The second half of the season showed much improvement over the first half as the team learned how to play Mangini’s defense-now we will see how much was retained.

Can they put pressure on Brady?  Let’s hope so-planting Tom Brady on the ground is a great way to diminish his effectiveness.  It is how the Jets beat the Patriots last season and it will work if Ellis, Robertson and Thomas have good games.

Will the fans show up?  With over 5,000 parking spaces eliminated, permit parking initiated and shuttle busses implemented, we will see how it all plays out.

Finally, the Jets have their own cheerleaders so you will never again see opposing teams cheerleaders on my blog.

Say hello to our new “flight crew”.

Jets will stomp the Patriots
Jan 04, 2007 | 7:04PM | report this

I find myself in the uncomfortable position of restating myself-mutch like George W.

We will win.

We will be victorious.

The Jets against the Pats?  How can we lose?  How can we win?|

The Pats are the favorites, many people have forgotten that Tom Brady (a known whimp) has nothing to root for in this weeks game.

Been there, done that.

There is no way that he can forget that the hungry, the desirable, the team of destiny will be heading to his town this weekend.

This is not about a new car Tom, it is about destiny.

Wildcard Preview

Jets Vs. Pats

Prediction: Jets 24, Pats 21

Oooooooooooooohh, I’m sooooooooo sared of the Patriots.

Let me tell you something-the Patriots are overrated.

The Jets, the true underdogs, can and just might pull out a win.

Tell me about the match-ups-tell me about coaching.

Even-they are even.  This game will be decided by who wants it more-who has more to prove in this game?

Who really has something to prove in this game, what players will be playing with everything on the line?

What quarterback will be wanting it more the “Oh gee, is that car for me because I just won another Superbowl?” punk, or will it be the “Man, I got something to prove!” quarterback?

Will it be the coach that looks to the other with distain, or the coach who feel respect and admiration for the other?

The Patriots are done.  Yeah, I said it and I may get a nasty reply or two, but I tell it like it is from the gut, not from stats or an in depth knowledge of the players or their stats.

Statistics do not tell the whole story.

They don’t tell you about the mindset of the team, or momentum, or fate.

This blog focuses on those aforementioned intangibles.

Heck, I live for that.  That is what makes life exciting!

I have been telling you for almost a year how good this Jets team is.  The problem is nobody is listening.

Nobody listened when I said they would go 8-8 back in July, nobody listened when I predicted that they would split with the Patriots this year, nobody listened when I told them how good this Jets team could be.

Heck, I have been a relationship long enough not to let being ignored bother me.

If I am wrong?  So what!  The Jets are a team built on the future, on the way up.

They are a young team who has found the right balance between smarts and strengths.

I am not afraid to say that I am afraid of the Patriots, because I am.

I am also afraid FOR the Patriots, because all the pressure is on them this weekend.

The pressure is not on Chad Pennington, Tom Brady will have to “shoulder” this load.

A note to the Jets: Enjoy it, have fun!

Our team is built on the future, not for today.

But we will beat the Patriots, this Sunday, and we will advance ant the Patriots will go home.
I GUARANTEE IT!

Jets Dolphins Preview

New York JetsMiami Dolphins

Prediction: Jets 24 Dolphins 13

Here we sit, late in December with our own destiny at hand.

Oh how I miss those warm winds down in Miami.  I’ve climbed a few coconut trees in my time.  My brother and I used to smash them off the balcony of the Holiday Inn in West Palm Beach.  Anyone know if GiGi’s is still around?  Nevermind.

Not many, not even I could have imagined the implications tonight’s game holds.

The New York Jets could secure the sixth seed tonight and with a win next week they could be looking at a rematch with the Colts for the first wildcard game.  If that game were today, I would take the Jets.

The Jets are gaining momentum and have been playing very well in the first half of game since the break.  The Offense has the ability to take an early lead, thus forcing opponents to abandon their game plan and playing catch-up.  The Defense has been allowing points, but mainly in the second half.

The games in Miami often have a large Jets fan base, so look for a small sea of green in that stands.

This is a great rivalry-no matter what I do not expect the Dolphins to give in, but don’t you think that if you are a member of the Miami Dolphins that you would be indulging a little more than you would if you were a member of the Jets?

Think about it-it is Christmas, you are having a few cocktails with your friends and family, and you either think to yourself “I have a big game tomorrow, I better watch myself” or are you thinking “Aw the heck with it-it’s Christmas, let’s celebrate!”

Human nature is hard to avoid, and the Jets want it more, not by a little bit, by a mile.

The Dolphins are thinking about cocktails and appetizers.  Trust me.

Some people may say that this is wrong-I say it is not, it is exactly the way that you or I would think.  Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.

Who cares about the game tonight?  Not the Dolphins.

They, like many have discovered the true meaning of the holiday spirit.  Alcohol-the only legal drug, and lots of it.  It might make getting punched in the face by Nick Mangold a lot less irritating.  Speaking of Nick, I’m getting his jersey as soon as it comes out.

Drink up Fish-heads, and here’s looking at next year’s draft!

It’s Christmas, forget about the Jets and how they are going to win at their home away from home-Jets stadium south.

Hey Jets-want to know what the fans really want for Christmas?

Say hello to Lacie, Jaime, Danielle, and Janeen.

Jets vs. Bills Preview

 New York JetsBuffalo Bills

Prediction: Jets 28 Bills 13

Playoffs.  I’ll say it because I know they can’t.

Playoffs baby, that is what this game means and what over 75,000 fans will be thinking tomorrow when the Jets face the Bills.

When we win we will be one step closer to the playoffs where anything can happen.

Just ask the Steelers-who were 7-5 at this time last year.

They made the playoffs.

The Jets look like a playoff team-playing what many feels was a perfect first half against Green Bay.

The Jets act like a playoff team-by not mentioning the word “playoffs”.

By focusing on one opponent at a time, they keep their attention to detail.

Coach Hunter, I feel your pain.  I was sitting in the end zone during the “fake spike game” against the Dolphins.  While the Jets were caught napping, the fans knew what was going on, we were screaming in the end zone.

That was another time, another team.

We are looking at the Jets-version 5.0.

Jet Versions-Past to Current

1966-71 1.0

1971-1978 1.5

1978-1988 2.0

1988-1997 3.0

1997-2002 4.0

2002-2005 4.2

2006- 5.0

What does all of this mean?  Well, software experts will tell you-5.0 is the best version so far.  It took in all on the positive aspects of the previous versions and built on them.

It benefited greatly from the 4.0 version-the new platform where every player was accountable under a new winning philosophy.

While 4.2 was a minor improvement, the overall product was unreliable-it crashed without notice and was inconsistent from year to year but there were important improvements-Vilma, Rhodes, Robertson-all parts that help make up 5.0.

I guess the message to the die-hard Jets fans is this: Do not be afraid of 5.0, it is more reliable than previous versions and is guaranteed not to crash.

Playoffs, playoffs, playoffs, the Jets are going to the playoffs and the KC Chiefs (who will be devoured by the Ravens like a “Triple Bypass Burger” from the Heart Attack Grill ((http://www.heartattackgrill.com/)) are not!

Ha-ha!

There-I laid it on the line and said it.  I believe in my team.  So shoot me Skip and Rob and Steve and Rich and Matt and H and Balls and Rodger and Mike and Scott and John and Pete and Bill and Rob and Mike and Jeff and JT and Vincent and JT (2) and Troy and everyone else who doesn’t want to put it in writing, I will, I have I have said it all along-the Jets are a whole new team, the past is in the past and the future lay ahead with a yellow brick road that leads us to our Oz-the Playoffs, and a shot at the ultimate glory-Superbowl XXI.

For everyone who doesn’t believe, now is your chance because this boat is sailing tomorrow at 4:15 p.m. eastern standard time, and anyone not onboard will be waiving from the docks as this mighty ship sets sail from the dock in East Rutherford NJ.

The very docks that Tom Coughlin will be waving goodbye from in a few weeks-but heading in a different direction.

The only thing lame about the Jets is how the current front office refuses to publish any pictures of our new cheerleaders.  It leaves me no choice but to look elseware for some talent.

Say hello to what the Jets should be doing

Jets-Packers Preview
Dec 03, 2006 | 7:06AM | report this

New York JetsGreen Bay Packers

Jets Packers

Prediction: Jets 17 Packers 10

It is always hard to imagine myself rooting against Bret Farve.

I have seen the Jets beat him twice, and it is uncomfortable-sort of like watching someone beat Santa Clause in a one on one basketball game.

I love the Jets, but it is always a treat to watch Bret Farve play the game of football.  He is what the game is all about.

Chad Pennington will never be a Brett Farve.  The good new is that he doesn’t have to be-our team is not built on any one player-right?  As long as he isn’t terrible, as long as the ugly side of Chad doesn’t make the trip to Lambeau Field.

I checked the weather and lake effect snow is predicted for today to be heavy at times.  I have experienced such snow squalls and they can be a force to be reckoned with.

Bret Farve, A.J. Hawk, Lambeau Field and the lake effect snow are just a few of the things to be on the lookout for today, but the larger picture is what we in Jets land have to look out for.

The New York Jets have been all over the place this season, a Jekyll and Hyde team that has not yet put together enough wins to be called consistent.

Even though the Jets have won six games this season they still have not hit my mark of 8-8 and are in danger of missing the wildcard because of a loss to Cleveland and the resurgent Kansas City Chiefs.

The Jets can’t afford to loose this game-it is a must win situation.  They have to win out to prove that they are for real, to make the playoffs and to secure Eric Mangini as Rookie Head Coach of the Year.

When the Jets beat New England they showed that they had potential, when Chicago shut them out they showed they were inconsistent.

When Jacksonville crushed them they showed this project could take years to turn this around.  When they lost to Cleveland they showed us they were the same old Jets.

In order to erase the ghosts of seasons past we need to put our mark on the month of December.  We need to own this month, finish strong and make our own mark on every team we play.  The die-hard fans that doubt the team, the New York media, the NFL, they all need to know that the New York Jets are for real.

If we can win out we are for real.  Don’t just go out to Lambeau field and beat Brett Farve just to have it mean nothing.

I saw plenty of photo opportunities from the Texans game for the Jets to take some pictures of the flag girls for their web site.  If they did, they aren’t sharing them.

New York JetsHouston Texans

Jets Texans Preview

Prediction: Jets 17 Texans 10

New York is the toughest place to play football.  Here is an example.

If I were to tell you three weeks ago that the New York Jets would face their two toughest opponents back to back and split those games, you would have felt good about it.

So why are there so many bad feelings from the fans going into this game?  Why is everyone so upset with an onside kick attempt?  What is causing the rumblings in Jet Nation?  The answer is obvious.

The fans are afraid that their quarterback may be letting them down, that they may be looking at a quarterback controversy, or another change to face the unknown.

Chad has got to perform today and for the rest of the season, he has got to get it together right now.

I know that a lot of this falls on Chad as our team leader, but let me ask you, who is our Quarterbacks coach?  What role does he play in all of this?

Where is Brian Schottenhimer’s role in all of this?  How about the organization-the front office?

Chad Pennington has performed well for others, so why not now?  What piece of the puzzle has changed that has gotten Chad so out of place?

If the team says his arm is fine, then the team has to be to blame, not necessarily Chad, but his supporting members.

The writing is on the wall-a loss today would almost certainly put the Jets out of the playoff race and result in the chain of events that would lead to Kellen Clemson starting at least two (maybe four) games this season.

Okay, that is everybody’s fears, but that may not be the reality of the situation.

The reality may be that Chad simply had a few bad games this season and next year in the same system he will be a whole lot better.  He has no mentor on the team, he is the leader and he will be fine.  This is our third defensive coordinator in as many years, so give the guy a chance because he is basically carrying this offense on his back.  They have  to step up together as a team and win three in a row to build some momentum.

I’m saying this could be a “one or done” deal.

Win this one or you are done.

If Chad has a good day we are going to be fine, if he is a mess we may see a switch at halftime.

One or done, the “boo-birds” will be at the stadium today folks.

Notes: The New York Jets not so recently added flag carriers to their web site.  The fans at the stadium seem to enjoy them-especially when they put down the flags and pick up their pom-poms.

You won’t find their own section on the New York Jets web site, and they have been rotating the same pictures since the Detroit game in October.  How can the organization be missing the boat on this one?  If I were running the team I would be promoting the heck out of them, personal appearances and all in the same manner as, well the Houston Texans!

Say hi to Marisa and Larisa, the twins from the Texans squad.

Jets Bears Preview
Nov 17, 2006 | 6:39AM | report this

Prediction: Jets 31 Chicago 9

This game has had a big red circle around it on my calendar all year.

Nobody remembers history-but that’s okay, I remember.

First of all, I’m sick of everyone saying nobody picked the Jets to win more than three games this year.  I clearly had them going to 8-8 back in July when I made my pre-season predictions.

So if you look at what I blogged in July, I am a combined 7-2 overall.  4-1 away, 3-1 home.  Not bad.  I may have a worse record during the regular season, I don’t know and I am not checking.

I looked at every game and made a game by game analysis, and it wasn’t pretty but it was the preseason so give me a break.

Here is what I wrote about this game back in July: “Jets defense will beat the Bears Offense.  Jets win.” That’s it, a short prediction that I stand by today. To that end, a blogger who goes by chitownsfinest wrote back this comment I understand you are an optimistic Jets fan, but to pick the Jets over the Bears with no explanation besides Jets Def. beats Bears Off. is simply idiotic. Our Def. will surely crush your off., which is run by an un-named quarterback and still relies on Curtis Martin. And where you see that your defense will beat the bears offense is strange to me, seeing their running game was top ten last year, and only getting better with a healthy Cedrick Benson. All I can see to you bleeding green is that when you face the bears, at least one Jet will definitely be bleeding.”

Ouch!

The Bears have been impressive this year; I mean who would have thought that they would beat teams with a combined win-loss record of 30-42.  The mighty Bears have beaten only 2 teams with winning records, Seattle and the Giants, both teams with serious player injuries.

Oh yeah, they also lost at home to the 3-6 Dolphins, and beat Arizona by 1 point.  I guess I’m just not impressed.  I know the Jets have done poorly against teams with winning records as well, and they have played a few stinkers, but momentum is on their side.  Last week they found resolve, this time it will be momentum.

So we find out this weekend, eh?  Will the Jets Defense beat the Bears offense?  Is it still an idiotic explanation after last week in New England?

We will see.

No more yapping, your Bears in My house-Sunday, 1:00.

Oh yeah, I found the Flag Girls, se hello to a Flag Girl (No names provided)

Hey Jets-let’s get some more pictures of our adorable flag girls this weekend!

Jets Patriots Preview

Prediction: Jets 24, Patriots 21

 New York JetsNew England Patriots

It is hard to believe that the last game the Jets played was in Cleveland.  That seems like a long time ago-light years.

I thought the Jets had that one in the bag and I remember their defense coming on strong in the second half.  It seemed almost as if they would win but in the end (zone) they fell short.  The Jets, losers to a team they used to own, the Patriots.

What will it take to win this game?

Resolve-that is what will get this done for the Jets, nothing shot of it will do the job today.

Go ahead and laugh, mock whatever, but I am from NJ and just saw one of the best football games I think I have ever seen last Thursday night.

What got it done for Rutgers?  Resolve.

(Plus a second half bone crushing defense.)

I look even further to last week when the meager Miami Dolphins brought down the mighty Chicago Bears.

Ha!  They caught da Bears in a pre-winter hibernation.  Resolve.  Miami wanted it more and they weren’t taking no for an answer.

A lot of teams may think they have it, but they mistake it for swagger.

The Jets must define this moment in time to change, to commit themselves to playing better football.  They must resolve themselves to winning today.

Chad Pennington must be on the money, and his decisions must be better.  Don’t overplay the game Chad; just get back to where you were when you were at the beginning of the season when you were shredding defenses with your accuracy and you play-action ability-your undeniable strengths.

The defense must stop the run and come out of the gates ready to play.  The Patriots cannot be allowed to score in the first quarter.

Tom Brady is a sick man and he must be stopped before he spreads his lunacy around the field.  He gets off those short quick passes because he is afraid to take a hit once in a while.  Well, Chad isn’t afraid.  He takes ‘em hard for the team.  He ain’t no pretty boy either.

Seriously, Brady did not look special last week.  Period.

Leon-will you have your breakout game today?

Ben-will you put up a 70+ yard attempt?  His punts not only travel a great deal further but they hang up in the air so high it looks almost like it is in slow motion.

Notes: The New York Jets web page is growing in the right direction, except for the fact that they took off the pictures of the flag girls.

They leave me with no other choice-folks, say hello to Briana Lee, Kristen O'Neil and Alison Preston.

The flag is dedicated to my Dad who served in Korea.

Jets-Browns Preview
Oct 29, 2006 | 8:06AM | report this

New York JetsVs.Cleveland Browns

Prediction: Jets 27, Browns

Stop the run, stop the run, and stop the run.

Get the idea?  That is what the Jets must do in order to convincingly win a game.  It is the only way that the Jets can take the next step as a team.

Better fourth quarter defense is also very important.  Too many fans are suffering heart attack like symptoms as we watch our game lead get eaten away by opposing teams.

Don’t give the Browns that chance, not at home when they are desperate for a win.

The people of Cleveland are good people, and they deserve an end to their long suffering of their beloved Browns.

The Browns, who are celebrating their 60th year this year, perplexed many of their fans by their recent moves at management.  They fired offensive coordinator Maurice Carthon and promoted Offensive line coach Jeff Davidson to do the job.

As one fan put it, “Their biggest problem on offense is the offensive line, so why fire the Offensive coordinator and promote the line coach?”

Their new coordinator was approached by the Jets last year, so why was the head coach seemingly not in favor of this change?  Could Romeo Crennel be on the way out in Cleveland?

This team could have trouble focusing after a tough week of turmoil and change.

One thing for sure, big ol’ Ted Washington (who is rumored to weigh 9,000 pounds) will be looking for ways to clog up the middle, so the Jets better have a plan to help out our new center.  Running to the sides might be a good idea.

The Jets brought in some fresh faces of their own last week, our new flag carriers.

Prettier faces you will find nowhere else in football.

Jets Vs. Lions Preview

New York Jetsvs.Detroit Lions

Prediction: Jets 28, Lions 9

This is a must win for my beloved New York Jets.

Last week I stated that if the Jets beat Miami, they would be on their way to an 8-8 season-or better.

The Jets beat Miami and now find themselves in their second of three winnable games that started with Miami, through Detroit and ends in Cleveland.

Detroit is not that good of a team, and the Jets better start playing early.  The worst thing that you can do is let a bad team back in a game.

Can the Jets pass rushing crew get to the Lions quarterback?

After being rather creative over the past few weeks the offence seemed un-imaginative against Miami.

Chad seemed to be too apprehensive in throwing the ball, like he doesn’t trust his receivers enough to fight for the ball.

Ben Graham had one of the best punts I have ever seen last week, and I am guessing it won’t be his last.  He is one of the toughest punters you will ever meet.

The real story this week is how much I will miss Curtis Martin.  My thoughts are with him and if the Jets are smart they will get him involved with the organization.

I will be there, with you on that day-with my hulk hands on induction day in Canton when you get there #28.

‘Nuff said about that.

The Lions have gotten to us at times and now it is time for payback, so go get them Jets.

Notes:  ESPN has the best football broadcast.  They have eliminated 100% of the unnecessary graphics and stuck with the bare essentials.  The fans thank you for that.

The Jets and Lions have cheerleaders, although I noticed that the Jets last week used flag women instead of the flag men.  Interesting, maybe there is still some hope.

Why don’t we ask Becca from the Cowboys?

P.S.-She has good taste in men-she like’s veterans!Support our troops!

Jets-Miami Preview

New York JetsVs Miami Dolphins

Prediction: Jets 24 Miami 14

This game will be a true test of where the Jets are headed this year.  Miami is always a tough competitive game (twice a year) and the Dolphins are desperate for a win.

Do they want this game more than the Jets?

The Jaguars wanted it more last week.  A lot more.

If the Jets win today they will be at least 8-8 at the end of this season.  If they loose, anything goes.

What would be the best case scenario?

It would be for the Jets to win one-this one-as a team.  A complete victory.

They should set their sites on playing a perfect game because against this team that could be considered an achievable goal.

Consider that with just two players-Tui Alailefaleula (350) and Sione Pouha (325) almost 700 pounds of Defensive Tackle for the Jets is on injured reserve, we do have run stopping help on the way.  But when?

This is the first time the Jets and Dolphins meet this year.  Each year they meet twice and you never know what kind o####ame you will be getting.  The Jets came from behind to win the greatest Monday Night Football game ever played, Miami killed the Jets with “the fake spike”, they each have kept the other out of the playoffs at various times.

When the two meet, it is a battle of wills and the standings don’t seem to matter.

Notes: The Dolphins have a cheerleader section, but it is slow and difficult to navigate.

The Dolphins site is very cluttered.  Less is more.  I like a lot of what they have on their site, but it is way too cluttered.

The Jets don’t have cheerleaders.

They don’t have a really dumb mascot either.
