There is no question right now that LSU quarterback JaMarcus Russell and Georgia Tech receiver Calvin Johnson figure to be the first players taken in next month's NFL draft.
Russell has shed at least 12 pounds from his NFL Combine weight of 265 pounds while Johnson has been the most physically impressive athlete both in Indianapolis and at his individual workout a week ago.
Johnson is no mystery to the scouts, either. Many had him pegged before the 2006 season started as one of the nation's best players. He produced on the field during the season and since then has developed no warts on his resume. If anything, Johnson has looked so good that some team may be willing to trade with the Detroit Lions for the opportunity to select him with the second overall pick in the draft.
"If he had a quarterback, Al Davis would be picking Johnson," said one AFC general manager. "This kid will be a Pro Bowl player in a year or two. He's that good."
The trouble with the Raiders is that they need a franchise quarterback and Russell appears to be their selection. It doesn't make sense for the Raiders to deal the first overall pick when their needs are so great at that position. Yes, they could trade and possibly end up with Notre Dame's Brady Quinn later in the first round, but it doesn't make sense right now. Plus, it's too early for teams to show their cards on what they might be willing to trade to move to the top spot.
Recent speculation has Cleveland talking to the Raiders because Browns GM Phil Savage has known Russell since the kid was in junior high. Russell always attended Savage's football camps in Mobile, Ala. And there is no question that the Browns, like the Raiders, need a franchise quarterback.
In three of his five previous NFL drafts, Lions GM Matt Millen has selected receivers in the first round. Roy Williams blossomed into a very good player last season while Charles Rogers is out of the league and Mike Williams, who starred for USC, has the speed of a slow tight end. There is no doubt that Johnson is a more complete prospect than Roy Williams was coming of Texas, but does Millen dare select his fourth receiver in six drafts?
Well, Millen should. Johnson is that good.
But Mike Martz's offense doesn't need another great receiver as much as it might need an offensive tackle (Wisconsin's Joe Thomas) or a running back like Oklahoma's Adrian Peterson.
The dilemma for Millen is that neither Thomas nor Peterson is truly worthy of the second overall pick and that's why Detroit will look to slide down a few spots and collect an extra pick or another player and still end up with someone like Thomas. Peterson also has the chance to be very good.
Edwards moving up?
Although Stanford wasn't very good, quarterback Trent Edwards probably will be a first-day draft selection for some team. If the Cleveland Browns don't get Russell or Quinn, Edwards could be their third-round selection if he's still available. The Browns like his toughness and his football IQ, plus Edwards is a shade over 6-foot-3 and weighs 224.
One reason why the Browns could jump on Johnson is that tight end Kellen Winslow Jr. may not be available next season following a micro-fracture procedure on his injured knee. When he entered the NFL, Winslow had all the makings of a potential superstar, but his injuries, one caused by a stupid motorcycle accident, have put his entire career in jeopardy.
Instant replay
It makes a lot of sense for the NFL's Competition Committee to recommend a vote to make instant replay permanent at next week's owner's meetings in Scottsdale, Ariz. The league needs to take advantage of the improved angles and clarity of HD telecasts and make them available to the replay official in the booth.
To purchase the proper equipment, the NFL would have to spend millions more than it already does, but it makes sense to have the same high-definition pictures as every fan sitting at home with a beautiful flat-screen television.
Tomlin talks tough
Every new head coach likes to make a good first impression on his players and Pittsburgh's Mike Tomlin apparently in no exception. Tomlin, who has never been a head coach on any level, was a little unhappy that not all of the Steelers, primarily outspoken Pro Bowl guard Alan Faneca, showed up for off-season workouts.
Tomlin, who turned 35 just last week, should have learned a little from watching Brad Childress during his first year as a head coach in Minnesota. Childress wasn't the friendly offensive coordinator that he was in Philadelphia for so many years, and his rules with players and reporters ended up being a drag on the franchise.
Yes, we heard that Tomlin could have a bite to him, that he could be tough when he had to be. But the biggest mistake young head coaches make is not being themselves. Too many assume the persona of a head coach they always respected and somewhere along the line it backfires either with the players or those in the organization.
OK, maybe Tomlin can't be Mr. Niceguy like he was as an assistant in Tampa Bay. But he needs to be true to himself and rely on the instincts that got him the Pittsburgh job in the first place. Tomlin is known a fine teacher as a coach and mentally sharp with his defensive strategies.
New coaches are best served by growing into the position. You want players to respect you, but you also want them to listen and play hard for you when it counts. Players can spot a phony two feet away.
The Raiders should trade the number one pick to Tampa Bay who desperately want Calvin Johnson. The Raiders then get a 3rd and 6th round draft pick and draft Brady Quinn at number 4.
Mike Tomlin needs to listen and learn the Pittsburgh mentality. Pittsburgh is a hard nosed, smash-mouth football town. Tomlin should let Alan Fanica alone and concentrate on the upcoming draft. Pro-Bowl lineman don't need to prove anything.
The problem with JaMarcus Russell is, he's not NFL ready. His worst attribute according to the ESPN Draft Guide is his decision making. He is a much better fit for the Detroit Lions as an eventual replacement for Jon Kitna. The Raiders need a veteran QB to compete for a playoff spot this year, as there is no QB in this year's draft who is close to being NFL ready, the closest being BYU's John Beck. What the Raiders should be looking at is acquiring Jake Plummer's rights from Tampa Bay even if they have to give up the #1 pick overall. Either that or try to make do with soon to be released David Carr, who is better suited for the Raiders to play next year than JaMarcus Russell is. As far as Brady Quinn goes, he has many of the same problems that Rex Grossman does. He gets jittery in the pocket, and tries to do too much. Sometimes he looks great, sometimes he looks terrible. He should hope and pray that he drops to the #13 spot in the draft where he would be chosen by the team that best fits him, the St. Louis Rams. Either that, or the Rams should try to trade up to get him. Playing behind Marc Bulger for a couple of years, and learning from Gus Frerotte would be the best thing that cold happen to Brady Quinn's career

Whoever said that Peterson is not worthy of that high of a draft pick is a ####. In a few years, as long as he is not picked by Buffalo, they will be mentioning him along with the other great backs in the NFL. Brady Quinn and Russell are marginal at best. They will end up being the next Aaron Rogers and Daunte Culpepper.
This draft is not like unlike any other. Thats about how it is when u start pridiciting who is going to do what. So many times its not the best player who turns into something great and makes me look smart. Its the best situation for the right player bottom line. yes there will be some players that show out on pure talent but i doubt u will be able to figure out who it is. I can predict this about Arian he will get hurt ALOT!!!
varian22pp shut the #### up. dont listen to the espnguide book thingy . didnt they say matt lienart, vince young, and jay cutler werent first round material and look at them now.
I's me , the die hard Niner fan. The lions do not need another receiver. They need help on the line and a running back and especially a good QB. I still have faith that USC Williams can turn it around, and you still have Roy Williams at WR. QB, well I could throw the ball as good as their guy. We (the Niners) will trade you our 11th pick and O lineman for the #2, and we will take Johnson, because he fills our need, and that would fill the Lions needs as well. It does not do you any good to have 3 good receivers who never get the ball because the QB can't throw or the QB is getting sacked.
The Raiders should really trade Moss to the Packers for Aaron Rogers. Then draft Calvin Johnson. However Al Davis is running the Raiders and he loves big strong armed QB's like Jamarcus Russell. He has bust written all over him to me. But these are the Raiders of 2007 still trying to go deep like they did in the 60's
Matt, nice words and true they are. It is the same for the Raiders (my team) ... they need an inexperienced QB like they need a hole in the head.... what good wil JaMarcus Russell or Brady Quinn or even for that matter Andrew Wolter do if they spend half the game running for their lives and the other half staring at the sky?? Hey Al ... trade down and get yourself some good O-line people then talk about getting a franchise QB
We (Detroit) wil trade you (Oakland or SF) Josh McCown and one o our 6 running backs for a Gaurd lighter then 360 and a slew of underweight speedy defencemen.
I bet we trade down twice and get one decent player on the first day and two on the second. (3 out of 10 is awesome for Millen)
I like Russell because I am an LSU fan, but he is not ready for the NFL. Perhaps no amount of preparation gets a college player for the NFL.
-The Raiders should go with Russell because he is a top 5 quarterback in this draft and he fits with the Raiders schemes.
-Detroit does not need a quarterback, if Kitna was not getting sacked as soon as the ball was snapped he would have at least been a top 10 quarterback. He threw for over 4000 yards that is not an accident. And interceptions are the sign of two things bad decision making or a bad line, in the case of Kitna the latter applies. Detroit should going with the tackle, and they should switch places with tampa but no lower because the Cardinal really need a line more than defense.
-The Browns could go with Quinn or Kolb and use Lewis as their primary back until next season and hope to draft a back next year. The problem is there arent any backs like Peterson coming out next year, at least for now.
-Johnson will go to Tampa.
-I dont care who the redskins pickup they are one of the dumbest team in football. All they had to do was pull Brunell and they would have at least made the wildcard. This season they dont have a lot of holes to fill, maybe a quarterback I like quinn for the redskins but he may not last this long. I was not sold on Campbell though he was an upgrade from the The 50-step-drop-back quarterback Brunell.
-I dont care what the Vikings do they seem to do well despite a paucity of big names. But they can go LB or DE. Carriker from Nebraska was the best LB and would be a good fit for them.
-The Texans sh

If the Raiders were smart that draft Calvin Johnson with the 1st pick and draft a QB in the 2nd or 3rd round. Also make a trade for David Carr. If the Raiders did that thne they would have one of the best offensives in the NFL
the raiders right now are in dire need of a qb. thats why they won't trade out of the #1 pick so they can just draft Jamarcus Russel. They already have solid receivers in Ronald Curry and Jerry Porter. Even if Porter didn't play last year he will this year and all you have to do is look back at the seasons when he has played and you will see that he can be a productive receiver.
If nothing else, J Russell will bring a fire back to the QB position. He'll do what it takes to WIN. Sometimes it might not be pretty but he'll get it done. Similar to V Young, he will seize his opportunity to show his team that he can lead them . To all the haters and doubter, it will be to late to jump on the wagon after the raiders have won 9 games this season with JR as QB.
Replying to comment that Russell will just be another Cullpepper. Cullpepper was All Pro before his knee injury. So what are you saying about Russell? That he will be selected to All Pro team and then get injured and never have a Hall of Fame career? I guess I would predict that for all the 1st round picks this year. Most will not have a Hall of Fame career. Some will get injured and some will disappoint. Bet my forecast is 100% Korrect. :)
Eric, my friend, we (the 49ers) have a top 3 running back in the NFL (Frank Gore), so we won't need your Kevin Jones or whomever you think someone will bite on. Detroit needs a LEFT tackle and a nasty guard. PERIOD! J Kittna played college right here in my county, and he can win games. I've seen it first hand, he is a winner. Not the best arm, not the most accurate passer, not the best red zone QB, but a great blend of all three. If they (lions- notice the lower case) were smart they would trade down to us (Niners), an up and comming team, fill some of their holes-either offense (big holes) or on defense (super big holes), and really try to compete in the worst division in the NFL (FOR GOD SAKE, THE BEARS WON THE DIVISION-EVEN WITH REX GROSS-man)!!! Give Kitna some help on the O-Line and he will win you games. Keep in mind that your BEST RB is Kevin Johnson, so no GM will trade for the 1st string RB (Johnson), so I guess that guy is the lions (notice the lower case) best RB is about an 8th round fantacy pick at best, would be trade-bate to the Grandview Greyhounds (high school). Millen is an awful GM, who happens to be head of the lions draft, so he will probably pick a tight end for the 2nd pick in the draft. Good luck lions fans.
Raul21, you are the one that doesn't know what you are talking about. All 3 draft guides that I bought last year (ESPN, Sporting News, and Pro Football Weekly) had all 3 of the QB's you mentioned as players likely to go in the top half of the draft and Young and Leinart were projected as top 5 picks I'm sorry naivax, but JaMarcus Russell is not Vince Young. The Dante Culpepper comparisons are pretty accurate.

I stand by my statement that none of the QB's in this year's draft are ready to start right away, and none of them will lead a team to the playoffs. If Al Davis wants to contend immediately, as I think he does (he's 77 I think), he will need a veteran QB. Of the QB's available, Plummer has the best won-loss record, and Carr has the best QB rating. As far as Kitna goes, yes he had a great season all things considered last year but he will turn 35 during the first month of the season. It would be an excellent idea for Detroit to draft a QB to groom as Kitna's successor. Either Brady Quinn or JaMarcus Russell should work. Quinn has more experience and saavy, but Russell has more upside.

Matt, get real. The niners have one thing, Frank Gore. As for up and coming, when was the last time they made the playoffs? The Lions offensive line problems came from injuries and quality of the depth at the positions. At the end of the season last year they were hiring guys off the street to start at RG. I think the Lions should indeed trade their #2 pick because everyone but the Lions would take Calvin Johnson with the #2. They should trade down a few picks maybe with Tampa at #4, grab an extra pick or player. Joe Thomas is a great pick but the Lions already have Jeff Backus at LT and got George Foster at RT in the trade for Dre Bly. Plus Thomas would still be there at #4. It's anyones guess what Millen will do.
"Playing behind Marc Bulger for a couple of years, and learning from Gus Frerotte would be the best thing that cold happen to Brady Quinn's career"- That was taken right from a post on this board. Why the F-CK would anyone want Gus Frerotte to groom anybody?!?!?!?!? And all of you jackasses that make statements like "we the niners", shut your hole! If you have something intelligent to say, then say it. But pretending you are playing Madden and offering up trades is assinine. And who cares what schmuck Millen drafts this year, that player will end up a bust, that dude is cursed or something. I also dont really agree that the Culpepper comparison is accurate. I dont understand? Culpepper was one of the NFL's top 5 QB's, now he is one of the unlucky injury casualties of the NFL, what does his lack of production have to do with skill, it is all because of his knee injury. So saying Russell will suck as much as Daunte isnt close to accurate. A healthy Culpepper would still be a top level QB.
last time i checked the steelers have been a pretty good team only missed the playoffs 3 times in the last 15 years last time i checked thats not to bad know tomlin wants to come in and change things if it is not broken don't fix it
Being a bolts fan, they should trade up to get Johnson, flop 1st rounders and throw in Micheal Turner( he's a bonafide starter but can't because of Tomlinson)!
Can you imagine what they would be like with that young group of players? Rivers, Tomlinson, Johnson, Parker.......sheesh, they were really just a few catches away last year! sigh........
Jamarcus Russell, to be blunt, is the most overrated player to come into the NFL draft since Ryan Leaf. Yeah, I said it...Ryan Leaf! NOBODY considered him to be a top overall pick before LSU beat Notre Dame in their bowl game. He wasn't on anyone's hot list. And then suddenly - BOOM - LSU destroys Notre Dame and it's all because of Russell?! The Irish had no speed at all in their secondary last year. They got shredded time and time again throughout the course of the entire season. It's all hype, and the Raiders are going to pay for it when they draft him.
has anyone here actually watched russell play or watch the system he was in this kid is 6-6 245 pounds with possibly the strongest arm in nfl history and not to mention he's pretty accurate. if he had played at notre dame he would be hailed as the next elway... facts are guys he engineered comeback wins had the highest passer rating all of this while in a system that didnt feature the passs had the hard headed les myles spread the field an thrown the ball he would have set all kinds of records...an to the person who said he would be the next culpepper he would be so lucky to be an all pro year in an year out just dont get the knee injury.....based on potential upside he would be one of the best draft prospects in the last 10 yrs what throw cant he make he has the size to stand tall in the pocket the strength to throw the ball 40 yards on a rope with guys hanging on him....did u guys not here the espn analyst say he has not seen a more impressive pro day in 10yrs of him covering the draft...yeah he has made a questionable pass hear and there but who doesnt....the nfl praises brett farve 4 being reckless.....if u guys dont see the talent in russell u dont know football and the choice between he an quinn should not even be close he's ahead bye a furlong
lividsquid316
I wont disagree with you on Russell being overrated but what about eli manning, harrington, and cedric benson. i want to say carr but its his team that stinks.
AH! and the king of overrated players Mick Vick!
Tomlin, needs to be careful. He doesn't want to run off Faneca next year, Palamalu could be leaving also. It can't help a coach that will be going into his second year to lose 2 pro bowlers. Also, Faneca needs to stop crying about the coach selections, the Rooney's are the best in the business at it. Sounds like a weak excuse for "I want a couple more weeks of vacation."
Umm Mike Vick isnt bad its kinda stupid that people talk bad about him, he is one of the most athletic QBs in NFL history if anyone is overrated its Matt Schaub

To all those people who talk about Daunte Culpepper as if he is a bad player, SHUT UP. He would have been able to make it to the hall of fame had it not been for his injury. So saying that Russel compares to him is actually a compliment. Russel is a beast and has one of the most powerful arms in NFL history, in college he was a beast but he was underrated because everyone payed to much attention to Troy Smith (not going to make it in the pros) and Brady Quinn (decent but not as good as Russel)
Good lord Raul, do you actually follow football. You must be watching futbol and getting a little confused. Matt Leinart with an O-line and that reciever core is gonna be great. Jay Cutler with a better reciever core will be a stud, because the running game will always be there. Vince Young, well, did you see the last half of the 06 season? These guys are 2nd year QBs and you think they're busts already? Damn dude, are you still mad that your Uncle Bens rice can't get done in under a minute too?
PS - Daunte Culpepper is extremely overrated. Without Randy Moss to jump up to catch his floaters guess what happens? They float 2 feet over his recievers head. Though, that only happens if he doesn't fumble the snap. The only roll he'll be getting on is the ace bandage. Stick a fork in him. He's done.

bama06 r u serious u think its funny about russells arm strength what does arm have to do with him throwing a pass in the nfl if u have arm strength u simply have arm strength thats the craziest comment i have read today....believe me he has more than any1 in the league bye far this kid can flick the ball 40 yards on a rope with his wrist he doesnt have to use his entire right side like say farve does i have been to his games ive seen the warm up drills the 50 yard threw the goal posts from his knees the 80 yard bombs with ease he can throw the out the seam and the deep ball with velocity unlike any1 i have seen since elway his passes also have touch
luke1420 did u forget the last healthy season he had he threw over 30 touchdowns with no moss because moss was injured almost the entire season oh how soon we 4get
Consistency is what my Raider Nation needs. We have had 3 coaches in the past 4yrs. Who can win like that? No team can win like that. You have young players constantly learning new schemes and different blocking techniques every other year, how can they be any good? With that we get a QB now and build a line around him through the draft and free agency. I dont mind losing, but we will continue losing if we keep firing and hiring a NEW COACH every year one isnt successful. I want a Marino, Kelly, Montana, Staubach, Brady, or a P. Manning....By that I mean a QB who is goin to be a RAIDER for his entire career and have the same coach as well. Those QBs were successful cause they had CONSISTENCY with working under the same coach and offensive scheme for years. CONSISTENCY is what the RAIDERS need no matter who they draft. Raider Nation 4 Life
JaMarcus Russell and Brady Quinn as No.1 draft picks is comical to me. Russell has never shown himself to be a leader and Quinn never showed up against teams with equal ability and athletes. Russell led an LSU team with more talent than even USC and couldn't even accomplish winning their division in the SEC. Quinn is the product o####reat system against inferior college competition. Calvin Johnson is a great receiver, no question, but great receivers do not equal championships nor wins, just ask Arizona. If Peterson is healthy and from what I have heard he is, he is far and away the best pick of the draft. He can move a team over the hump to championship level but even he will need to go to a team with a quarterback who is a proven leader. If Oakland was smart, they'd pick up Peterson now, waste a year and continue to lose (but don't let Peterson get hurt) and pick up the kid from Louisville next year who is a leader. But, since I do not and never have liked Oakland, I am happy to hear they are selecting Russell whose fame five years from now will be limited to a trivia question.
thomasa u r comical u r correct about brady but the whole russell hasnt shown leadership he had at least 6 big comeback wins in his career at lsu the only thing and i repeat the only thing that stopped him from dropping ridiculos numbers on the sec which is bye the way the toughest conference in college football.. was that he was in a sysytem that was run based this kid was held down if u watched the auburn game this season if myles had of thrown the ball theyd have went up an down the field as they did when they did throw the ball a couple bad calls at auburn and they basically handed florida that game.......they really didnt have much luck in the big games....yeah they had the talent an have even more now but one thing is for sure he didnt have the coaching usc has....and u say they couldnt win there conference buddy the sec isnt the pac10 or big 12
gely33, I have family in Louisiana, Alabama and Georgia and two family members attending LSU, I am completely aware of what Russell has done and totally aware of the SEC. Texas won a national title with one of the best leaders to come out of college football in years in Vince Young, the difference between Young and Russell is with Young Texas got better and better and achieved more and more. With Russell, it was just more of the same. As for six comebacks, that is more of an embarrassment than an achievement as the level of talent wasn't close! But, time will tell. You want to push too much responsibility off on others, something which Russell does too! In my opinion, Russell will be out of the NFL in five years and Quinn will at best be a solid back up. Only time will tell! As for Peterson, he ran behind a pedestrian offensive line at best and was a target every time he got the ball and he still produced!
People who think Daunte Culpepper sucks, are RETARDED. Daunte still has his arm, and his leadership capability. I dont like the comparison between jamarcus and daunte, the only thing similar that they have is their strong arm and their size. They are two completely different quarterbacks.
i think jamarcus is never going to live up to expectations. sometime in april before the draft, he is going to commit a crime. as a result he will slip to the dolphins at number 9 overall, due to character issues. jamarcus will then get suspended for the season because Cam Cameron, the dolphins head coach, will one day call him daunte, since them #### look alike. jamarcus will then eat cam cameron, and get suspended for the year. during his suspension he will eat and eat until he is 9 feet tall, and well over 850 pounds. the next season he will make 16 starts, throw for about 200 yards, and run for about 4,000.
for his career he will run 20 times as much as emmitt, barry, walter, and ladanian will. he will pass for about 2,000 yards total. at the end of his career he will be the size of king kong, eating three mcdonalds franchises a day.
Daunte Culpepper is by far the worst QB in the NFL. Cleo Lemon showed he was much better than Culpepper. He's nothing without Randy Moss....The majority of real Dolphin fans thought that Daunte was the worst move they could have made last year.....but maybe you're right......he's amazing.....how many games did he win?.....For all those Falcon fans out there......would you take Culpepper or Vick?
Ok first off Daunte was an extremely good quarterback before the injury. In 2005 he was booming throwing for 4700+ yard 39 touchdowns and only 11 interceptions. Who ever thinks he sucks needs to look over his stats again.
As far as the draft goes, this should be a no brainer for the Raider, they need to take JR. Dude can throw the bomb all day long and not get sore. In addition his body will be big enough to take the some 50 sacks he will have this year. The 2nd pick is the interesting one. Detroit would rather suck on a urinal puck then draft another WR, but Clavin is top of the line. For them to pass up on this guy would be mind numbing. You have a Quarterback in Kitna that will be fine for the year. The question about the line can also be solved by drafting CJ (If that makes sense). If you have this guy as your first option, you dont have to worry about placement of the pass when you are pressured. We have all seen what "The Truth" can do. But lets say they pick that Wisconsin Tackle, that leaves the Browns open for their shot. The browns already have Jamal Lewis for a year and that should be good enough. There next look would be at the Quarterback position with Frye, who hasnt proved himself just yet. I say they dont draft Quinn like many have been talking about and go for Calvin. Put him on the other side of Braylon Edwards and Fryes' numbers will jump.
To whom ever thinks picking up AD at the top 3 spots needs to look at next years draft. The possible top 3 picks very well could be: Darren McFadden, Steve Slaton, Ray Rice. Others could include P.J. Hill and Hart
All this talk about Jamarcus, Jamarcus, Jamarcus.
he's going to be that flop quarterback that everyone talked so much about and how great he would be. Quinn is by far a better long term option that seems to me to be much smarter than Russell. so i say go ahead and draft JaMarcus Oakland and leave Quinn for a team that wants to be good.
all the talk about quinn being in the league longer....i hate to make this sound racist s=cuz i am far from it .....but id like to think how all this would be if quinn played at lsu and were african american an if russell wore that gold helmet an were white.....think about what i just said

This has to be the most rediculous comment or thought I have seen. I hope no one will "think about" this, because it is absolutely racist and it's no different then the comments made by Limbaugh about McNabb on ESPN. Absolutely Rediculous!
Not really sure which Lions team you all have been watching, but they will be fine on offense this year. Both O and D lines will be improved as long as they stay healthy and drafting any offensive player in the first two rounds would be a huge mistake. We need a "shut-down" corner and a solid, run stopping ILB. Hey Matt, if you're listening here's a plan; trade down, add another second or third round pick, take Leon Hall with your first pick, pick a stud ILB with the 33rd then work on the offense after that.
everybody needs to stop getting on culpepper. In 2004 they gave p.manning the mvp award. You can say the colts were 12-4 and the viking were 8-8 but stat for stat it was even. Not really culpepper had a better pass %,more passing yards, way more rushing yards (lets see manning pass and rush for a lot of yards),a longer touchdown pass thrown. He was the league leader in pass completions and passing yards.hows that for a has been. I didn't know we gave mvp's adwards to players who throw only 10 touchdowns pass more then the competion. When the guy who didn't get the award lead in all the major stats and was second in the rest.
Ndame- Culpepper was good before the injury, but it was a one man race in 2004. Here are the stats, keep in mind that Culpepper had nearly 100 more passes thrown in this season. And as far as the rushing comment goes, maybe he should try out for Running Back then. (P.S. how was he injured again)
