Matt Kenseth swept the weekend at the California Speedway, winning BOTH the Busch Series race and the Cup Series race!!! A friend of mine predicted that this would happen, but I thought to myself - - - yeah right. Well, I guess it's time for me to eat crow, eh ??? Anyone have any salt, I've never eaten crow before ???
What A Qualifying Effort ! ! !
Mikey missed the Auto Club 500 by .033 seconds :-( The #55 NAPA Auto Parts TOYOTA Camry outperformed drivers Ricky Rudd, Jamie McMurray, Kenny Schrader, Kyle Petty, Elliott Sadler, David Ragan, David Gilliland, Tony Raines and Robby Gordon but due to NASCAR's top-35 rule, Waltrip was the first driver sent home out of the 51 teams trying to make the 43-car starting grid.
Ironically, it was a Michael Waltrip Racing team's car driven by David Reutimann that bumped Mikey out of the race.
Watching qualifying was difficult for the NASCARQUEEN because I was feeling Reutimann's stress level, thinking, he's wondering "What do I do here? Do I take my right foot off of the gas and slow down to where my brand new boss makes the race, or do I stick my right-foot through the floorboard and try to beat him ??? I don't know, if it were me, I don't think I would want to hear Mikey ask me, "Why didn't you go for it and hit your marks ??? Just because it was me - - - are you a racer or what?"
My next question was, will Mikey go home, now that he isn't in the race ??? But then, I remembered that this season starts a whole new scenario for Mikey, cause now he is a Car Owner and he is responsible for TWO other cars and drivers, of course he's NOT going home - - - he's got lots of work to do now that "He's the man" !!! GO MIKEY GO !!!
What Was Biffle Thinking ? ? ?
Don't get me wrong, I don't have a problem with Greg Biffle, (I have another friend who is a Biffle Fan) but can someone please tell me what he was thinking ??? Was the "tap" to Reutimann's left rear quarter panel one of them "racin' deals" or was it because he's a "Rookie" deserving some sort of initiation ??? What ??? David was at least one lap down, so what was Greg trying to prove ??? I know Greg is a better driver than that, did the California weather get to him, or what ???
Quite frankly, I am very concerned about David Reutimann' well being today. He took a HUGE hit and appeared to be stunned and/or had the wind knocked out of him. I can only hope that he is getting the best possible care from his own doctors this week. Not to mention all the damage done to the Domino's/Berger King TOYOTA Camry. The NASCARQUEEN is thinking about ya this week David !!!

Have any of you heard the news that Bill Davis Racing has expressed their disappointment in Jeremy Mayfield's performance ??? Excuse me, they want to drop the #36 team after only TWO races so far this year ??? Am I wrong or is Mayfield not also in a TOYOTA Camry ??? And is this not their "solo flight into NASCAR" ??? The last time I checked Rome STILL was NOT built in a day or even in TWO WEEKS !!! Come on, Mr. Davis, get real here.

Speaking of commercials, what's up with your current champion and his ridiculous commercial with the Nextel Cup Trophy ??? Just who does he think he is - - - Elliott Sadler could drive circles around the pilot of the #48 machine. I guess it only proves that you can CHEAT and still win the trophy - - - shame on you NASCAR - - - - for setting a precedent !!!

Great post, Queen! Especially all the handiwork with the TV commercials. And to think, people think that ticket sales are what's driving NASCAR! Wrong! Your research just proved it. One-third of the total TV time devoted to commercials. I wonder what the attendance/ tv share was?

Very good post!! I really like your opinions about stuff and stuff. I think that Greg Biffle was just trying a little to hard because it was the last part of the race. If you see the video(the video can be seen on my blog under the Reutimann story), Biffle needed to go down on the apron to avoid Reutimann as much as possible. That was a hard hit!! Thank you for the post again!!

i can tell you what elliot is doing wrong. driving a car is one. the guys a basketball player not a stock car driver. he has been overhyped since he was in the 21. he may as well be the next casey atwood or better yet, jason leffler! the guy just aint a good driver, sorry to spoil your party. if the guy cant win at least 2 races this year in that car then he may as well switch to trucks. he has the identical car that kahne has so it should be no problem. even that loser mayfield won i belive 2 races in that car! oh yeah i said it Greg Biffle will win the cup this year. hate him if you may but that guy can drive the heck out of a car. i know his history about overdriving a car but this year will be different. if i were an owner i would rather have a guy trying too hard than not hard enough. tony stewart overdrives his cars every week and they usually stay intact. maybe roush will do that for biffle this year. expect at least 4 wins from biffle this year.

I think that the way qualifiiying is run is for the birds or some other animal. Explain to me how a person can qualify, say 20th or 21st and not make a race.That 35 rule has got to go. But then without it one of the fair haired boys may not get to run some weeks.

I remember the Biffle/Reutimann incident. I really don't think Biffle meant to send David into the wall. I think Biffle was only trying to move him out of the way. Because Biffle was faster. Reutimann just wasn't able to hold onto the car. Nothing more. I am no Biffle fan, but he certainly is not a dirty driver.

Jimmie Johnson is doing all he can to get where they all want to be. He is good on the track as well as off the track. He cares for the youth as well as the elderly. He hasn't forgotten that the elderly still have plenty to give. A signed quilt patch was donated to Fahrney-Keedy Home and Village (non-profit) and was made into a one of a kind wall hanging with it's own case.
