A common theme over the past few years in college football has been the decline of the Big 10 Conference (which actually has 11 teams) among its sister conferences in the NCAA Football Bowl Series (formerly Division I-A – don’t get me started on that change).
Really? Based on what? No commentator can convincingly articulate why he claims the Big 10(11) is weaker now than in years past, but yet the comment is heard routinely on college football shows every weekend.
I will concede that right now in college football, the Southeast Conference (SEC) is the premiere conference. But no one can provide enough evidence to give me reason to not place the Big 10(11) as the SEC’s first runner-up. And any serious college fan would admit that there are only five major powerhouse conferences in college football; SEC, ACC, Big 10(11), Big 12 and Pac 10 .
The main “assumption” behind the decline of the Big 10(11) is the fact that on any given weekend in the conference, almost every school has a chance to win and the conference records are close to the .500 mark. That does not mean the conference is weak; just the opposite. It means the conference is tough and each week the teams beat each other up in pursuit of the Big 10(11) title.
Sports pundits all like to talk about the decline of the Big 10(11), but when the time comes to vote for the rankings, the Big 10(11) gets its credit.
Last year, three Big 10(11) schools finished in the top 10 of the Bowl Championship Series standings, to include National Title contender Ohio State.
Four conference schools were ranked in the Associated Press Preseason Top 25 poll (Michigan, Ohio State, Wisconsin and Penn State) with three of them still remaining in the Top 25 poll – Michigan has obviously dropped off.
The Big 10(11) leads all other conferences with 15 BCS appearances; the SEC is second with 13. They also have two of the most frequent BCS visitors; Ohio State and Michigan combine for nine appearances, while the Atlantic Coast Conference’s Florida State and University of Miami combine for 10 appearances. Seven of the conference’s 11 teams have appeared in the BCS, which is tied with the Pac 10 for most in the nation.
Year in and year out, the Big 10(11) has a pretty predictable three-tier hierarchy, just like most conferences. Michigan and Ohio State are the clear front-runners heading into each new season. The second tier; consisting of Iowa, Purdue, Penn State and Wisconsin, all generally finish near the top of the conference and routinely contend for the conference championship and appear in major, if not BCS, bowl games. While the third tier (Minnesota, Northwestern, Michigan State, Indiana and Illinois) will occasionally have a break-out year but generally finish in the bottom half of the conference. I would almost tend to put Indiana and Illinois in a fourth tier because the rarity of them competing for the conference title rivals Baylor’s chances of having a .500 season or becoming bowl eligible (with six wins).
However, other conferences are much more predictable.
Then there’s the National Football League draft. The same top five conferences in the nation in dominance and popularity are also the top draft-choice producers.
The SEC, of course, led the 2007 draft with 41 draft picks from conference schools, featuring 11 of them in the first round.
The Big 10(11) was tied for second with the ACC with 31 draft selections from their conferences and six first-round selections each.
The Big 12 followed in fourth with 28 draft selections and four first-round picks, followed by the Pac 10 with 28 selections and only one in the first round.
The Big 10(11) also gets major bonus points for being the first college athletic conference to launch its own nationwide network. The channel, available for free on major satellite subscription services and many independent cable providers in Big 10(11) areas, is not available or is a premium channel service from most major cable providers.
It produces 24 hours of sports programming covering all collegiate sports in the Big 10(11). Right now you can catch women’s volleyball, soccer as well as football on the Big Ten Network.
BTN also provides its own weekly highlight and preview shows, airs all of the conference’s coaches’ shows, and replays the week’s games throughout the week (in case you wanted to watch the Appalachian State versus Michigan game everyday).
But the best part of the BTN is that it airs every Big 10(11) home and conference game that is not covered by a major network – even those get re-aired during the week on BTN because the network still owns the rights to all Big 10(11) home and conference games – in high definition.
It even has up to four secondary channels set aside to carry as many five conference games simultaneously. So you can flip between all five channels and watch all five games at the same time, for no extra charge.
BTN is such a hit and such a marketing innovation to push the conferences’ product out to its alumni and fans spread out throughout the country, other conferences (i.e. Big 12, SEC and ACC) are making plans to create their own conference networks.
The Big 12 has already aligned with ESPN, BTN is aligned with Fox Sports, laying the ground work for the creation of its network as soon as next summer. The ACC is offering all of its collegiate sports online via live video streaming, also in a move to lay the groundwork for establishing a conference network.
There are so many good college football teams, even in the lower divisions, and conferences, which is why college football still dominates professional football in the hearts of sports fans.
But when it comes to talking about conference powerhouses, the SEC is king, but the Big 10(11) is a close second. No conference is more talented from top to bottom and the reason the records don’t look stellar is because the teams are so tough they beat each other up each week.
Why do you think other conferences like the Big 12, Pac 10 and ACC almost never schedule a Big 10(11) team on their regular season schedule?
I wouldn’t want my program embarrassed by Minnesota, Purdue or Wisconsin, either.
And why do you think teams from other major conferences (i.e. Oklahoma, Texas, Rutgers, Syracuse and independent Notre Dame) have all been considered or looked at becoming the Big 10(11)’s twelfth school? This would allow the Big 10(12) to create two divisions and hold a conference championship – establishing even more credibility in the national rankings. Now there’s a scary thought.
I'm a LSU fan and with that comes being an SEC fan. But I will say that what you say about teams beating each other up weak in and weak out is the same as the SEC. I think atleast in my opinion that next to the SEC, the Big ten(11) is probably the next best conference. The ACC should be scrapped. It's garbage to me. should only be 4 Major conf. SEC,Big 10,Big 12,Pac-10. that's it forget the rest.
Finally, an SEC fan that gives the Big Ten its dues. You may be the Best conference in CFB, but we are deffinatly right there too. GO BIG TEN!!! and most importantly... GO BUCKS!!!!! O-H
THERE MAYBE "DEPTH" SOMEWHAT IN THE BIG 10...BUT THE TALENT LEVEL OF THE TEAMS IN BOTH THE SEC AND BIG 10 IS VERY LOPSIDED.ALL BIG 10 TEAMS WHO BEAT OTHER TEAMS IS...IS MEDIOCRE BEATING EVEN MORE MEDIOCRE FOOTBALL TEAMS.IM NOT A FAN OF EITHER CONFERENCE SO I CAN SPEAK OBJECTIVELY AND I THINK EVEN THOUGH THE BIG 10 MIGHT BE 2ND...IT'S STILL A VERY DISTANT SECOND
Likewise, I'm an Ohio State fan and hereby Big Ten guy, but I have no problem with the SEC being the "best" conference. It's gotten past the point of ridiculous all the arguing and bickering over which conference is better. I'm just concerned with OSU taking care of the next game, whomever it is. By the end of the regular season, it all shakes out and most people get a feel for who are the best teams, week in and week out.
"I wouldn't want my program embarrassed by Minnesota, Purdue, or Wisconsin either"
Florida 41, Ohio State 14
USC 32, Michigan 18
Appalachian State 34, Michigan 32
Oregon 39, Michigan 7
Bowling Green 32, Minnesota 31
The Pac-10 has been making this "our records are weaker because we're so tough on each other" argument for a decade and been laughed at. I have the same response now. Tell, who outside of OSU is a Championship Contender? Michigan was horrendously overrated, as was Penn State, as was Wisconsin.. as is Iowa every year. Now Illinois loses to the Hawkeyes and you tell me "it's because we're all so good?" Garbage. Maybe you should actually watch some football and see what the Big 10 is missing (21st century speed). Get your nose out of the 1940's clouds.
SOME DONT SEE ANY BIG 10 TEAM AS A CONTENDER..NO ONE IN THAT CONFERENCE EVER PLAYS ANY TOUGH NONCONFERENCE AND THEIR LEAGUE IS SO SO AT BEST.JUST BECAUSE THERE IS PARODY IN A LEAGUE, IT DOESN'T MEAN THE LEAGUE HAS GREAT TEAMS..YOU CAN SAY THE SAME THING ABOUT THE BIG 12 AS THIS GUY IS SAYING ABOUT THE BIG 10.DOESNT MEAN THE BIG 12 (THE CONFERENCE MY ALMA MATER PLAYS IN)HAVE ANY REAL GREAT TEAMS THIS YEAR
Obviously, OSU is the only real contender from the Big Ten this year, and after last year's stinkfest in the NC game and mild nonconference schedule this year, who is gonna give 'em any credit? I don't blame anyone for thinking that!
However, OSU played a home-away series last year with Texas (it was an early 1-2 matchup) and soon will play the same with USC, so this is just a blip on the powder-puff noncon. schedule. People tend to forget the past unless it's "UF-41, OSU-14"..go figure.
Steeldeathbed lost credibility for anything when I saw "parody."
Though the unintentional use seems to be better than his intent, I can't take a blogger seriously, when he/she doesn't know what 'parity' is.
The blogger is 12.
Jesus!, Does this guy work for the Big 10 Network? The Big Ten Network is a waste of money, I have it and it's garbage. If it wasn't for the Buckeyes I'd drop it.

I get tired that OSU doesn't play a tough non-conference. This year is the only year for the next decade that will happen. (Remember Tressel coached at YSU). The next 8 years they have home-home with USC, VT, Oklahoma & Miami(Fl). Last year's NC was an aberration. Their offense is not nearly as good this year but I will put this defense up against anyone. Anyone remember 2002 & Miami?
I think it's funny that these Florida guys bash the Big Ten over one game last year yet are 3-3 against them in the last six meetings including, losses to Iowa, Michigan State, and that team Appy State beat- Michigan. So I guess that would make you .500 if you were to be in Big Ten with the logic you use.
You won last year, enjoy and get over yourself and try to exhibit a little class to the best of your abilities.

MOI Maybe you should pull your head out of somewhere else and check some combine numbers and you will know that all of these teams are carrying the same speed as any other team in college football. That speed lie is so much bull. Thats the same speed OSU wasnt suppose to have when they played Miami in 02. Where was that speed on Arkansas and Tennesee when Wisconsin and Penn State were running the ball down their throat, locking down their NFL recievers and keeping Mr Heismann McFadden in check last year in the bowl games. One bad game and everyone thinks they can judge the entire conferences existance. What a joke. Big-10 was 2-1 against the SEC last year in bowls and is 8-6 against the SEC over the last 5 years. So as usual blah, blah, blah! Another blowhard already trying to get their 1-loss team some hype for the title game. Bad news, #2 is going to go to Oklahoma.
Don't forget the Big East. They were the best in last years Bowl Games and SF did beat Auburn which may be the best in SEC. It's really hard to pick the best conference. We do know the SEC,Big 10,ACC,Big East,Pac10 and Big12 are close to being equal.
Whatever arguments you want to make about the past or the future, I don't know how anyone can argue that the Big 10 has any good teams this year other than maybe OSU. And OSU fans, it would seem, should be able to admit that they have not played any team of any significance this year. There is alot of parity in college football these days and as we have all seen, there are lots of upsets just about every Saturday, especially in the middle of the season. Perhaps Michigan is now getting its ship righted and will be a much tougher opponent for the rest of the season if they can keep Hart healthy. This week's poll will see Ohio State num ber one, with no other Big Ten teams around, unless they move Penn State into the top 25.
FYI, Penn State has been in 39 bowl games, compiling a 25-12-2 record and a .667 winning percentage - the highest of any Division I team. In the so-called major bowls (Rose, Orange, Sugar, Fiesta, & Cotton) Penn state has an even higher 14-5-1 (0.725) record! And how about these recent scores versus SEC opponents:
2006 Orange Bowl
Penn State - 26
Florida State - 23
I am not argueing that the Big-10 is better than any other conference. I am only defending the Big-10 against all of the hype that SEC folks like to spread. I dont think any conference is better than any other within the BCS. You arent better than anyone unless you have lined up across from that team and beat them. Anything other than that and it is all hype. Lets be honest, the only reason that this comes up every year is so that the 1 and even 2 loss teams can try to hype themselves into a BCS bowl or the title game. Root for your team, let the conference stuff go. Your conferences teams cant give you W's, only your team can.
To date the Buckeyes have not played a true top tier (Top 5 or 10) team no fault of our own. We have however dominated everyone we have faced.
Our top challenges are all coming in the next few weeks, should we run the table we would surely deserve the right to the number one position.
How strong is the remaining schedule?...let the BCS and human polls tally it up and we will all live with the results. Short of a playoff that's the best we have.
So much hate for the Buckeyes! Why? All they do is play solid, consistent football. Give them credit for their success and stop hating. Ohio State has lost ONE game in 2 calendar years. Remember, this was supposed to be a rebuilding year. Go Buckeyes!
If he wants to know why the Big 10 (too much football and not enough math in the conference; they have 11 teams) is weaker, look at the conference's record lately in bowl games. The Big 10 has been beaten time after time after time. I would hesitate before I called Ohio State a contender last year in the NC game, the game was only close during the National Anthem.
These big conferences should admit that they are not the only amazing teams around. THough they may be consistent, there are many teams, both from BCS and non-BCS conferences who have quality teams (BYU, Hawaii, Boise State, Southern Florida, BC to name a few) that can compete with the big boys. Don't start by talking about schedules, especially if you're a fan of Ohio State-me and my two sisters could go 5-0 against Acron, Youngston State, etc.
By the way MrPressBox, the Big 10 isn't the first conference to have it's own network. The Mountain West has had a network for about 3 years now. Just thought I'd let you know.
You are so full of yourself! The Big 11 (who are obviously counting challenged) is by far the worst conference in Division I football. None of their teams, including Ohio State, could win any other conference including the Big East or the ACC! It is a joke! The best team Ohio State will face this year before the bowl season is Washington as there is NO other team in the Big 11 as good. Last year Ohio State got worse as the year went on because of the lack of real competition in the Big 11. We can only hope Michigan (a team beaten by App State - they didn't lose or give the game away, they were beaten) beats Ohio State and prevents us from having to witness another one sided championship game brought on because of the lack of ability in the Big 11! One average team beating a bad team losing to a below average team can appear very competitive but Michigan looks competitive as long as they don't have to face Oregon or any other team with talent and speed! Ohio State appears to be the best of the bad lot but that could be wrong as Ohio State's schedule prevents them from playing any really good teams and they are not as good as they were last year! The best teams the rest of the Big 11 played are Oregon and Missouri - oh yeah, they lost to them! The Big 10 (now 11) was once a power conference and will be again but right now it is mediocre at best and that is the obvious fact which has been proven on the field! There is NO team in the Big 11 worthy of a top 10 ranking, NONE!
Jazzman, out of the 5 teams that you named only USF has played anyone. Check the schedules. Boise lost to the Washington team that OSU manhandled. BC hasnt played a top team yet.
ThomasA, I can only assume that you are part of the 1-loss crowd and starting your hate. Oh the 1 and 2 loss haters will be coming in bunches. 7 or 10 years ago when this schedule was made Washington was a good team and they will be again soon if Jake Locker can settle down and learn to throw the ball. OSU had a home and home with Texas the last 2 years and start one with USC next year and have VT, Miami and Oklahoma on tap after that. I dont want to hear anything about non-con games from anyone. OSU tries and usually gets the Big Boys on the schedule.
The funny thing about Ohio State is that tomorrow evening they will be ranked #1 in more then one poll. They might not have impressed you, but they impressed someone, or something with more power then you. Oh, one more thing, Washington is not a good team, they are far from that. I. O.!!!

Oh, I forgot - and congratulation to Ohio State on their stirring victories over Youngstown State, Akron, Kent State and a Washington team that was good back in the old days when Notre Dame played football.
In a system where we do not recognize the need to have a playoff system that involves more than two teams, I think that it behooves any team seeking consideration to schedule meaningful nonconference games. It is ironic that Ohio State supporters claim interconference supremecy while their team goes out of its way to avoid rational comparisons.
jazzman wrote: "If he wants to know why the Big 10 (too much football and not enough math in the conference; they have 11 teams) is weaker, look at the conference's record lately in bowl games. The Big 10 has been beaten time after time after time."
Are you an advocate of "new math"?
Let's look at some data.
Since the inception of the BCS, this is what the Big 10 has done:
The Big 10(11) Is by far the toughest conference from top to bottom. Illinois wins a B10 title on average once every 10 years (as all teams should in a 10 team conference) So the fact checker screwed up on the fourth level remark. Anyway, Zook will have Illinois as the dominant team soon.
He's two late goal line interceptions away from being 7-0.
KC-FSU is in the ACC not the SEC-FYI. i'm a huge Buck's fan and Big Ten fan. with this said i'm also pretty down to earth. from what i can tell, the SEC is the toughest conference. the speed and skill seems to be better that what i have seen in other conferences. the next best conference maybe a toss up. it could be the big 10 or the pac 10-going head to head i believe the big 10 has a better record this year, but it may not be the best was to justify if its actually any better. both conferences have had their downs this year. i think if there is an overrated conf. it is the big east. i work with a lot of wvu fans and they really think its the best conference in the nation because they held on to an almost flop against UG in the sugar bowl a couple of years ago. here is how i would rate the conferences:
1. SEC
2. Pac-10
3. Big-10
4. Big-12
5. Big East
6. ACC
I think the Big-10 "back-lash" has occurred mainly due to the fact that Michigan has been a perennial power-house. Recently, tOSU has stepped up as well. Wisonsin, Iowa, & Penn State have contributed as well.
Notre Dame should join the Big-10(11). Then a Big-10 champion could play with true fervor against the SEC champion, Big-12 champion, or "other."
All college programs have a chance to beat any other program any given Saturday. SEC, Pac-10, Big-12, Big-10, ACC, Big-East, WAC, MAC....
Just give it time. There WILL be National Champions from each league as time progresses....
Who's this guy trying to fool. In 2007, the Big 10 is a joke. OSU is the only quality team in the conference and they will cake walk to the national championship game where they will probably be beaten if not embarassed again by the first top tier team they play. We saw this movie last year.
this is some funny stuff.. my conferance is tougher than your conference cr@p... The Sec is legit.. the Big Ten is finally back to being a legit conf.. yes Ohio State is off to there usual good start... and yes Michigan didn't show up against App. State but let's see was favored by 25 in that game and USC was favored by 41.5 against Stanford who is coached by a former Michiagan QB... hmmm
and the Big ten is a wide open race right now.. and the true Buckeye Fans now that as well... and i didn't forget about the Big 12 , looking like some thing are changing down there as well ... so to end this don't brag how great your conference is cause i know we can all come out with something were your conference falls short... oh and i will end with Pac 10 Champion:Oregon Sec:South Carolina Big 12: Oklahoma and Big Ten: well will find out Nov. 17th .... in Ann Arbor
Seems to be a lot of passion, meanness, anger in here! Must be talking Football.
Um.... yes my Buckeyes haven't had the best schedule, except it gives us time to develop as the season wears on.
Let's see, USC loses to powerhouse Stanford. LSU loses to a good Kentucky team, giving up 43 points. Cal loses to who? Oregon State?
It looks to me like parity in College ball is definitely here this year.
Remember the legends all say that offense wins games, defense wins championships. Who has the best defense. I have no clue whether Ohio State will be #1, go undefeated, etc... However, seeing the last few weeks I have changed my mind and figure the Buckeyes balance can hang with the best of what I've seen.
Time will tell.
ok just so everyone knows this pains me to do!!!!!!!
yes the Buckeyes have played cupcakes up until now... but they are getting into the meat of there schedule.. i know alot of people are looking forward to Penn state 2 weeks in Happy Valley there.. but wait you do have a game before it against a very good Michigan State team.. saw them play last night...and if memory serves right last time the Buckeyes were #1 and playing MSU at home.. i think you loss 28-25 in that game.. i know it is being replayed on the Big10 network tuesday... and as crazy as this season has been nothing surprises me any more ...

Bottom line is this. Regardless of what anyone wants to claim. IF a Big Ten team runs the table (even against the so-called inferior conference opponents) that team WILL be in the National Championshp Game. Why? Because that is the way it works. If you don't believe me, check the record. Last team I remember running the table and missing out was Boise State. Prior to that it was Auburn. If life were fair and logical, the BCS NC game last year would have been playerd between Boise State and Ohio State. Maybe Boise State would have betten OSU instead of OU. But life is not fair, nor equitable, which renders all these claims of superiority moot.

they love football in the sec, and it shows in the current number of strong programs competing there. but the big ten has a history of strength that has pretty much continued for decades. the only real test to determine who is best would be a playoff, and i just about could guarantee that the big ten would be as strong or stronger than any conference if that ever comes about. the best programs would carry the banner, and ohio state, penn state and michigan would probably, year in and year out, be the nation's best performers.
i agree with this story.but these comments are off base. 1)i live in sec country, but im a big ten fan 2)last season before florida was selectede to NT game most agreed LSU was the best team in SEC= they lost to winsconsin 3)ohio st played the #2 team 3 times last year and lost 1 of them=no team in 1a has ever played #2 3 times before in the same season 4)yes N Western has beaten ohio st before which is just what happened to LSU they just got wooped by kentucky yes wooped with the big stuff on 4th @ 2 5)michigans lengendary coach {boe} never won a rose bowl and never won a n title 6)for u sec fans that rave about championships u better luv alabama because they r your savour take them away and you dont have many compared to the other 3 big conferences,no conference is the best, it changes from year to year but it is allways one of the big 4 sec,B10,B12,pac10.its a fact and no matter what u say its not going to change
If your conferences are so dominate, tell your league to schedule a "cupcake "team from the Big Ten. Every team in every conference should play their OOC games with teams from other conferences. Not the Mac, Wac, SunBelt, or any of these other panzy conferences, but with the Big 10, Pac 10, SEC, Big 12, ACC, and Big East. The first game of the season should be against one of the weaker Divisons(ie, Sunbelt, Mac, Wac, and so on...)After that, you have to play someone from each of the power conferences for your OOC games. THAT would make for some good CFB. But, until that happens and we can see each conference play eachother year in and year out, we will never know which is better. So stop all the talk about "My conference is better(whining)" and just watch your favorite team. When they loose, don't be so quick to bash other conferences so your team looks better. They lost we didn't. GO BIG TEN, and most importantly....GO BUCKS!!!! O-H

I want a playoff system just to show the other confrences that the SEC is the most dominant conference out there. Auburn would have won the year they were shafted, just like LSU would have won the next year when they were shafted (yes, even with the "co"-national championship, they were still shafted). And muffler dragon, Big Ten was 2-7 in the bowl games last year?? The SEC went 6-3, including the NC. We don't have just one team every year that sticks out... Every year, we have several teams that stick out like Kentucky and South Carolina who haven't been very good in recent years, but are coming around. But the thing is, our powerhouses like Auburn, LSU, Florida, and Georgia are still competitive nationally. We are the most dominant conference.
Is this some kind of joke??.. I don't know about "who's the best Conference" it's so hard to tell, certain teams matchup better with others, regardless of conference affiliation.. BUT I will say this, any #### can look up 100 years of Rose Bowl games to see the Big-10 champion historically comes on vacation to Pasadena to get WORKED and SENT by the PAC-10 champion.. SO, to say the Big-10 is superior to the PAC-10, AND if you look at the conferences listed above, the Big-10 finished DEAD last in bowl wins last year at 2-5, so recent history, past history all FACTUALLY show this blog to be completely void of any factual evidence. But since when has anyone in the media relied on history and fact before they wrote or said anything?
Back to the cooler for you to take another sip of the Woody Hayes and Berry Alverez Kool-Aid....

I agree with you RunninSuns. The Pac 10 is by far a superior conference to the Big 10. With USC, UCLA, Cal, and now Oregon that is no cakewalk conference. Arizona and Stanford are jokes, but they can be bubble busters from time to time like they are this year.
The whole debate about who is the tougher conference is silly. The way the system is set up, those who win, and remain undefeated are rewarded at the end of the year. Those who lose, one or more games, can only hope those who are winning will eventually lose. Last year, OSU won them all in the regular season. This year, so far, OSU, along with BC, South Florida, and Kansas, have won them all. Until there is a playoff system, the only thing that matters is winning them all. If OSU, or any other undefeated team for that matter, shouldn't be in the BCS championship game, blame the system, and fight to change it. Until then, going undefeated will continue to be the standard.
If that was true, then Boise State would have played the title game since its inception. If you don't play anybody, then you don't deserve the top spot, especially at this point in the season. Its not like we are talking preseason here.
Then fade2bellz, fault the system, and fight to change it. Any team from the so called "Big' conferences are going to be rewarded for running the table. If you come from the Pac 10, SEC, Big Ten, Big 12 or ACC, and Big East, and you win them all, you are probably going to be in a BCS game. And remember, it's the writers and coaches who ultimately decide if teams are deserving of their ranking or not. Direct your disatisfaction towards them and encourage them to fight for a more equitable system. Apparently both writers and coaches feel there is omething to OSU, BC, and USF other than just last team standing.
Are you freaking kidding me!!!! The Big 10 (or little 11 as like to refer to it) is over rated as usual. I will take my chances with the Big 12 winner matching up with the little 11 winner every year for the national championship. Give me a break!!!
