The Falcons new Lawyer, Ramsey's new home. and Terrell Owens among others
Mar 18, 2006 | 9:57AM | report this

Another crazy day has passed in the chaos known as NFL free agency.

Lawyer Milloy

Still one of the best strong safety's in the NFL, Milloy after spending 3 years as a Bill, is now a Falcon.  The Falcons secondary really looks like it could be something good.  DeAngelo Hall is a future star at cornerback with his cheetah-like speed.  Ronnie Heard is an up-and-coming free safety as well and they just signed Chris Crocker..  Add the other defenders like Hartwell, Kerney, and Brooking, and the Falcons could have one of the leagues best defenses next year.  All they need is a QB who can throw and some recievers who can catch, and they will be set.

Patrick Ramsey

While this off-season the Redskins have done nothing but buy-buy-buy, with Ramsey they have decieded to sell-sell-sell.   And the buyer of Ramsey is the New York Jets.  The Redskins I'm not sure know what to do with the QB position.  They may let Brunell play another year, but what about Jason Campbell whom they drafted in 2005?   And the Jets have made the draft even more interesting.  Many people were saying that these guys were going after Leinart, but after getting Ramsey, would they really need another QB?  Even if Pennington isn't any good anymore, Ramsey would be better then Leinart in Leinart's rookie year.  The Draft is heating up.

Michael Bennett

The speedy, yet fragile Vikings back has a new home in New Orleans.  This could be a great decision for the Saints, as long as him and McAllister stay healthy.  If healthy, you would have a great power back (Deuce) and a great finesse back (Bennett)  The Saints obviously are serious about becoming contenders, with Drew Brees added to the list.  I just wonder who will they draft?

Gus Frerotte

I remember when this guy was going to be a great QB, then he hurt him self in Washington, and since he has been a traveling guy being a Dolphin last year.  Now he is a Ram, and knowing how likely Bulger is to get injured (very) this could be a good move for Gus.  But iit is too late in his career for him to ever really amount to anything.

Terrell Owens

Well the reports are saying that he is in Dallas.  As I've said before, that will not work at all.  One, Bledsoe is old, and slow, and TO complains about every QB he has.  Two, Bledsoe likes passing to Terry Glenn, and Owens hates not getting the ball.  Three, Bill Parcells is a no-nonsense type of coach, and he won't put up with TO's ####.   If they are lucky, he could give them one good year.

Well thats all I got, and I have to say this one more time.  With the George Washington vs Duke game in 5 minutes, I've called the upset.  GW WILL BEAT DUKE!!

Northwestern State. Where the heck is that???
Mar 17, 2006 | 3:12PM | report this

If you didn't catch the end of the Iowa/Northwestern St. Game, then you missed a great ending.  NW State, a 13 seed making a crazy fade-away three right at the buzzer.  That ending was pure excitement, and that is what this tournament is all about.  Yeah, they will probably lose to West Virginia next round, but they made their mark. (and cost me 2 pts on my bracket.

Also I have said before, the upset of the year is coming.  GEORGE WASHINGTON WILL BEAT DUKE.  This will happen, I've forseen the future.  Also my Final 4 picks, Texas, Gonzaga, Uconn, and Florida.

Bucknell vs Arkansas was also a close ending and fun to watch.  I wish there would be more NBA games that are this close.   Basketball truely is a great sport to watch.

Finally on a football note, Terrell Owens looks like will be in Dallas.  My god that so won't work.

Happy "Excuse to get Drunk" Day!
Mar 17, 2006 | 9:33AM | report this

Well it is St. Patrick's day once again.  Wooo, nothing too special other then people drinking green beer.  Well time for a random #### rant in a new format.  Whatever I feel like saying, I'll say it

Man why must our USA baseball team be worthless?  They lost to CANADA for god sakes, and they are already out.  Isn't this supposed to be our country's "National Pasttime?"  Then why did we get smoked???

The Cubbies are cursed, Prior and Wood are hurt, as always.  Derrek Lee is hurt too.  I'm losing my faith.

With the USA out, Roger Clemens may have played his last game.  At his age, to still be as good as he is is incredible.

I know very little about college basketball, but in my bracketts yesterday I went 13-3.  How does that happen?  Only ones I got wrong were Syracuse, Air Force, and Nevada.

I have predicted the "UPSET OF THE YEAR" for next rounds games.  George Washington WILL BEAT DUKE!  (I am insane)

What's kinda scary, is that at one of the college games, they had to evacuate everyone because of a bomb scare.  Can you imagine how scary that must have been for the fans and players??

A report says that T.O. might be in Dallas, where many of us figured he would.  This won't work.  If he couldn't handle Garcia and McNabb, how is he gonna deal with Drew Bledsoe?  Plus Parcells is a no-nonsense coach.

Now McCown is in Detroit, add Kitna and Orlowsky.  Can you say, Bye bye Joey Harrington?

Tonight, Ron Artest returns to Indy to play against the Pacers.  This could be very intresting...

The Bulls are 2.5 games back on the 8 seed.  You guys are running out of time...

Jimmie Johnson had his crew chief supsended at Daytona for doing something illeagal.  And since, Johnson has finished 1st, 2nd, and 1st.  Maybe he's on Steroids??

THATS ALL I GOT

Culpepper a Fin, Brees a Saint: The Impact? + T.O.
Mar 14, 2006 | 3:04PM | report this

Big news today as Daunte Culpepper became a Dolphin and Drew Brees became a Saint

Daunte Culpepper Impact on Vikings

Culpepper had given them many solid years including a MVP worthy 2004 season.  However last year, his numbers stunk, he tore his knee, he was on the "Love Boat" and when he left the team went on a winning streak.  The Vikings do not really get hurt in this one.  However they do need to get a young QB to bulid for the future, because Brad Johnson is old.  Brad has only a few years left in him, and he wasn't mobile to begin with.  Maybe get a young free agent or draft a 3rd rounder.  They do need a running game, and a Line to make the offense click.  Troy Williamson and Koren Robinson have potenial.  Plus they did get a 2nd round pick, to help out that D.

 Daunte Culpepper Impact on Dolphins

You can at least bring Culpepper in for competition.  We don't know if Culpepper can play at a good lever because of these factors.

1) The Injury

2 The Pressure of doing it without Moss

The Dolphins don't really have anyone else at QB to rely on.  Gus Frerotte isn't really a good solution, neither is Cleo Lemon.  They have weapons, Chris Chambers, Ronnie Brown, and Randy McMichael.  If Culpepper can play like he did in 04, then the Dolphins are serious title contenders.

 On to Drew Brees

Drew Brees Impact on Chargers

They brought Brees into a crappy team a few years ago when he was drafted.  His first 2 years stunk, then in year 3 (2004) with the help of LT and Antonio Gates, he excelled, got the Chargers to the playoffs for the first time in a while, and won comeback player of the year.  Last year Brees had another really good game, and the Chargers just fell short partially because of the toughness of that divison. (Broncos, Chiefs)  Tossing Brees is incredibly stupid.  Phillip Rivers hasn't proven anything.  Then again he hasn't gotten the chance.  In the end, Rivers could end up being a great QB, but he has little playing experience, and there is no way that he will be better then Brees this year.  Next year maybe.  Then again, Antonio Gates and LaDainian Tomlinson are pretty good, they just need a regular wide-out.

Drew Brees Impact on Saints

The Saints didn't even get to play in New Orleans last year.  And while they played in San Antonio, the fans had to watch Aaron Brooks and Todd Bauman suck it up.  Brees is a great move, as he is much better then the prevously mentioned two.  His talent not only will make the team better, but it will help them sell some tickets.  Deuce McAllister is a talented RB, and Joe Horn and Donte Stallworth are a solid 1-2 punch at WR.  The one worry is if that Brees' shoulder problem could turn him into Chad Pennington

Impact on the Draft

The Culpepper deal shouldn't change much.  However the Brees deal makes the draft situation look complicated.  Most people were saying that the Saints were picking Leinart, Young, or Cutler.  With Brees now, It doesn't seem likely that they will use that pick on a QB.  I think the best player they could get is D'Brickashaw Ferguson.  But with the holes in that D, they may trade the pick and get many lower picks to get more players.  Because there always could be a diamond in the rough, many good players have come late in the draft.

Also this just in.  The Cowboys have released Keyshawn Johnson, which makes you wonder, Terrell Owens???  Terry Glenn is really the only other reciever they have although Witten is a good tight end.  I somehow don't see this working, TO would be working with a hardass coach like Parcells.  And if Garcia and McNabb weren't good enough, wait until he sees the man with no legs, Drew Bledsoe.
