Well Ladies, Gentleman, and all the Brownies from the Dog Pound - that time of the year has unfortunately fell on us yet again. While all the kids get their surf boards ready and beers cold for the hot summer days, and the women hope to God that scale reads what their personal trainer said it would - there happen to be a good majority of us who HATE this time of year. Sure the endless summer brings about pool days and gorgeous girls in bikini's, but it brings a frown to my face; no hockey, no football, and now no basketball. Being this is my first post here at FOX Sports, I feel a sudden convulsion to rant and rave until my mind seizes.
I must say, that waking up every morning to know my favorite show, PTI, hosted by Michael Wilbon and Tony Kornheiser, would have only Baseball to talk about happens to be extremely depressing. Nonetheless, this PTI addiction runs through my veins, and I truly believe I would become an epileptic if it was not itched. Now, not to knock baseball or anything - I think it's great I can watch the first inning, leave for a few hours, and come home to find out I missed absolutely nothing. Notice all of the football programs and football talk shows that are currently on air with a few months left before kickoff - it's because there is really nothing better to talk about. At least Shawn Chacon knows how to bring a little romance to the inter-league play if you know what I mean.
What about the lack of hockey on cable? Hopefully I speak for many people when I say "What the hell?" At least I know you're on my side Melrose, Barry Melrose that is. Congratulations on the job and if you happen to be reading this by some ungodly chance, I was with you when you almost fell on your face after tripping over a crack in St. Louis behind the Blues Arena for the 2007 NCAA Final Four tournament. Melrose had amazingly kept his balance however while keeping his cigar perfectly tucked on the left side of his mouth, never looking back, or breaking focus, and accurately proceeding with his conversation to somehow not miss a beat. Strictly professional and serious coaching material indeed. He will bring light back to Tampa Bay. One.
