During last nights game, Mets SP Pedro Martinez left the Mets during the 7th inning for the Dominican Republic. He left to be with his family after his father died. His father has been battaling with a brain tumor. His father died last night and Pedro will be scratched from his start on Friday. Mike Pelfrey will move up in the rotation to pitch Friday.
Mets starting pitcher Pedro Martinez may return to the Mets this weekend as the Mets take on the St. Louis Cardinals at Shea. Pedro left his start on July 12 against the Rockies due to sholder tightness. The shoulder tightness was caused by an alteration in his delevery due to a groin problem. Pedro recieved a cortisone shot in his hip, not his shoulder.
Really confusing when you think about it. The reason his shoulder hurt was because his groin hurt and now he is getting cortisone shots in his hip, not his shoulder. I just hope that Pedro doesn't hurt himself again.
According to Fox Sports, he is currently listed as day to day.
