Get the life boats out Knicks' fans. Grab your cell phones, say your last farewells to your spouses, oh heck, even your hard-earned cash that has gone down the drink. The maiden voyage of the SS Knicks has left port, and right now, its ill-fated passengers are thinking of bailing. If only the Captain would go down with the ship.
What the heck, it's not like the Captain had a decent payroll to work with....try the highest in the whole dang league!!!! And what has he exactly done with that? A gorgeous 9-24 record. #### beautiful Isiah! Senor El Sinko, I mean Stinko. Sure, the T-wolves have the worst record, but hey, we expected that with the trades to the Celtics. What's your excuse? Everyone around you is sporting that now familar scent of a loser; eau d' Pepe le Pew.
Let's take a look at your compelling career, after you played, and peruse your knockout of a resume.
94-98, Exec VP of Toronto Raptors. Left within four years due to accusations that he handed out perks, including free merchandise and tickets, to NCAA players.
Next port of call, NBC. A broadcasting gig! How well did you do? It was so good, they had to hire Bill *inhale* Walton as your sidekick. Ah....what a compliment, as he is well known for his insightful, unbiased commentary, in a clear, and concise voice.
Captain Thomas then bought the CBA in '98, and two years later, declared bankruptcy. Of course, that wasn't your fault due to the outrageous spending on your part, right? Some teams didn't even get their final paycheck (Quad City Thunder), but you did. Batton down the hatches. Rough seas ahead.
The next clueless team, the Indiana Pacers, hired him as their head coach. After previous coach Larry Bird had left the Captain a team that had played in the Eastern Conference title game, Captain Disaster drove the team into a buoy, failing to guide them past the first round playoffs. When Bird finally returned as VP of Operations, Captain was ordered the walk the gang plank. Too bad the sharks weren't hungry.
After that, Isiah was ready for his next itinerary...New York. He was hired as VP of Operations...for the New York Knicks. Home of the softest, gentlest, most understanding fans in the NBA.
His impact was felt immediately. After spending a fortune, he drove the Knicks into last place in the Atlantic division. In 2005, he signed Jerome James to a five year, 30 mil contract. The Knicks' fans were rewarded with James' mind-boggling stats: 2.9 points and 2.2 rebounds in 22 games. #### perfect. That's around a half a mil per point for you math-challenged fans.
Of course, the Knicks made him coach, (makes sense, right?) and in 2006, he truly struck an iceberg; the Denver Nuggets. The now-famous brawl was a result of his ordering his players to commit a hard foul in the paint, but Captain Doom escaped any fines or suspensions. While the hulls of his ship were torn up, apparently, there were no rats fleeing the ship.
On January 3rd of this year, Captain Isiah truly made his greatness shine. He declared that he would lead the Knicks to a championship and that his goal was to leave a "championship legacy." His record prior to that declaration was 41-71. Sweet. Impressive.
He also lost an 11.6 million dollar lawsuit to Anucha Browne-Sanders, who accused him of sexual harassment. Then again, he really didn't lose.....his bosses have to pay the award. Water under the proverbial #### bridge.
So here you are, Knicks fans. After all that was the greatness of Isiah Lord Thomas' play on the court, his play off-the-court has tarnished his reputation in the NBA. Forever.
Smell any championships? Or has the foul odor of death permeated your senses?
The rats have fled this Titanic of a basketball team. Maydays have been sounded, flares have been shot off, and the only thing left for Capatin Ron to do is stand at the helm, with a brandy in his hand, and contemplate his next cruise through the Bermuda Triangle. Just leave the passengers at home.
Isiah Thomas. Clown of NBA Executives. And the New York Knicks are stuck with a one-way ticket to the Mariana Trench. The deepest part of Earth. Just above hell.
(Steward) Captain we have a problem. We just hit a brick wall or something. Maybe it's a giant glacier. Should we break out the lifeboats?
(Captain Isiah) Let's not panic here. I'm not going anywhere till I get some respect. Chip me off some that ice into a couple of champagne buckets full and tell that hottie in 4C to get her #### up here on the double.
(willis reed) this is total BS. Come on Walt let's get our jersey's out of here before someone burns them down with the building.

Being an ex-Navy man, I get a little nervous when references are made to abandon ship. You understand.
You might find this interesting, but BB was my first love. I was tall for my age, and my father hung a goal for me when I was seven. That came about after watching the 1970 NBA championship between the Knicks and Lakers. Some of the greatest players in NBA history were on those teams. I became a Knicks fan and have been so since.
It's sad to see this organization in such a state, but in reality, they've been dysfunctional since their last title in 73. I.T. has been an embarrassment to the league, and I can't understand why he's been allowed to maintain his employment. If I were accused and ultimately found guilty of sexual harassment, I'd have been fired on the spot.
Loved that reference to Marsh Mellow Mouth Bill Walton - lol.
Nice post.

First off I'd like to say that "Fire Zeke" flows better than "Fire Isiah"....anyway....I think Captain Ahab over at the Garden is delusional. He has no idea how to build a team, let alone coach one. That being said, I don't know how to coach one either but that's not my job. Isiah has tried to build this team as if it were his yahoo sports fantasy basketball team. If this were the case, and the team's success was built around individual success, Zeke would have a pretty darn good fantasy team. Hey, I mean big Zach would get him 20 and 15 a night right? How bout his boy Stephon? 18 points 7 assists? not bad, not bad. What about Skinny Jamal Crawford (who I love by the way), he has the tendency to get buck wild on any given night. So what's the matter here? Well for one, for all the Crawford talent, and Robinson energy you got, theres a Quenton Richardson, who has probably become the worst shooter in NBA history. I can't even remember the last time I saw him knock down a 3-ball. And I don't want to hear that he was only good in Phoenix because he had steve nash penetrating and kicking it out to him, you still have to make the shots. Stephon Marbury penetrates and kicks out every chance he gets, he misses just as many wide open shots as he made back in Phoenix. And he can't play defense either. Pathetic.
Eddy Curry, what happened buddy? Oh that's right, I forgot, you're still mad at your glorified coach for makin you ride the pine for a couple games. Get over it Mr. Curry, because he realized he was wrong the next night when he started you and you responded with about 9/10
Everything he touches turns to ####. He was a great basketball player, but probably the worst executive/coach in NBA history. You'll have a tough time finding someone who has a worse track record. Nice blog, Lisa. Maybe one of these days Dolan will fire Zeke, sell the franchise, and then the Knicks can be rebuilt to a respectable franchise after all these ungodly salaries are paid off.
I find it really amazing how we as Americans can be lead down any road by the media. If Sport media don't like you then they put the full court press on you and then the rset of America now don't like you. As for as Issiah Thomas he is just a coach of a bad team. I don't see anyone compalining about Pat Riley, coach in NJ, or coach Dunlevy in LA. I am a knick fan and I am a man too, so I make up my own mind. I wish alot of you did the same and quit letting the pupit master play you alone.
First off great article to Lisa, Also great comments to those who have posted them so far. Now my thoughts:
To be honest he wasn't all that great a player. He was a bully, thief, crybaby, winer, thug, and punk.
He orchestrated the freeze out of MJ and denied it. He made the comments about Magic Johnson being #### and then tried to sweet talk his way out of it.
At a basketball camp I went to him and his goon a@@ friends broke into lockers and stole other attendees valuables. Folks this guy is simply a loser.
He has a history of destruction and it's regarding anyone who associates themselves with him. He cannot and will not tell the truth, it's not in his blood to do anything good for mankind.
Contravery is always within finger tip reach with this clown as evident by his behavior. This means that James Dolan has got to be the most ignorant and stupid owner in the history of sports. Knicks & Knicks fans "Rest In Peace" for Isiah will probably run for president. Talk about the cat with nine lives... it doesn't come close to how many opportunities zeke has to screw up everything card blanche is his forte.
Lisa
The insightful intelligence and astuteness of Thomas and Dolan seems to know no bounds. They'll ruin the franchise and at the same time Stern turns a blind eye to the environment female employees no doubt have to work under there. That being said it's going to take a whole lot more than guile into making this team respectable again. They're not only on the cusp of making the likes of the Clippers seem respectable but they're now in a dogfight to see who's the worse team in the Eastern Conference. Between they and the Heat as of now. I don't know who is indeed the worse of the worst.
Even if Shaq returns I doubt that the Heat'll return to being competitive. Age if nothing has caught up with him. And the franchise is beginning to realize this. Wade can't do it all on his own. And Shaq's just there to collect on the $40m that he's still owed by the team.

we've gone way behind red-alert status. Thomas just said a few dayus ago, 'this is a championship team, and i want to see it'.....last time i looked, Willis, Walt. Bill, Jerry, Dave, Earl and Phil were champions in NYC. look...he shipwrecked the CBA personally...Toronto finally got past all his pilot-errors, and his hand still reflects his mark on the Pacers. The Knicks knew what they were gettin when thety got him, and he and LarryBrown flew/sailed the Knicks into the triangle/blackhole...whatever you want to call it. is it mutinous, to abandone ship and abort and let IsiahThomas aka CaptainQueeg/WolfLarsen run the SSKnickerbocker flounder?
ROTC....what part of Isiah's post-NBA playing days would you like to point with pride to?
The man has done nothing positive professionally, that I can see.
You say he's a coach of a bad team...he was the GM, he hand-picked and traded for those players...if the team is bad, he has no one but the man in the mirror to blame. No one.
Thisisit!...thanks for the props....he got on my nerves one too many times, so I vented. He did freeze MJ.....and then over-compensated in the all-star game, remember?
Tophat....hey, you can't blame Stern (for once) about Thomas' blatant harassment within the organization. That's an internal thing that MSQ should have handled. They blew it, and now have to pay the price. The Heat...ugh, poor Miami. I guess all those fans who said Shaq was not a good player must be eating crow now.
I see you're on Home page rumors... nice. Only you could manage to put Pepe, Captain Ron, and the Titanic mixed into one post. Bravo for that. As for the Knicks... well now, they're a mess... then again, I think the Heat are in a good battle with them.
Is there any way to fix the Knicks? Short term does not seem likely as they have some of the most bloated contracts for under performing players ever. Looking at their roster i don't see a single player who has any trade value. Maybe some one young like Renaldo Balkman. But giving up your best or up and coming players is how a team gets worse. Free agency probably won't bring much help either as all the Knicks can offer are overblown contracts which they are almost tapped out of. The only solution is for the current big contracts to expire Marbury, Q, Jerome James and then Curry and Randolph and to aggressivley go after Role players and Franchise players.
erock, as a Celtics fan (and trust me, it's not easy here in Cali) I know the frustration. You got hammered with Jerome...he wasn't worth it. But he is an unrestricted free agent, isn't he? The one positive you have is that it's New York! The fans won't put up with more of this, and the only solution to a quick fix is to get rid of Isiah Thomas, hire an interim coach that the players will listen to.
Let's face it..the players are still getting paid, and this season is pretty well done. They have nothing really to play for, so why listen to the Captain? he doesn't have their respect.. he's in over his head. Playing for the lottery pick seems like a good plan.
KSP...yeah, it wasn't easy incorporating Thomas, the Titanic and Captain Ron, oh wait...snap...it was a piece of cake.
Forget about Isiah Thomas for a while, voting America you best read this. OBAMA'S CHURCH
Subject: TRINITY UNITED CHURCH OF CHRISTThis is the web page for the church Barack Obama belongs to: www.tucc.org/about.htm
During this campaign for the Presidency, It's interesting that so much has been made of Mitt Romney's Mormom religion, while we hear so little of Barack Obama's, outside of the denials of his being Muslim. However, if you look more closely at Trinity United Church of Christ, Obama's church, it sounds more like a racist cult than anything else, with a committment, not to America, but to Africa. Scary, when you consider this man could be the President of this United States.
Obama mentioned his church during his appearance with Oprah. It's the Trinity Church of Christ. I found this interesting.
Obama's church: Please read and go to this church's website and read what is written there. It is very alarming. Barack Obama is a member of this church and is running for President of the U.S. If you look at the first page of their website, you will learn that this congregation has a non-negotiable commitment to Africa. No where is AMERICA even mentioned.
Notice too, what color you will need to be if you should want to join Obama's church... B-L-A-C-K!!!
Doesn't look like his choice of religion has improved much over his (former?) Muslim upbringing.
This guy desires to rule over America while his loyalty is totally vested in a Black Africa!
I cannot believe this has not been all over the TV and newspapers. This is why it is so important to pass this message a
I have never really been an Isiah fan I did (WAY BACK WHEN) like the Nicks but thats when i liked the N.B.A. the game today isnt the same I cant stand to watch it.
gotta...well...I am a Celts fan, and nothing gave me greater pleasure than watching replays of Thomas' inbounds pass getting stolen by Bird and dished to DJ for the lay-up....suh-weet! But he was a great NBA player...first ballot HOF I believe. Deserving for sure.
I firmly believe Isiah Thomas must have compromising pictures of everyone in basketball. This guy is so bad, he shouldn't even have a job emptying wastebaskets at Madison Square Garden, much less driving (Steering? Guiding? Piloting?)the ship....
THIS JUST IN THERE ARE RUMORS THAT MARBURY CAUGHT ISIAH AND ANOTHER PLAYER TALKING IN A INTIMATE MANNER IN THE LOCKER ROOM. AND STATES THAT ISIAH IS #### AND IT WILL ALL COME OUT SOON.
WOW, Way to go Lisa. I like a sister that tells it like it is. You didn't hold anything back girl, that's right tell the truth and shame the d.e.v.i.l! I'm glad that you explain to ROTC that Isiah is a bad coach,GM and that he's responsible for the Knicks condition. If you had not said something to ROTC I would have had to put my two cents in. Much respect to you and your article.
I never thought Thomas was that good of a player, talented yes but not strong mentally (which continues to show).
Thanks for the memory of that great play, DJ was underrated while Isiah was overrated. Too bad about your Celts tonight, Ray sitting out and they look like a different team. Hope it (the nerve pinch) doesn't dog him for long, would love to see the Celts continue to dominate this year.
Funny stuff, Lise. Captain Isiah has some dirt on the entire ownership in New York. I cannot believe this guy has not lost his job. I don't pay attention to what they do anymore. Long gone are the great years of Patrick Ewing, Charles, the Oak Tree, John Starks, Anthony Mason, Xavier McDaniel. Yeah, I know, the names after Ewing make you want to hold on to your wallet, but they were an entertaining bunch of thugs and crooks and I loved watching them play cause they could get down. Today's Knicker Knockers are a bunch of punks and womanizers who can't throw a tennis ball into the Hudson - just a shame.
nba yeah...I want the Celts to continue to improve even if one of their big 3 sits out....but I'm patient. :)
bro...the funny thing is...the NBA went into decline and Bird and Magic brought it back, both class acts, altho neither one of them could link a noun and a verb grammar correctly.
The problem is now, there's no one that plays for the love of the game anymore, and they all are a bunch of whiny brats. Where's the class of the NBA? Who will bring it back?
Those days maybe long over young lady. With as much money athletes earn now, I don't believe they play for the love of the game; it's all about the love of the money. I still hold out hope with the likes of Chris Paul, Darren Williams, Kevin Durant, and the very likable and articulate Greg Oden.
I wish you had mentioned Zeke's comments during the Sexual Harrassment suit about Not giving a s.hi.t about white fans. That goes over well as a life-long Knicks fan.
And how could we all forget how Marbury screamed He had tons of dirt on Zeke when I-say-duh benched him. Then Starbury disappears. And as of late on their recent roadtrip Curry's screaming on the bench "Get me out of here!"
Everything this man touches turns to c.ra.p. And Dolan is a born-rich #### who lives off of his Dad's vision, hardwork, and money.
Keep David Lee, Balkman, Randolph (like his attitude or not he puts up points AND BOARDS) Let those horrific contracts expire (I think we're still paying Alan Houston) and draft smarter
What set Bird and Magic apart was their basketball mentality as well as their endless dedication, not their ability regarding use of the English language. There are still a few players who obviously love the game more than the bucks and ego stroking. I have to agree that Chris Paul is a class act, Steve Nash also comes to mind as someone who is always working to make himself and his teammates better. Josh Howard is another player that lets his game do the talking. Right now it seems like the Knicks exemplify the current decline, hands down!
broblog- no way can you start a sentence of of Knick greats and finish it without Bernard King Bill Bradley Walt Frazier Willis Reed Dave DeBusschere #### Barnett Bernard King even Phil Jackson was apart of that championship run.
Lisa- I'm not actually a Knicks fan, i'm a die hard suns guy, but Ive been following the knick decline for almost 7 years and i have to say a new interim coach won't help much. No one will ever be able to handle Marbury. Even with underachievers Randolph and Curry any new coach is still gonan get squashed by the nets celtics 76ers and up and coming raptors.
Now Isaih thinks he can kick the refs around (besides the woman in the NBA -Knicks Corp.) Put him in Hollywood where ge can get away with that ####. He can't coach, can't get along with people and is a complete phony, who thnks he is a basketball GOD. Get him the hell out of there and wake up Knicks management if you have any balls. He is a complete enbarrassment and makes it look because he is black, he can do no wrong (conversely, he can do anything he can get away with). Knick fans should just boycott until he is gone . What an ####!
Erock, man, you are the man with that comment, bro. The names you have mentioned are right on point. I did not grow up watching those guys. Man, Rock, you rock on that one.
Everyybody loves when an (ex) athlete boasts that he will win, embarass or "whup" an opponent. Mohammed Ali was the best. T.O. backs up hs boasts and others like Babe Ruth came through and eventualy became legends. Now, the Knicks are another story. Isiah Thomas is telling the press that they are going to win the NBA chamionshp this year. It shows that this man is in need of counseling and medication and in no way should he be the manager, let alone President of the Knicks. The team owner is actually in love with this guy. Whatever explanation can you give for such a useless, slandering ($11 million) poor performing wrecker of franchises. And yet they still let him coach. New York's glory days are gone and I hope they pay for it (banruptcy). What is it going to take to get him the hell out of there. Everyone on the team hates him along with the fans. Then he must be some "special" relationship wit the owner. Maybe he liked Liberache too- at least he could entertain. MagicMelvin
On the eve of game one, I had to say how happy I was that I found this. Wow. Great mention of the CBA. Oldest pro basketball league in the States, and it only took "Zeke" a couple of years to put it under. As for the poor folks in Indiana, I guess that was his way of getting Bird back for stealing the slowest inbounds pass ever, handing it off to DJ and costing the Pistons a shot at the Finals. My dad still gets red under the collar when I bring that up.
