How the season is shaping up so far...
Oct 09, 2008 | 8:22AM | report this

I apologize for the long standing break between posts and the last time I posted on Bobby's blog. Alot going on, not to mention my Bills are tearing up the NFL(well not Arizona), but I'm glad to be back!

Obviously I'm very excited that my Reds are doing particularly well and the scum that call themselves Man U seem to be having problems, no matter what Rooney is saying.

With that said lets take a look at the "Good, Bad and Ugly" Lets start with UGLY first:

TOTTENHAM- Entering the international break things couldn't be worse for Spurs in the league. Sitting bottom for a team that had hopes of finally breaking into the Champions League is nothing short of astonishing. They've scored only four goals while giving up 10 and are looking quite disjointed on the pitch. Even more daunting is that they play Arsenal(Oct 29th) and then Liverpool(Nov 1st) in one week.

The good news is that their league form hasn't followed over into Europe. They are into the group stages and still remain one of the favorites to get out of their group. Also good news is that they play Stoke, Udinese and Bolton when returning from the international break.

Spurs obviously have more talent then what is on display currently. I expect this team to get much better as the season progresses and wouldn't be shocked to see them rise to fifth the time May comes rolling around. Every team goes through a bad spell, yes even the Chelsea's and Man U's do too. Spurs' just seems to be more elongated and at the beginning of the season.

NEWCASTLE- The only good thing you can say is that this team is not sitting bottom of the league.

This club is an absolute joke right now. Does anyone have a clue? Also Danny Guthrie is a ####. He should be out for months for his ridiculous challenge that injured a Hull player. Glad we got rid of him.

This team has talent, no doubt. But as long as JFK, Lil Denny and Fat Mike are running the club relegation is a very real possibility, and something that they would be favored to do. Its going to be a long season for the Toon Army.

Moving on, lets take a look at the BAD:

EMMANUEL ADEBAYOR- This man has loads of talent. He has all the attributes, save a couple,  that you want in a forward, not to mention he is lightning fast. The one attribute that this man lacks the most is composure in front of the goal. With the schedule Arsenal has played so far, there is no reason they shouldn't have a 100% record.

The unfortunate situation at the beginning of the season was that Cesc was out and the loss to Bolton could be outlined with his absence as they couldn't get a hold of the midfield. Again, that being said, Adebayor has 3 goals thus far. He should have at the least 9(my prediction for him at the beginning of the season was 12). I have honestly lost count on how many chances he has blown already. We're only seven games in. By the way, Ade's 3 goals all come in the same game with his team leading and to put on top of that came against the worst keeper in the Premiership, Paul Robinson.

If Arsenal wants to start winning trophies he needs to start taking his chances with more regularity or they need to find someone who can finish.

Or else its looking like another season of barren for those in North London.

MANCHESTER CITY'S DEFENSE- Yes I know Richard Dunne has been out for a while but when you take a look at their attacking options and the fact that those players can hold onto the ball for what seems like forever, Sparkey should have that D in tip-top shape.

If they want to challenge for a top four spot then they need to add depth to that squad and stop trying to outscore everybody. They've conceded 12 goals thus far and only a handful of teams have conceded more

They are fun to watch though, I will give them that.

Moving on, lets look at the GOOD:

HULL- What can you say about them that hasn't been already said? Granted I've only watched three of the seven games they've played in which they've won everyone of those, but they do seem to be playing some inspired team football. Team football with moments of absolute brilliance. I feel safe in saying that we have already seen the goal of the season with Geovanni's corker against Arsenal.

Hull are sitting third in the table on 14 points. 1 point and place above the Gunners who they beat at the Emirates(I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure United, Liverpool and Chelsea have failed to do that yet in the league), 3 points and 5 places above the Scum and are only 3 points back of leaders Chelsea and Liverpool.

The 5-0 loss against Wigan is their only blemish and probably served up a good reminder to team and manager alike that every game is going to be a battle in this league.

BIG PHIL- Hasn't lost a game and has his team playing well. Not a big surprise but with some of the injuries they've sustained and that he has Chelsea playing some attractive football, he deserves some recognition.

FERNANDO TORRES- Yes call me biased but this man has been absolute class for Liverpool. He has scored the game winning goal and only goals of the game for Liverpool in two games(Sunderland and Everton) and has scored his other two goals when Liverpool were down 2-0 to City and then went on to play an important part in setting up the winner for Kuyt.

He also set up Robbie's first goal for the club against PSV as well as setting up Kuyt's in that game as well.

Its nice to see someone other than Stevie do it.

Looking forward to Oct 26th, Chelsea v Liverpool!
