Fantasy luck
Dec 10, 2007 | 9:50PM | report this
I went in as the 8th and final seed in my fantasy football league this weekend and took out the No. 1 seeded team with a fairly convincing win. I would have beaten any of the lower seeds, but had the weakest performance of the 4 semifinalists. My matchup this weekend will be tough, but maybe, just maybe, if I win, I'm in the money, I lose and I get a third place game to basically win back my entry, which would be nice, but I will have to see. My team is the Hurricanes, and I thought I entered this season sitting pretty with M. Bulger as one of my two holdovers. Laughibly, my other holderover was T. Glenn, wow that was a mistake. But somehow, I fought through with a 6-7 record and made the playoffs in a tiebreaker over a good friend, whom I had beat head to head, so I moved on and took out another good friend in a piece of luck for me but probably more like bad luck for him, but his team which had been piecemealed together was due for a defeat, he had only stopped me the week before in the final week of the regular season. I know have B. Griese and K. Clemens to hold me up at QB, along with Bulger--does anyone know if he's playing this weekend. J. Jones and brother T. Jones are two of my running backs... B. Westbrook has been my stud, along with W. Welker at WR and D. Mason, as well as scrubs like M. Booker, T. Glenn and other weak links. My TEs are the Bears duo whom of niether has jumped out and shown to be a stud most weeks. But I have G. Olson for a holdover the first time we institute our new franchise player (11th round or later) next year. I realy think he has the opportunity to be a stud TE in the years to come. I have the Bills D/ST, which has actually not treated me too terrible most weeks, but nothing consistent and awesome by any means, but a few strong weeks. Kicking is M. Stover and R. Brionis, and both are fairly stable. And just hopefully I can ride these bunchof misfits to some mulah in my fantasy football league. Well let's see what happens and what does, does, so be it.

Sports Blog

I watch enough sports and read about it almost daily, so why not write a little of my thoughts about it. Here is a quick lowdown on where my major team stands. The Chiefs BLEEP big time, after a huge loss in Denver it looks as if they have probably hung it up this year. What started with some promises ends with a thud. I watched only a little more than a quarter of the game and that should say everything, becasue I would normally watch all of any Chiefs game, but I got so disappointed I didn't watch much. That says a lot. Fortunately, my college's football team fared much better this weekend, advancing to the Championship Game this Saturday. The NWMSU Bearcats stormed past the Lakers of Grand Valley State, whom they had lost the previous two years. OK, so it was acutally a very good game, NW trailed at half, 10-13, then scored a TD to watch GV climb back to within 1 but then explode in the fourth quarter. And too the Jayhawks won earlier that date to move its record to 9-0 and firmly lock themselves as one of the top three or four teams in the country right now, in fact, the way they played, they made a strong case for No.1 in the country. Well, I'll tell you one thing, they  would play the Tar Heels to a damn fine game. Please just once give us that final--Roy vs. his old team, wow! But I see the 'Hawks firing on many cylinders, not quite all of them yet, but getting close and if they can get it really rolling, I really don't think any team should really be much of a challenge for them. They are really that good, OK so NC, Georgetown, Memphis, Texas? and maybe a few other teams would really be a great challenge if KU plays the way it should, can and I believe will, but once again I get my hopes of so strong only to have them not reached. Also I guess it's good news that the  Royals aren't playing because they too would probably be losing like my Chiefs. I'm also an optimist before the season starts, and I really think the Royals could go .500 this season and maybe, just maybe get rolling and win the Central, ok that is way too much optimism, but maybe, just maybe they reach .500 behind strong pitching of Grienke, Meche and some other stud they happen to pick up, ok now here I go dreaming again. i jwill wait for the season and see, but i seriouly hope to score opening day tickets and see this magical season get under way. I guess also I should be a Brigade fan, I mean I don't have an NBA or NHL team to follow here in KC, and arena football is a fast-paced, strong hitting, big play game and much respect to it.

ABOUT ME

KC_KU_FAN
Hi, Shane here from Kansas City. I am a Chiefs, KU, Royals, Wizards, Brigade fan along with many other teams and athlets for whom I like to cheer. I watch way too many sports, or at least that is what my wife would say. I am an optimist and like to talk about the fun, good and intersting things in sports like Brett Farve, Adrian Peterson, Playoffs, great feats, fantastic finishes, great sportsmanship
and hate dwelling on the negative. My team loses, I move on--you cannot have too much inveseted into any game. But it sure is fun to be a fan. So I hope to always enjoy sports and please let me tell you about it.
