Boston Celtics: Joke’s Over
Apr 30, 2008 | 12:20PM | report this

Josh Q. Public:  Just cut the stuff, ’til you get enough.  ‘Cause we’re rougher than tougher and rougher tougher than tough!  -Run DMC

Public Service Announcement:  Ok, here we go!  Like my main man Popeye always says, “I’ve had all I can stands, I can’t stands no more.”  How many times do we have to see it?  How many times do we have to see J-Schmoove flying to the hole?  Death defying to the hole.  Electrifying to the hole.  How many time do we have to Joe Johnson get to the lane?  Into the lane without shame.  Again and again.  Until he’s drinking champagne?  The Celtics need to get tough.  Rough and tough, cold huff and puff.  Don’t bluff the stuff, got enough to rough.  The Celtics need to get rough.  Like Kevin McHale got rough.  Like Kevin McHale got rough back in 1984.  Back in 1984 against the LA Lakers.  The Showtime Lakers.  The Jack Nicholson Lakers.  The Dancing Barry Lakers.  Bird Vs. Magic.  East Coast Vs. West Coast.  The Celtics were just embarrassed in Game Three.  Just humiliated in Game Three.  Just abased in Game Three.  And it was happening again.  Happening again in Game Four.  Magic was going coast-to-coast at will.  Big Game James was going to the rack unmercifully.  Byron Scott was knocking down jumper after jumper.  Kareem was skyhooking without abandon.  And that’s when it happened.  That’s when I saw her, ooh, I saw her.  She walked in through the out door, out door.  Kevin McHale walked in through the out door, out door.  Kevin McHale smashed Kurt Rambis to the ground.  Kevin McHale simply caught that four eyed freak in mid-air, grabbed him around the neck, and threw him to the ground. It was brutal.  It was mesmerizing.  It was tantalizing.  Captivating.  Devastating.  That’s the no lay-up rule baby!  It turned around the game.  It turned around the series.  It turned around the way Pat Riley coached basketball.  It is what the Celtics desperately need to employ.  Right here.  Right now.  J-Schmoove goes flying to the rim?  Smash him to the ground.  No lay-up rule.  Joe Johnson gets into the lane?  Smash him to the ground.  No lay-up rule.  The joke is over.  Fun and games are over.  This ain’t no party.  This ain’t no disco.  This ain’t no fooling around.  No time for dancing.  Or lovey dovey.  I ain’t got time for that now.  I ain’t got time for any of it.  And neither should the Celtics.

Public Spectacle This is what the Celtics need to do to the Hawks tonight:

Peace out homies.  Six two and even!

Joke about this all you want but I bet that most Celtics' fans aren't happy at this juncture ? Especially as the thinking was that the Hawks would be a pushover.
Instead we've got the Celtics in what could turn out to be real battle. And the Hawks aren't about to surrender anytime soon.
They're not the French !

garnett-pierce-allen

The Three Amigos ?

They could end up being known as .......

threestooges

The Three Stooges if they can't get Boston out of the first round.

It's as plain and simple as that... so pray that they start to play as good as they believe themselves to be rather than underestimating their opposition.

I wonder how many prognosticators actually had the Hawks winning two games... let alone tying the series. I'm willing to bet none. Zero. Zilch. The only people who did were those giddy (but unrealistic) Hawks fans. But hey, give Hot-lanta credit, they ain't rollin' over for nobody!

Hope all is well Josh... later man... kp

I think the one thing Atlanta has is young guys on young legs, lol. Boston should put them away but Atlanta has shown that They wont back down. Awesome playoff series though.

Lakers:

I can't imagine the Celtics not winning tonight. But If I see one more Hawk get to the hole without paying a price, I will be pissed.

Nice Godfather clip.
The problem is, they tried that already...to no avail.

Zaza wasn't intimidated by KG at all...the ankle biter Cassell tried to get involved...they're lucky there were no suspensions.

How about play basketball?...the Thuggets are fishing - let's leave the gangsta #### at the lake with them.

Go Hawks!

The Hawks are giving the Celtics more than they can handle right now. I can remember all of ther hoopla when the Pats made it to the Superbowl and much of the displays that we're seeing by the Celtics' fans were akin to that. And now as evidenced what happened to the Pats made a lot of people sit up and take note. So underestimate the Hawks at your expense as it could all well come back to bite the Celtics' fans in the proverbial ####.

End this farce now...or lose and take the Mavs off the hook for the giant ahoga!

Nice video. You'll easily see all the fake punches and kicks. One punch to the face missed by at least six inches. Funny stuff.

I know you probably won't appreciate my saying this but I would VERY concerned right now if I was a Celtics fan.

Josh Smith and Joe Johnson are abusing the Celtics perimeter defense at will. A meeting with LeBron is on the horizon.

If Boston can't defend those two, what hope do they have versus the King?

I think their only hope is to have KG guard LeBron for significant stretches.

Was Paul Pierce always this bad defensively?

Even if the Celtics do win, what is Lebron going to do to Pierce?

Rampant- 3 stooges....that is classic, you should of saved that for a blog if/when the Celtics lose a series.

Another 20+ point win for the Celtics tonight, Atlanta is a classic young team playing above their ability when at home.

Next game is when the Celts need to make a statement...

Like I said all along... the Celtics lack of experience playing together in big games is gonna come back to bite them when its playoff time.

But Gang Green still has time to put it together.

Now is when we will see how good of a coach DOC RIVERS really is.

(As Glenn Frey sings, "The Heat is on. The Heat is o-on... burnin' burnin' burnin'. The Heat is........ on.")

Thoroughly resounding win tonight but it'd help if they can seal the deal once and for all in game 6 ! That way it won't leave a doubt in anyone's mind as to who the better team was. As of now the mantle of 'em being in the best in the NBA doesn't seem justified ! Not when they're having troubles against the likes of the Hawks.

the only problem with this post is that the lakers owned the celtics if you look at the whole decade. 5 rings and 8 finals to 3 rings and 5 finals. hmm acually more like the Lakers and celtics owned the rest of the league, ok my bad :p
nice little rap ditti though :)
