Public Service Announcement: Ok, here we go! Hockey Talk. No Blue, no Devils talk. No supporting the team. Although Martim Brodeur may be the best goalie there’s ever been. The best we’ve ever seen. Better than Orson Bean. But no. I watched some highlights today. Some hockey hiyghlights today. Some Big Bad Bruins hockey highlights today. I watched the Big Bad Bruins stick it to the Philadelphia Flyers. Stuck it to ‘em real good like. The Big Bad Bruins stuck it to the Philadelphia Flyers in overtime. Good old fashioned hockey. Bobby Clarke hockey. Even wore the throwbacks. Whenever I see those old Bruin Uni’s I think of one thing and one thing only. That music. You know the music. New York, London, Paris, Munich. Everybody talk about, pop musik. That channel 38 music. It kind of goes a little something like this:
JoshQ, you're awesome! Thanks for bringing me back to the heyday of Bruins hockey. I was a young teen when most of these clips were recorded and I was absolutely a hockey fanatic, which meant of course that I was a B's fanatic too - Fred Cusick and John Pearson - I watched every single game that was on TV - no big-screen HDTV stuff either....
My dad brought me to an appearance by Ken Hodge and John Bucyk at Acton High when I was probably 12 and I was lucky enough to snag autographed pics of the two players plus a puck that had been used in practice by the Bruins, which I still have somewhere.
thats the best sports theme music ever. its etched in my brain. i was at some thing at the my school when i was little. all kids. bobby orr was speaking. he made sure he talked to each kid and shhok their hand. not just sign an autograph and move on, literally have a conversation with each kid. it was great. bobby orr was huge back in the day. big as bird. big as papi. if not bigger. that day still ranks amongst the best in my life.
he probably still could. i still remember the day i opened a pack of hockey cards and there he was in blackhawks uniform. one of the wierdest sights ever.
I Got Your Announcement: "those who live in the past are bound to repeat it" not!! I was promised steak and tails and i get left over ham, ham like sam, i would have rather seen more sam. Whos Martim? not martim, Martin! i tell you who, josh heres a who! Hes the guy who just hit 40 this year, not years, wins, thats who!! Ive been robbed, robbed like Todd Warell in 85, and that would make you dandy don dekinger. Turn out the lights, the parties over, for the bruins, that is. Me on the other hand, im runnin with the devils.
Those Bobby Orr highlights were awesome.....When I was a kid in Conn. TV38 was the only station that showed hockey.....Grew to love the Bruins....and those Orr teams were amazing....thanks fot the memories....
