Patriots: Business As Usual
Jan 21, 2008 | 7:40AM | report this

Josh Q. Public:  Are you ready, are you ready for this?  Are you hanging on the edge of your seat?  Out of the doorway the bullets rip to the sound of the beat.  Hey, I’m gonna get you too.  Another one bites the dust.  -Queen

Public Service Announcement:  OK here we go!  Just another Sunday at the gravel pit.  Like seventeen Sundays before it.  Every Given Sunday!  Yabba dabba doo!  Sure Mr. Slate was a little more ornery than usual.  But good ole Twinkle Toes Flintstone had a few tricks up his sleeve.  Good ole Twinkle Toes Flintstone took care of business as usual.  Taking care of business every day.  Taking care of business every way.  I’ve been taking care of business, it’s all mine.  Taking care of business and working overtime.  Kevin Faulk was working overtime.  Kevin Faulk has been working overtime for the New England Patriots for nine years now.  Kevin Faulk has been working overtime for the New England Patriots for three rings.  Kevin Faulk worked overtime for the New England Patriots once again yesterday.  Oh, I believe in yesterday.  Everywhere you looked yesterday, there was Kevin Faulk.  Everywhere Tom Brady looked yesterday, there was Kevin Faulk.  Here a Faulk.  There a Faulk.  Everywhere a Faulk, Faulk.  There was Kevin Faulk lined up in the backfield.  There was Kevin Faulk lined up in the slot.  There was Kevin Faulk lined up at wide receiver.  There was Kevin Faulk making big plays.  Huge plays.  Game winning plays.  Diving and rolling for an important first down.  Two minutes later a fourteen-yard grab for another first down to seal the deal.  Seal-a-meal.  The fresh new solution for game storage.  Faulk wasn’t the only one working overtime.  The New England Patriots defense put in another yeomanlike effort.  As in, Yo man, you ain’t getting in here.  Not in my house.  Three times the Chargers entered the red zone.  Get the papers, get the papers, get the papers.  Three times the Chargers had to settle for a field goal.  I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again.  You don’t score touchdowns against this Patriot team, you don’t win.  Period.  Exclamation point.  You don’t win against these old linebackers.  These washed up linebackers.  Vrabel, Bruschi and Junior Seau.   Vrabel, Bruschi and Junior Seau all made key stops on all three red-zone series that all ended in field goals.  Ballgame!  You don’t win against Bill Belichick either.  Pinky, are you pondering what I’m pondering?  I think so Brain, but Zero Mostel times anything will still give you Zero Mostel.  Bill Belichick worked overtime.  Worked overtime and made adjustments.  Oh, Tom Brady isn’t having a Tom Bradylike day.  Fine.  We’ll tighten it up.  Brighten it up.  Make it righten it up.  We’ll give it to Laurence Maroney.  We’ll smash you in the mouth.  For the second week in a row, Laurence Maroney was a difference-maker for New England.  For the second week in a row the Patriots won a playoff game.  With two weeks to prepare for the Giants, the Patriots are preparing for Disney Land

That's hardly what I call usual for a team that is 18-0. They had so many bad pays in that game. They are lucky that the Chargers had more bad plays, or they might not be going to Arizona right now.

Take care, Josh!

i wonder how the super bowl will be this year?? are the giants ,giant killers?????? or will the pats find that way to win like they have all season?????

they pats will go 19-0, though i'm not too sure if they're the best ever. the '85 bears were NASTY. however, if you add that '85 bears to the pat's '07 schedule, along with the '89 niners', and '92 cowboys, do i think the pats will win the superbowl??? yes. go undefeated??? no. the pats played the best with the schedule they were given, and i think if there was a team like that '85 bears, they would rise to the occasion and try to sneak out a win. if the pats were put in an "imaginary" NFL, were the 31 other best teams in nfl history were put together with the pats to make up the 32 teams, and the pats had to randomly play 16 of these teams in the regularly season, then the playoff games. yea, i'd say the pats go at least 10-6 (it might sound low) and advance to the playoffs. with this teams talent, i'd say they'll utilize whatever weapons they have on offense, the defense will play their best, and yes, as an underdog (at least 10-6 record), i'd say they advance to the superbowl, possibly playing the '85 bears in the superbowl. those bears beat another pats team, but i'm not sure they can beat THIS pats team. it depends on how this pats defense plays, and if tom brady gets into a rhythm. so yes, in a sense, this is probably the greatest team in nfl history. judging by how they played in the playoffs, you wouldn't think so. but keep in mind, a lot of pressure is being put on them, since they're undefeated. Josh, great blog and there is no doubt this team is the best and will go down as the best ever. Funny thing is to me it's not because they are undefeated and more than likely will stay that way but they are as complete a team as we will ever see.

I am happy for Kevin Faulk. He has always been a part of what the Pat's have been these last couple of years. I had the opportunity to watch him while at LSU and although I knew he was good and would be a good player in the NFL I just didn't see him being what he is today. A reliable work Horse who comes through when you need him. Kudos to Faulk and go Pat's

P.S. I just can't for the life of me understand the hate for the Pat's. Damn it's about time some team did this don't you think? Other teams could learn a lot from them.

PATRIOTS ARE CHEATERS!

THE NFL SHOULD HAVE TAKEN AWAY THIER SUPERBOWL CHAMPIONSHIPS AND THEY SHOULD FORFIT EVERY GAME THE NFL FOUND THEM TO BE CHEATING IN!

THE UNDEFEATED RECORD MEANS NOTHING!

Great read as always JQP.

I got to give props to the Pats blocking, and not just their o-line, ALL their receivers were blocking like Hines Ward. Moss and Gafney who aren't the strongest guys were just pushing SD's DBs around like nothing.

Josh, again great stuff!

I have to agree with gambit, right now they are the complete team. Faulk came out big for them and congrats to him.

weeeee, you really don't know what you're talking about. The Pats are legit. That hurts to admit but they are. All teams do whatever it takes to win, Belichick just got caught. But you can see the result of how he and the team responded to that.

Hey Josh I'm just telling it like it is. Don't think I'm on the bandwagon. Respect is worthily deserved.

PATRIOTS ARE CHEATERS!

its simple!

If any team did what the Patriots did whether it was ~ pop warner ~ high school or college then that team would have Forfeited each game and ALL CHAMPIONSHIPS!

This is so simple it's not even funny!

PATRIOTS SUPERBOWLS MEAN NOTHING!
