Josh Q. Public:The best thing about the future is that it only comes one day at a time. -Abraham Lincoln
Public Service Announcement: OK, here we go! You say they haven’t played anybody yet. You say they’re beating up the sisters of the poor. You say they’re not as good as their record. Well here we are. Put up or shut up time. Tonight’s the night. Tonight’s the night we’re gonna make it happen. Tonight we’ll put all other things aside. Tonight the Boston Celtics play the Deetroit Pistons. And I can’t wait. Like my main man Jack London always says: “You can’t wait for inspiration. You have to go after it with a club.” The number one team in the East has to go after the number two team in the East with a club. Make no mistake, this is a test. A real test. For the next forty-eight minutes this team will conduct a test of the National Basketball Association. The Deetroit Pistons have won 50 or more games in six straight seasons. The Deetroit Pistons have made five straight trips to the conference finals. The Deetroit Pistons may just have the best starting five in the league. A win tonight would give the Celtics the best start in franchise history and the third-best in NBA history. Yes, sports fans, tonight’s the night. It’s gonna be all right. Ain’t nobody gonna stop us now. Not in our house. Not in the middle of the street. Not in our castle and our keep. Not where the Celtics are undefeated. But tonight is just the beginning. Tonight is just the start. Tonight starts a stretch in which the Celtics play seven of ten games against teams that can be called contenders. You don’t understand. I coulda had class. I coulda been a contender. I coulda been somebody, instead of a bum, which is what I am. Which is what they were. The times they are a changing. So, it will be Deetroit. It will be Thunder Dwight Howard and the Magic. Thunder, putting up thirty-point, fifteen-rebound games seemingly every night. Then the C’s hit the road. Hit the road Jack and don’t you come back no more, no more, no more, no more. On the road they will face the Utah Jazz. Then they will face the reborn Lakers. Forcing themselves into the Western Conference elite. They will face Yao and the Rockets. Then its drizzle, drazzle, dradle, drone. Time for this one to come home. Time to come back home for another match-up with the Deetroit Pistons. Then we’ll see what’s what. Then we’ll see where this team stands. This is make or break time. This is the stuff legends are made. The time is here. The time is now!

Nicely done Josh. I'll say the Celtics win this one. They're at home, and like you said, they're sick of people telling them they haven't beaten anyone decent yet.
So let's say: Celtics 92, Pistons 87. Maxiell will throw down a nasty dunk on someone though.
And don't forget dizzle, dazzle, dizzle fo shizzle baby.
I'm happy for the CELTICS and I knew they would be good especially the bench. That's why I ranked BOSTON #2 in my preseason power rankings blog way back in OCTOBER and EVERYONE called me a crazy #### who knew nothing about basketball.
Guess who's laughing now.
Anyway, the real test for BOSTON isn't DETROIT because we all know how soft DETROIT has been since BEN WALLACE skipped town.
The real gauge on the CELTICS' perceived greatness will be when the play the mighty SPURS w/ a full squad, the run-n-gun PHX SUNS, the efficient UTAH JAZZ, the San Antonio-like DALLAS MAVS, and the revitalized LA LAKERS in LA.
Of course, what everyone wants including EMPEROR STERN is LA-BOS in the FINALS and it will happen soon, maybe even this year.
CALL me CRAZY and DELUSIONAL now, but sooner or later people will know what's up.
They're already starting to see that with my LAKERS, who I've been pumping up since SHAQ left for MIA.
You're still hearing KOBE to CHI but there's a HUGE difference between rumor and fact.
And the fact of the matter is, as long as LA is contending and as long as PHIL is locked up for the next 2-3 years, KOBE is a LAKER and nothing else.
The window is two years for KOBE. If the Lakers make it to the FINALS within this timeframe, then BUSS will extend KOBE for the rest of his playing career.
When it comes to players who work hard and earn their keep, BUSS is as loyal and rewarding as a GERMAN SHEPHERD DOG.
Imagine if this was GAME 7 of the EAST FINALS and young T. Allen's mistake in judgment by being put in the popcorn machine by the vet Billups cost them the series.
Lesson learned by the Boston Celtics in that there is no replacement for big game experience in this league.
The Celtics are solid at 20-3. They are good. They may win the EAST. But they still haven't played enough big games together (like the current Lakers' nucleus) to be considered a major threat against more battle-tested teams like SA, PHX, DAL, DET, and LAL.
And they certainly are not yet DYNASTY MATERIAL. Just look at what happened to the 2004 LAKERS which, ironically, this same Detroit group put away in five.
For Boston, the time is not now but rather between April-June.

I'm glad that Boston is back in the game. And the Lakers are back. They beat the suns and destroyed Utah. I won't count the win against the spurs because without Duncan and Parker, It doesn't count. Well, we will see on Sunday. I wanted to get Garnett in LA but that probably wouldn’t be good for the game. Like having Bird on the Lakers in the 80's. When LA had 5 rings and 8 west titles and Boston had 3 rings and 5 east titles in 10 years. Here's to old rivalries. Good luck Boston.
