I was going to write a piece on Kobe. I changed my mind. But when researching, I found this:
Ray Allen, 2004:
"If Kobe doesn't see he needs two and a half good players to be a legitimate playoff contender or win a championship in about a year or two he'll be calling out to Jerry Buss that 'We need some help in here,' or 'Trade me. And we'll all be saying, 'I told you so,' when he says that."
I used that quote in response to a post when Kobe first talked of being traded. Ray Allen and his infinite amount of wisdom. I thought it was funny then and hilarious now.
Scary title there, JQP.
Knowing your sick and twisted sense of humor, I thought you had a picture of Ray ON Kobe.
Blech.
Sox 2, Rockies 0-zip-squadoosh, squat, null, buh-bye, busted, nada.
Who cares what Ray Allen said. I've seen this quote pop up ever since Kobe said he wanted out. Ray Allen is a whiny loser who is jealous that his two most hated players, Iverson and Kobe have seen the NBA Finals and he has never led a team anywhere. OF COURSE it takes more than one player to make the finals. Kobe never said that he could win the title on his own. The Lakers promised him help and then didn't deliver. So now he wants help. Do you think that Miami is happy with having to pay Shaq 20 mill for a 35-40 game season? Of course not. The decision to get rid of Shaq was a business move period. Ray Allen's comments were just more Kobe hating. A player who spends four years in college to get ready for the leauge is always gonna be jealous o####uy who comes straight out of high school and is subsequently considered a better player than the college grad. Ray Allen has always been a hater and a loser and Boston cannot win a ring for the simple reason that they have Allen on their team. He's like Ewing, Barkley and many others who talk a good game but don't have the numbers or the titles to back up their mouths.
ha ha ha! nice spin. it happened, right? just like he said, right? while kobe's pouting and destroying his team, ray ray will be playing for a chance at the title.
What has happened in LA shouldn't be a surprise to anyone. Sure isn't to me. The West is stacked and LA took a step back. Say what you want about Shaq but when he plays he makes his team better, period. Not one player on LA besides Kobe can say that. Shaq's salary makes more sense than Radmanovic's.
dan- i couldnt have said it better. now i hate kobe but with him or without him the lakers have to do something. you are right, they cannot compete with what they have.
Curlymo, I don't think it was jealousy for Allen to say that, I think he was just recognizing stupidity when he saw it. Kobe should have insisted that Shaq stayed before he signed.
