just look at guys like Deron Williams, Monta Ellis (if he counts as a PG), Jarrett Jack, Baron Davis, Andre Miller, Jason Terry, Gilbert Arenas, and Luke Ridnour. PGs who did just fine in their second year after not starting their rookie year. Rondo has as much talent as any of those guys. And he's a pass 1st guy.
they cant go far in the playoffs defense wins championships and teams can use single team on them
Why will they lose to the Bulls?
Hinrich is a 2nd team all defensive player, and sefolosha will be good as well(holds kobe to 19pts and 6-19shooting or so, and stopped dwyane wade)
so basically allen will be cooled
deng is the pierce stopper, dont believe me look at the stats pierce has like 3-17 and 2-14 games shooting
a rotation of wallace, noah, tyrus will do good on kg
Why will they lose to the Pistons?
Sheed will slow KG, Prince is a great defender and can guard pierce, billups on ray allen
Why will the Heat win? noone on the celtics plays defense and wont be able to stop shaq and flash
why will they lose to the cavs? cavs are a top 5 defensive team and noone will be able to guard lebron
Really, he just needs a mediocre jumper and the Celts will be alright. He's not going to be a 3PT threat yet, but if he's decent from a little over free throw range, they'll be ok (think Tony Parker a few years ago, but infinitely better defensively and not quite as good a finisher).
Phil, do you realiye that Rondo is one of the best defensive guards in the league already? Defense was his trademark in college, and despite not playing a ton of minutes, he got a lot of recognition for his defense as a rookie last year (John Hollinger even had him as the second best defensive point guard).
A lot depends on the development of Rondo and the health of the veterans, but I think that if the Celts enter the playoffs completely healthy (pretty big "if") they'll be the most feared team in the East.
their weakness will be shown come playoff time
deng will take pierce down, gordon or hinrich will score lights out and the bench will destroy the celts bench
I wrote a post this morning telling why the Celtics will be fine. You can't stop all three at one time no matter what lil phil thinks. If KG could be shut down, then why does he average 20, 10. He is very hard to guard, and Rondo doesn't need to hit threes with Pierce and Allen knocking them down. They just need a few bodies on the court to round out the team.
They could use an Oberto like the Spurs had last year, or pick up some other European player. They are out there.
im not worried either socal. now that they have a team that can win, veterans will be more likely to come for a little less money. and you know what it doesnt matter. this is a darn good ballclub no matter what the naysayers nay say
hey Josh! Some of these comments are just crazy! ;)
First of all, Rondo doesn't have to shoot AND he doesn't even have to be that good of a passer!! He will have 3 options spread out at any place on the court. He also has the option of penetrate and log to KG or kick back to Pierce or Allen. PULEEEZ people!! Ya'll need to come to Kentucky for a while and learn your basketball! ;)~ J/K
You will see a major improvement in Rondo's play. Although a PG is important you don't HAVE to have a great PG to win in the NBA. With the "trio" Boston only needs a good one. Rondo is much more than good.
I can't wait to laugh at non-believers and trust me, I am gonna laugh at ya!!
Picture is worth a thousand words Josh and you said PLENTY here!
hey bgl, i though you might like this one. and how clutch is this kid. how many buzzer beaters did he nail for you guys down there in his college days. it seemed like almost every night. the future is now!
ok..that guy with the really long name needs to do his homework before he comes to class. First off, if the celts had a great pg, their starting lineup would be representing the east at the allstar game. With the big 3 on the floor, all Rondo has to be able to do is dribble and breathe at the same time. Im completely with Josh on this one. Your mentally challenged if you dont think Rondo and the "healthy" C's tear up the east.
