Celtics: Repaving the Road to Glory
Jul 30, 2007 | 9:06AM | report this

Josh Q. Public:  I got so much trouble on my mind.  I refuse to lose.  Here’s your ticket.  Hear the drummer get wicked.  -Public Enemy

Public Service Announcement:  OK, here we go!  What’s crack-a-lacking sports fans?  The Big Ticket to the Boston Celtics!  That’s what!  Gray skies are gonna clear up, put on a happy face.  Brush off the clouds and cheer up, put on a happy face.  Yes put on a happy face Celtics’ Nation.  The Truth.  The Big Ticket.  Jesus Shuttleworth.  Can you say Hot Lantic Champions?  Can you say NBA Eastern Conference Champions?  Can you say NBA Champions?  I can.  And now, so can the Boston Celtics.  If this trade finally comes to fruition, the Celtics will be a force to be reckoned with.  A force to be wreckin’ with.  I wreck shop, now pull your leg I beg your pardon.  And rock a wicked rhyme like eighty-six at the Garden.  We wreck shop, you know we wreck shop.  You know we know we know we wreck shop.  The Celtics will be wreckin’ shop all right.  Now, don’t get me wrong, I love Big Al.  I hate to see him go.  I really do.  Twenty-two years old and nothing but up side.  Upside out the backside.  But we’re talking KG here.  The Big Ticket.  We’re talking about winning now.  Serenity now!  And as they say, a ring in the hand is worth two in the bush.  Paul Pierce, the most unsung baller in the league today, finally gets a stud to play alongside with.  Ray Ray to boot?  Fuhgettaboutit!  Last year, before all the injuries, the Celtics were atop the Hot ‘Lantic.  This year, with Garnett, they will be atop the NBA.  On top of the world looking down on creation.  Russell, Cousy and HeinsonCowens, Havlicek and Jo-JoBird, Mchale and Parrish.  Now, Pierce, Allen and Garnett.  Sing it with me ####es, follow the bouncing ball:  Happy days are here again.  The skies above are clear again.  So let’s sing a song of cheer again.  Happy days are here again!

Dude, here's the bottom line.

If the C's land Garnett and boast him, Allen and Pierce on their roster, I hereby proclaim them Eastern Conference Champions.

I'm just gonna sit around here and wait until someone says Kidd, Jefferson and Carter.

I'll then politely ask him to put down his crackpipe.

Seriously, I'm trying to recall a better #### ever (Jenna Jameson videos notwithstanding). Those three are surefire HOFers.

I am a Celtics fan and this trade really excites me. However, Reverend, I disagree with your assessment that these guys are Hall of Fame players. They are good players will decent numbers who do not belong in the Hall.

golf i have to disagree. all three of those cats have a shot. and if they do win a ring. that changes things alot more.

A ring would definitely help their cases. But I am not sure that they have put up good enough numbers to justify getting into the Hall.

hogfan..Joe Johnson's ego wouldn't allow him to play with Pierce. He didn't want to share any headlines with the Suns.

all of you crack pipe smokers who think KG is not a hall of famer, check the stats. This last season he passed Bird for seasons with 10+ rebs, 2o+ points and 5 assists. Paul and Ray are going to end up in the hall, but if KG retired now, he would be a lock. Period. How many HOF's are in the hall withoug a ring? KG IS A LOCK! Karl Malone never one a ring, and he is no where close to KG's skills. Do some research before you speak. And Bill Russell himself said that Ticket plays defense like he did. That has to have some merit -9 years all NBA defensive team, 10 time allstar, and the only one who gives Duncan fits.

I for one won't be ultimately believing of this until it's been signed sealed and delivered. As the Celtics have been known to screw things up. As for Ainge if he manages to pull this off then he'll be given the keys to city of Boston.

The Suns and Celtics Finals will be awesome to watch next season. The C's when from mediocre to the Cream of the East with one trade. That's incredible. On the other side of the token, Minnesota is going to be unbelievable in about five years. Al Jefferson is that good.

Now C's fans officially stop complaining about the draft!

Josh, adding Garnett immediately vaults the Celtics back into the upper Tier of the Eastern Conference. And with a little luck and a green clover, a spot into the finals next season. But the Celtics don't stand a chance at beating any of the Western Conference teams for a title - one which KG so vehemently covets!

Ok, since JPQ posted, numerous sources are quoting JQP with Mr. KG coming to Beantown!

"This is incredulous."

The downtrodden Celtics Nation may be a top dog in 07-08.

Now to read the comments from the lovers and jealous haters.

C's depth chart.......
--------------------

C--garnett, perkins

PF--big baby, scalabrine

SF--PP, Powe, Wallace

SG-Allen, Pruitt

PG--rondo, tony allen

you got the big 3 studs, and a bunch of youngsters greener than their jerseys.

please point to 2 players on that roster who play any defense?

i hope those old guys have lotsa run left in those legs, because the bench looks thin.

should be interesting.

if the C's are going to do it, they better do it this year then.

KG will opt out after the season, since he has said all along he doesnt want to play in boston.

ray allen (as much as i like him) is 33, has 2 bad ankles, and plays steve nash defense.

can pierce stay healthy for a change?

who else are they going to have left if they trade half the roster for KG?

how many draft picks will they have traded away if they package 1 for KG? like i said, if they're gonna win, they better do it this year. then they'll be in the same boat as the lakers.

bos has a sick big 3

they should do big things if rays ankles can hold up PP elbow dose not act up again

im not too worried about kg, but like roosta said they don't have any depth

but wow they better win giving up gomes, green and big al with them picks

josh--before you ask i'm rooster.

and i didn't say that the new look celts suck. i'm just not sure i'd waste too much energy planning that beantown victory parade just yet.

07 numbers?

garnett 76 games wolves 32 wins.

allen 55 games sonics 31 wins. (that means 27 wins with allen in the lineup to be a 500 team)

don't have the numbers in front of me.

PP 47 games celts 24 wins. (same scenerio as above w/ allen)
___________

(point being neither the celts, nor sonics were a winning team with allen, and pierce in their respective lineups)
_____________________

obviously these 3 guys are monster talents. $60 mil in salary worth of talents. but i don't see how all this losing adds up to winning just by putting these guys in the same color jersey.

if you are talking about rolling with the roster a few comments up, the celts will have no depth. none.

i hope for your sake you are as excited next july as you are about the celts lineup this july.

i still don't see how ray allen being taken off the dribble on one wing, and paul pierce being taken off the dribble on the other wing is going to work out either, but hey, what do i know?

Wow. Josh since the Celtics got hosed in the bouncy ball NBA draft, they have made themselves legitimate contenders. With what is now, one of the best 3 man rotations in Allen, Pierce, and Garnett, this team is immediately contenders. To me, that is a better 3some than what the Spurs have. They still have a BIG question mark though. WHO will play the point? No doubt this team is NOW an immediate impact in the East. Best of luck next year. But, I really don't think you will need it. Find a plausible point guard, and this IS the team to beat in the East.

why does everybody think this is GOOD???

The celts are giving up their future for a 2 year window to win it all, not worth it.
