Jesus Shuttleworth? I Like It!
Jun 29, 2007 | 4:31AM | report this

Josh Q. Public:  It might feel good, it might sound a little somethin’, but damn the game if it don’t mean nothin’.  -Public Enemy

Public Service Announcement:  OK, here we go!  Hey you gabronies, do you smell what the Celts is cookin’?  Sure smells good.  Ooooh that smell.  Can’t you smell that smell?  Smells like playoffs baby, playoffs.  Ray Allen.  The rootinest tootinest shootinest guard in the West East.  The best jump shootinest guard in  basketball.  Jump shooting threes at forty percent clip.  I was shining my nine, you know how I do.  I got a fully loaded clip, I be on that ####  Ray Ray be on that ####  Seven time All-Star who just fills it up.  Kills it up.  Thrills it up.  Thrilled it up for fifty-four last year against the Utah Jazz.  Thrilled it up two years ago putting himself in second place on the NBA’s list of all-time three-point field goals made in a game.  Thrilled it up again in ‘06 breaking Dennis Scott’s ten-year-old NBA record for three-point field goals in a season by sinking 268.  Thrilled it up in ‘01 by becoming the NBA All-Star Weekend Three-point Shootout champion.  Did I mention this cat can shoot.  His shot poetry in motion.  Mmm, but it’s poetry in motion.  And when she turned her eyes to me.  As deep as any ocean.  As sweet as any harmony.  He’ll be playing in harmony with Big Al and the Truth.  With Sugar Ray, Big Al and the Truth, the Celtics are going to score some points.  A plethora of points.  A plentitude of points.  A profusion of points.  Preposterous points.  More points than you can shake a stick at.  More fun than a barrel of ####.  Roll out the barrel.  We’ll have a barrel of fun.  Roll out the barrel, we’ve got the blues on the run.  Yup, we got the blues on the run all right.  On a playoff run.  And the fact that Theo Huxtable Ratliff’s expiring contract is still on the books tells me they ain’t done yet.  She looked at me with them brown eyes and said:  You ain’t seen nothin’ yet.  B-B-B-Baby, you just ain’t seen n-n-n-nothin’ yet.  Here’s something that you’re never gonna forget.  B-B-B-Baby, you just ain’t seen n-n-n-nothin’ yet.  The Boston Celtics, repaving the path to glory.

i can't wait to hear the play by play when allen ray is running the point and ray allen is coming of screens on the wing.

ray to allen, back to ray, dribble pull up finds allen in the corner.........it's good, as the celtics pull to within 16.

I was surprised that not that many people thought this was a good move.

Bottom line is Pierce needed the help. And the Celtics had to make a move. They now have two of the league's premier scorers.

If this team doesn't make the playoffs next year, look for Doc Rivers to rejoin the TNT broadcast booth on the sidelines once again.

Great pickup by the celtics, I've always liked Allen, great shooter, but shouldn't Boston be looking more toward a defensive player? They didn't have a problem scoring did they, I thought Bostons probs were mainly defensive oriented.

I thought the Sonics were idiotic for trading Ray Allen. I like the Jesus Shuttlesworth reference. That's a good movie.

Durant will be a star, but building an entire team around him? Might be a mistake. By trading Allen, I definitely think they're moving out of Seattle very soon.

I like Ray Allen. Smooth as silk. I'm not sure that it will translate to a good basketball team and he sure isn't getting any younger...but I like Ray Allen.

Oh did I say that already?

As for positivity, I try that occasionally myself. Being a Knicks fans I say you can never have enough "big guys" on a team that can get you 20 and 10 a night. Now Da Brickerbockers have two.

I would take Allen over Yi too. Paul Pierce has some much needed talent in RA.

Best of luck to your team.

It'll be good if his ankles hold out. Do you think he'll stay healthy? I want to see the Celts get back in the game big-time.

I miss the old Garden. I had a bad feeling when they tore it down. I'm sure they would have been better over the years if they still played there:) Nothing like a little help from the ghosts of the past.

My Celts made the right move.
Why take one of those Green Lizard Florida players who haven't proven themselves as pros!
Now we can shout for joy a little more often.

Yi-ikes is a project player.
Kohler is looking to sell him back to the Chinese Basketball team in a year. It's a balance of trade thing.

Josh, I just wonder why you think a double broke ankle, 32 yr old Allen is a better move than drafting somebody young for the long haul? I think him and Pierce will end up squabbling over the rock. And as a diehard 76ers fan (R.I.P.), I'd like to see both franchises return to their former glory.

sls- agreed

ed- the celtics are a very very young team. now they have scorer mto compliment paul. give the younger guys some time to develop. plus ray allen is a great guy to have in the club house. and, i dont think the c's are done yet. but time will tell

Ed- They needed to make a move to help P34. He is a vet, and they made a right now move, not a future move. It will give their youngters expierience, time to develope and by the time their ready to carry the team, Ray and Pierce will be gone. So it works out either way because the youngsters can be something special.

Sidenote - Ainge needs to go whether this improves them or not. He is the cancer of the team.

Josh: You know, of course, that the reason that the M's swept the Sox last weekend is because of the hijacking of Ray Ray, right?
