Kyle Busch Is definitly tearing up the tracks this season and got his 6th win of the season this weekend at Daytona.
So will he be the best ever ? Where does he rank amongst drivers with wins in a season? Here are his carrer stats Career Stats >.
Lets compare him to a couple and see if hes just a flash in the pan or can we place his name besides some of the best Nascar has to offer Some of these drivers have won The championship in Nascar and have had bad years after could this happen to K.Busch?
First lets compare him to Jimmy Johnson here are his carrer stats Career Stats > with 8 wins in 2004 and 10 in 2007 K.Busch is still yet to match these numbers.
Now lets compare him with Jeff Gordon here are Jeff Gordons carrer stats Career Stats >with 10 wins in 1996 and 1997 and 13 in 1998.
Dale Jr. Career Stats > has 18 wins since starting and 6 in 2004.
Tony Stewart his only 6 win season was in 2000 Career Stats >But he does have a championship under his belt.
Now im not going to go back to Former drivers just active ones to be fair.
So is Kyle Busch the real deal or just having a great season?
I guess time will tell and Im not handing him the trophy for this season just yet Its not over by a long shot
It's awfully hard to judge on just a season or two if a driver can be ranked among the best, in my opinion, let alone half of a season, lol.
But if Kyle Busch continues this throughout his career he'll defidently be among the top-10 best in my book, but I think for now we should wait about 8 years, lol.
tyler-- Im just asking because there are some who have already givin him the title I just wanted oppinions and yours is a very good one thanks for the visit.
I agree with Tyler. It will take years before we know that. For anyone to be considered the best, he would have to win multiple championships. Kyle doesn't have any....yet.
But since he started racing full time in the Cup series, 3 1/2 years, only three drivers have more wins than Kyle. Jonson, J Gordon, and Stewart. Not bad company to be in.
Hanahan--Before this season he only had a total of four wins in 2 1/2 seasons makes you wonder dosnt it ? how can he get so much better just by switching teams unless his new team has Toyota I know other drivers have Toyotas also but theres something fishy with his I do believe..I think its just a big ol' conspiricy to keep Jr. from winning a championship..LMAO
He has to win a multiple championships AND win at least 50 races to even be considered as one of the best ever. Jeff Gordon is the only active driver in that category. Johnson may well get to that point. Tony Stewart? Don't think he will be aroung long enough. Jr.? Don't think he will ever get to at least 50 wins, either. Shrub might win a couple of trophies and 30+ wins. But don't think he will ever get to 50, unless he races into his 40's.
A driver has to literally dominate their series for multiple seasons to be considered as the best. Don't think we will see anyone in the immediate future that will do that. Too many very good drivers and too many really good teams.
Joker,
I have to also agree with Tyler. One season doesn't exactly make him a HOF racer in my honest opinion. I do however have to agree with Hanahan as well. That's some pretty impressive company he's with in wins over 3 1/2 seasons.
p.s. Checkout my latest post and come join in on the fun. It's under the NFL section.
People are really talking that way? I think it's premature.
There's so many variables in NASCAR, it seems hard to dominate. I haven't watch in awhile, but Dudski's fantasy league was my intro to fantasy sports. It was pretty cool, but one hella long season (much like tennis & golf).
MC-Yeah some people make it sound as if he can walk on water, Im just getting oppinions on where he might end up after all is said and done..thanks for the visit.
For now, Kyle is the best NASCAR has to offer. 6 wins in half a season. It can easily be eclipsed by a new up comming driver from the NW series if given a car that can win or by a former champion if he can get his kinks worked out in his car.
It will be interesting what the Chevys can do when the teams switch over to the more powerfull engines.
The fishy part. No Fear, Nitros Oxide ( maybe), and skill.
Talk about how to get blog comments? Title your post "Will Kyle be the best ever" If you took the title "Why Kyle is the best ever" youd have 18 pages already..... But seriously, Im with Lori..He just got out of his Moms basement...
I had heard that HMS has the new Chevy engines equal to the Toyotas or better. He states they haven't used them yet due to fuel mileage (gas guzzlers)but are planning to start using them soon. ( for the chase I imagine)
photo- Just how much mileage are they losing? And don't you think they should switch to that engine a few races before the Chase so any kinks are worked out before a championship is on the line?
Until NASCAR allows the other manufacturers to submit a new block design as Toyota did, we won't know if its Kyle, or if the advantage of more powerful and efficient engines play that much of a factor. I think he'll be a very good driver, but never a great one.
He didn't do all that much with Hendricks when Hendricks engines were that far ahead of everyone, so until he does it with the same tools as others, its way too early to consider him great.
I think Kyle is the real deal. And I will not be surprised to see him win a championship this year or in the next couple of years.
This kid if he keeps his head on straight and stays with Gibbs Racing. He very well might surpass Jeff Gordon's 4 championships. I would not be surprised to see this kid tie Petty's and Earnhardt's record of 7 championships before his career is over.
Way too soon to tell. Don't forget that there was a time in the not so distant past when it appeared that Gordon was going to own the sport for decades.
JW- I guess I jumped in here a little late. I have to agree with those who said he needs more time to start to compare. I wrote a small post about this earlier in the year. Until he at least wins one championship. How can he be compared with the active champions. eg: Jimmie, Jeff, Stewart.
Stewart, Gordon and Johnson have more wins than Kyle.. true, but that doesnt make kyle in the same company. What about Jmac? they have more wins than him too, so is he in the same company?
That was one of hanahans bs comments, it doesnt even make sense. "oh jeff and jimmie and stewart have a total of 8 championships..add kyles 0 and its still 8. Oh but what a foursome they are huh?" lol.
I have said this before and will say it again. This COT car can take some ban g ing. A few races the Kid drove from the back of the pack to the front scraping the walls etc almost wiping out and he saved it. The old model he car would ahve not held up after scraping the wall the first time.
I know Hanahan he is winning in Nationwide and that team is just on fire. I can't say about the truck team cause I can't get them over here. Dale Sr would have loved this car that could take some pou nding and keep going.
Cheers
Bank it! Ever since that pre-race announcer made fun of his ears, he's been on a roll. Who said that anyway? I remember feeling bad for Shrub. Now, he's laughing/wrecking his way to the bank.
Shrub is good..Making him sel####reat place in the history books. Best? Not yet. Will he be? time will tell. I will say no. Compitition will catch him. Look at Hendrick last year to this year.
Remember in 1996. Jeff Gordon won the most races, 10 and Terry Labonte went on to win the championship. So hey anything is possiable. And the chase puts a new rinckle in the mix. Enjoy the race...
Kyle Busch will never be the best ever. He won't beat Jeff Gordon by winning more than 13 races in a season, and he doesn't measure up to Dale Earnhardt. He may be considered one of the bests but not the best.
JOKERSWILD
Out of the mouths of babes sometimes comes words of wisdom. I don't think that we can yet anoint Kyle as the best ever . As his resume' doesn't dictate that fact. Oh sure he's won races and thus far this year he's been consistent. But as we all know the Sprint Cup Series isn't a 100yd dash as it's more akin to a marathon . And we've yet to reach the halfway point. So let's not equate half a season thereof to a lifetime of achievement by others who've done a great deal more. Like you said only time will tell. He could either flame out or end up having a season for the ages and win a championship.
