Its UnderdogI started rooting for the Indians when they where consistant celler dwellers in the A.L. central I used to go to games at the old Municiple Stadium get the nose bleed section tickets and by the 3rd inning I be four ore five rows from the field. "ahh the good ol' days"
I always seem to root for the underdog in every sport,in doing that when they win it makes it so much more enjoyable.
The Chicago Cubs are a prime example of a underdogand when they finally win The World Series all will be right in the world and could you imagine the party that would go down in Chicago- They are the consistant punch line in almost any M.L.B. joke and what is it with the curse of the goat? I don't believe in curses I believe its Karma and They have been on the wrong end of that spectrum for far to long lets see if they will turn things around this season but odds are they won't but I will still be one of the people rooting for them.
And then theres these guys when the N.H.L. came to Columbus Ohio fans where excited but their excitement has faded -As long as they have been in the league they are yet to make a serious run at the playoffs letting their fans down on a regular basis ,season after season .
They have had big name stars and still do and still fail to give the fans what they want a Stanley Cup. But when and if they ever do Its going to be sweet for the fans that hung tough and stayed with their underdog. I also root for the N.J.Devils but I have way before The Blue Jackets came into the N.H.L.
So lets see who else could make this list of teams that remain undisputed underdogs ah yes theres these guys
The Aints as they are often referred to but not by me -they are a team that seem to be Karmas whipping boy and even though normally I root for them that is unless they are playing my teams-- I still secretly hope for them to have success.
So next time you watch your favorite team beating one of these teams remember that one day some way things are going to turn around for these guys Karma will let its guard down and maybe just maybe they will win it all but untill then when things seem they can't get any worse have no fear for Underdog is here.
JW! Excellent. I rooted for the Saints quite a bit when Archie was their QB and still wished they were better when they build that monsterous arena for them, but.....sumthing amiss there.
Same with the Cubbies, 100 years? C'mon with dat. Guess it is just the way of the world, unless you have more money to throw away in an attempt to win a series, a cup or ...... Fuzz
Fuzz I could tell you rooted for the underdog the day you became my freind.lol and it will be that much sweeter when they win I just wonder how many fans will come out of the wood work and claim they where there all along.......JW
If you need a good, no, great punchline, look no futher than my hometown Lions. These guys haven't won a title in over 50 years (in the parity ridden NFL). If only Underdog ran the team instead of Matt Millen! (lol)
I grew up a 49ers fan. Started when Y.A. Tittle QB'd for em. I suffered through the Brodie years as I grew up and then when I was 27 the team sold to Eddie DeBartolo and the rest is history... I moved to Washington in 1987 and then the NFL in all it's wisdom put both my favorite teams, the Niners and the Seahawks in not only the same conference, but into the same division. DeBartolo got drummed out of the corps and my allegiance flew to the Sea Chickens... Still waiting to celebrate with them!
Downsa529 ah yes the mighty Lions you know with all the first round picks they have had you would think they may have turned things around by now and what do you think another first round receiver pick.lol maybe underdog could do a better job thanks for the comments
Dwindy they have been so close lately im starting to wonder if it is Holgram thats holding them back thanks for the kind words and good luck this season.
joker; funny thing? i checked every blog, and sexylips has made the rounds, and does'nt mention anyone by name except once, on my blog. no, not my name, your name buddy, check it out...
My work team was unfortunate enough to HAVE TO go to Cleveland during the 97 World Series. We were bumped from our reserved room reservations(no warning) and found rooms south of Massillion(spelling?) at three different hotels.
We were not happy campers. Thank god for scotch.
The trip hilight was buying a lottery scratch off ticket in the airport on the way home. I scratched it on the plane and was allowed to deplane to collect my $101. I took $100 cash and another ticket. The second ticket cashed too, so they let me off the plane again. This time, some of the flight crew gave me cash to buy them tickets, since I was lucky. One of them cashed.
Every bad experience can have a fun part, if you let it happen.
Sis Thats a great story (thanks for scotch)lol
and I just won 10 on one last night they can be addicting looks like they paid off well for you thanks for the visit I appreciate it
Underage thanks for the kind words and I found myself rooting for the giants last season and I don't know if you could consider the Lakers an underdog this season
When I see "Lips", I think of 'Hot Lips Hoolihan" on the old "MASH" series---If thats the case its "Wrinkled Lips" YUK!!!...But the dentures give "#### Annie" a whole new look and "Underdog" a way different meaning!!!....LOL...Cboy
and i also recall how every year until recent the university of oregon football team was always the underdogs.... seemed like every year end with the record of 2-9!!!!!!!!!
Is Mark Cuban still trying to buy the Cubs? I havnt heard anything on that in awhile, and figure its dead. If he did, the Cubbies would go from underdog to big dog QUICK!!! He has a ton of $$ and dont mind spending it..........By the way.....I heard from a reliable source that "Sweet Lips" wears a beard!!!-BEWARE!! BEWARE!!.........GOOD MORNING WORLD!!!!

Whether it's a goat or the infamous Bartman incident. The Cubs'll always be the Cubs an anathema and enigma to us all. And that's the way that their fans like it. They above everyone else wouldn't want it any other way !
top you may be right but wouldnt it be great if they did do it won it all imagine the feel good story that would be ahh who am I kiiding its never going to happen thanks for the comments..JW
Chk your Fox mail. Damn roids are killing me today. Bitter tummy/screwing my vision around. Part of the side effects I am told. Peeing all the time/damn!!! Least I'm breathing.
Being a Cleveland fan for years automatically caused me to root for the underdog. After all we are talking over 40 years w/out a championship in anything. Name me another city where all the big moments were loses. Red rt 88, The drive, The shot, and not to mention Mesa in WS game 7. Cleveland suffers much more, after all Chi had the Bears and Bulls to tide them over.

Given the choice who'd you rather be supporting da' Cubs or da' Bears ? Bearing in mind that Lovie Smith has staked his reputation with Grossman once again. Think carefully before you respond with an answer.
One'd think that they've both got an upside with regard to their fortunes but that's predicated on what you'd judge success to be for both.
Success for the Cubs is to be considered honorable losers . Whilst for the Bears it's just to see Grossman not fumble or throw an interception.
I am a football fan first and foremost I will root for any team as long as their not playing the Buckeyes and am also a Nascar fan and root for Dale Jr. and Tony Stewart I like humor and jokes and stay away from politics and religion I have a black belt in crowbar and baseball bat .
