Just Once ... Can We Find A Way To Finally Find Victory Lane
Sep 09, 2008 | 9:21AM | report this

I did my best

But I guess my best wasn’t good enough

‘Cause here we are back where we were before

Seems nothing ever changes

We’re back to being strangers

Wondering if we ought to stay or head on out the door

Just once, can we figure out

What we keep doing wrong

Why we never last for very long

What are we doing wrong?

Just once, can’t we find a way to finally make it right

To make the magic last for more than just one night

If we could just get to it

I know we could break through it

I gave my all

But I think my all may have been too much

‘Cause Lord knows, we’re not getting anywhere

Seems we’re always blowing

Whatever we’ve got going

And it seems at times with all we’ve got

We haven’t got a prayer

Just once, can we figure out

What we keep doing wrong

Why the good times never last for long

Where are we going wrong?

Just once, can’t we find a way to finally make it right

To make the magic last for more than just one night

I know we could break through it

If we could just get to it, just once

I want to understand

Why it always comes back to goodbye

Why can’t we get ourselves in hand

And admit to one another

We’re no good without each other?

Take the best and make it better

Find a way to stay together

Just once

Just Once, Can We Finally Find Victory Lane ... Again

Monday Musings - Tony Stewart
Jul 07, 2008 | 1:16PM | report this

Just some updates from Jayski.com:

  • UPS to #07? UPDATE 2: hearing UPS could move #07-Clint Bowyer of Richard Childress Racing, if os, no word where Jack Daniel's sposnorship would go, or if they would leave the sport.(7-1-2008)
UPDATE Among the hot but unconfirmed rumors making the rounds in the Sprint Cup garage this week are that Richard Childress Racing will land UPS as a sponsor for Clint Bowyer’s #07 Chevrolet. Multiple sources indicated that Bowyer’s car was the favorite to take the sponsorship over from Michael Waltrip Racing and David Reutimann. One source close to the negotiations said RCR initially offered UPS #31-Jeff Burton, 41, but the delivery company wanted a younger driver with whom it could create a long-term identity and Bowyer is just 29. Burton, instead, will be sponsored next year by Caterpillar.(
    SPEEDtv)(7-6-2008)
UPDATE 2: Sirius Speedway has learned that UPS will move from Michael Waltrip Racing’s #44 Toyota to the quarterpanels of Clint Bowyer’s #07 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet in 2009, leaving Jack Daniels in search of a new driver. That driver will be Ruan Newman, who is set to sign-on with Stewart at Haas CNC.(

  • Office Depot to Stewart UPDATE and Newman and Jack Daniels: been told that Office Depot will be the sponsor for Tony Stewart in 2009 when he drives for Haas CNC Racing which is will buy in to. Hearing the announcement of the buy and deal will be made in Indianapolis the week NASCAR is in Indy for the Allstate 400 at the Brickyard, July 27th.(7-3-2008)
UPDATE: Tony Stewart is expected to announce a 2009 move to Haas-CNC Racing at Indianapolis Motor Speedway in three weeks. Reliable sources tell
Sirius Speedway that Stewart will also announce sponsorship from Office Depot and Old ####e as part of a new, multi-year package with Haas CNC, and that Penske Racing’s Ryan Newman will join him as a teammate, with sponsorship from Jack Daniels. That surprise move comes as the result of an enviable situation at Richard Childress Racing, which now has five potential sponsors for next season, and only four teams. Sirius Speedway has learned that UPS will move from Michael Waltrip Racing’s #44 Toyota to the quarterpanels of Clint Bowyer’s #07 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet in 2009, leaving Jack Daniels in search of a new driver. That driver will be Newman, who is set to sign-on with Stewart at Haas CNC.(Sirius NASCAR Radio's Sirius Speedway)(7-7-2008)

    Time To Wax Smoke
    Sep 26, 2007 | 9:07AM | report this

YES, YOU HEARD ME RIGHT, TONY STEWART HAS AGREED TO WAX HIS CHEST AND BACK IF $100,000.00 IS RAISED FOR THE VICTORY JUNCTION GANG CAMP!

I don't know if you all have been watching over the last several weeks as Tony's hair has gotten longer.  And by longer, I mean everywhere.  His head, face, etc.  He does need some serious waxing and grooming!

Back to the story.  There seems to be a huge charity-benefiting bet between Happy Harvick and Smoke that started back at the Daytona 500 in February 2007.

Smoke was quoted by www.WaxTony.com as saying, "I've made a deal that if somebody will raise $100,000 for the Victory Junction Gang Camp - that's Kyle Petty's charity for children with life-threatening illnesses - I'll wax my chest and back.  NASCAR driver Kevin Harvick says he's going to raise the money and be there to witness the pain, because I'm like a Chia Pet on steroids.  I mean, I make Chew-bacca look bald."

For a great visual, please see Forensic2's picture of Tony/Chewbacca here.

    The story from www.jayski.com:

"Latest amount raised as of 8-29-2007: $36,186.00.

During the Daytona 500 pre-race show, Tony Stewart held up a photograph of Ronald McDonald that had been altered so it appeared that Kevin Harvick was wearing Ronald's suit.

Now, those of you who are familiar with Kevin know that he does not let a practical joke go unanswered. So here is Kevin's retort:

Kevin's new colors may indeed be similar to those of Ronald McDonald, but have you seen Tony Stewart's chest and back? Because Tony is such a great guy, he has offered up a solution to his follicle issues.

Tony said on his SIRIUS satellite radio show, Tony Stewart Live, that if someone would raise $100,000 for charity, he would wax his chest and back. Who are we to pass up an offer like that? Call it "revenge for the Ronald McDonald photo," call it a great opportunity to raise money for Victory Junction Gang Camp or just call it plain funny. (Think Tony will scream like a girl when they rip all that hair out?)

Visit Happy's eSHOP and make your donation. You can donate in increments of $1.00, $5.00, $10.00, $25.00, $50.00 and $100.00. Every penny collected in "Operation: Wax Smoke" will be donated to Victory Junction Gang Camp. We will be accepting donations until we reach our goal.

Tell all your friends, and tell their friends to tell their friends. $100,000 to get us to put Tony Stewart in a salon chair, cover his chest and back with hot wax, place wax strips on it and rrrrip the hairs right out. Good times!

Once we reach our $100,000 goal, and Tony is ready to be waxed, we’ll give you all the details of when and where it is happening."

Wow - good times indeed.  I will be looking for follow-ups on this.  Let's all hope this happens AFTER the end of the Chase this year, or else we might have a Samson & Delilah portrayal in the making!

    HFL
