This comes a week after the Denver Post reported that no one on Denver’s
roster is “untouchable.”
With $81,696,590 on the books for next season, the Nuggets have the league’s
3rd highest payroll. Only $7 million less than the dastardly New York Knicks.
That means owner Stan Kroenke will pay $44 million plus luxury taxes for a team
that won 50 games but was dispatched in four games by the Los Angeles
Lakers.
Dealing Anthony would be a mistake.
Although his scoring average dropped three points this season, he shot a
career-best 49% from the field, 35% from the 3-point line, and grabbed a
career-high 7 rebounds a game.
Instead, it’s time for Nuggets VP Mark Warkentien and player personnel
executive Rex Chapman to take the blame for the trade that brought Allen Iverson
to Denver. [Read]
Carmelo's DUI right before the playoffs was his last straw. This was the sign that he wanted out. He neither cared nor thought about his teammates and the consequences of his actions.
The ramifications were huge; the uninspired Nuggets lacked chemistry and cohesion versus the Lakers. You saw it in his body language that he does not want to play with Iverson.
Then last week, he got pulled over for speeding in Denver adding more insult to injury.
Carmelo will be gone in a moment's notice. And if he goes to NJ for Richard Jefferson and Marcus Williams, the Nuggets will be better off.
If the Nuggets trade Melo and Camby they are just stupid. However if N.J. gains these players they'll be better off with them than a lone Richard Jefferson and whomever is dealt with him.
Hoff, you know if I'm a Nets fan, and let me tell you, I do not want Carmelo Anthony on my team.
If he were REALLY a LEGIT star (he wouldn't have allowed his team to be swept), I'd say, yes, he's worth the baggage. But the truth is, he's not at that elite level, nor is there any guarantee he'll ever get there.
Not worth the drama. The Nets have been a classy organization for a long time. Why ruin it?
I'll take Camby, as well as Kleiza, but the rest can stay.

I love basketball. While many basketball fans enjoy the month of March, I prefer the months of April, May, and June. My favorite team is the Los Angeles Lakers. However, my loyalty to the Lakers will not prevent me from giving my unbiased opinion on each and every team and player in the league. I look forward to productive chats, heated debates, and honest opinions.
