Ok the Steelers get another Vince Lombardi Trophy to add to the collection while the Seahawks are stuck kissing their sister, I mean the George Halas Trophy.
The Steelers get Super Bowl rings and the Seahawks get the NFL equivalant of a cubic zirconia the NFC championship ring (yes they actually have one) which unless your name is Chris Collinsworth you wont be caught dead in.
STEELERS rematch SEAHAWKS in Superbowl XLI is a definate possibility. The storyline line and the eyes of the world would be on the refs to ensure a fairly called game.
Possible? Why not. The Seahawks are the most upbeat superbowl losing team I've ever seen partly because they feel cheated and partly because of good coaching-counseling by Mike Holmgren. This is a man who knows the psychology of both winning and losing Super Bowl teams.
This paragraph(Steeler fans please don't comment) is for the 12th man only. The Seahawks run a pure rythm offense and the only way to beat them is to break their rythm. No excuses, but fact is fact, and the Seahawks compiled almost 400 yards in total offense in Super Bowl XL. Take away a couple of questionable calls and they start flirting with Super Bowl records for total yards gained. The Seahawks moved the ball at will and the Steelers did in no way shape or form other than intimidating Jeremy Stevens take the Seahawks out of their rythm.
The Steelers did win the game however. Even after watching the game again and after convincing myself that the officiating was legitimate I am still amazed at how they managed a victory seeings they were throughly dominated in all areas.
The Steelers did a great New York Yankee impersonation, another team northwest fans have come to hate. During the Mariners run at greatness that spanned almost a decade the Yankess were the one team that always stood in their way. The names in the script changed some; but the story always read the same. The Yankees got the call third strike when our pitchers were just a little bit outside. The stats from the game were irrelavent because you knew when the game was on the line, just as sure as it rains in Seattle, that the nightmare inducing bell was about to ring because the formerly unidentifible man in pin stripes at the plate would soon become a legend off our closers hanging slider.
The Steelers did what good teams do, they took advantage of the breaks they were given. No-one remembers that the preferential treatment NBA stars get from the referees used to be referred to as the Jordan rule. They do however, remember that Michael Jordan won six NBA championships.
The Steelers had key players overcome injuries to play in the game. The Seahawks lost key players due to night club brawl(Ken Hamlin) and injury (Marquand Manuel).
The Steelers made plays down the stretch. The Seahawks saved their worst football of the season for the last half of the fourth quarter of the biggest game of their lives.
I am the biggest Seahawk fan alive (check my posts) and I'll admit, over all, the Steelers played a better game and deserved to win. This one hurt me real bad but I'm ready to start thinking about the draft.
Congratulations Pittsburgh because the Super Bowl is not just one game but a culmanation of what you did over the course of season to put yourself in position to be the champion..
The worst decision that Bill Cowler made in Super Bowl XL was his first. Bill Cowler decided to wear white to Super Bowl XL. Instead of being the villian to crash the big dance wearing black and taking home underclass girls from the prom for some presidential treatment, Bill Cowler decided to wear white. That is Like Al Davis givin the choice between black and pink for his notorious Oakland Raiders deciding to show up to the Super Bowl in lavender.
If your Goliath, be Goliath. Jerome Bettis and the Pittsburgh Steelers are trying to do their best impression of David and it saddens me. Where are the days of the best team walking in to Super Bowl week and proclaiming to be the best.
Where is the villian? Like the Cowboys or 49ers or Patriots or what used to be the Pittsburgh Steelers. What happened to the best team knowing it and taking care of business?
Instead of begging to be the under dog what about embracing the fact that you are the favorite.
Bill Cowler decided to wear the road Uniforms a couple of blocks away from Heinz Field like he felt the Steelers did'nt deserve to be there.
Bill Cowler decided to wave the flag and wear white in this game and all I can think of is here comes the bride.
Last week you had my respect and like the rest the nation I rooted for you because of the overwhelming odds that you had to overcome to get to the Super Bowl.
How your fans can go from underdog supporters to smug bullies overnight is beyond me.
How does the fan of a cinderella team have the gall to say a number one seed has no right to be in the big game.
Steeler fans I respect your team. Quit reading your own press because as Steve Smith can attest there is no such thing as a Paper Champ.
NADA doesn't list the (GVWR) Gross Vehicle Weight Ratings for a Jerome Bettis. It should because a lot of media are taking the bus to The Motor City.
Peyton Manning and Steve Smith buckled this season under the weight of carrying wanna be's and former players posing as analysts on their backs. Now they've jumped on the bus. If you thought you saw a lot of Steve Smith well watchout cause over the next two weeks Jerome Bettis is going to register a Nielsen rating.
The Pittsburgh Steelers now have a new challenge. One that cannot be overlooked. They are missing something and they won't be able to get it back. Sadly for the Steelers they've lost it when they need it most.
No one believed in us but us... We'll probably still think were underdogs... and if noone else believes in us thats fine.
Ben Roethlisberger
There are no probably's in life or in football Ben. The Dynamic has changed. No Ben, you have to do something the Seahawks did the last two weeks and something you, according to Bill Cowler, couldn't do last year. Win, when you are expected to win. Every analysts picked Pittsburgh to win ten minutes after the NFC championship game ended. No research, no injury report. More than one Vegas odds maker has publicly stated that they made Pittsburgh 4-point favorites before the Seattle game even ended. About sixty-five percent of online voting is picking Pittsburgh. So Ben Roethlisberger you are probably not the underdog.
Seahawks fans don't fret we get no respect. By last count underdogs are 6-4 in the playoffs and two of those four wins were by the Seahawks. I'm just curious how the Steelers perform in Detroit without their nice warm cozy undaroos. It sure is chilly in Detroit this time of year.
