A's to the Q's, Racing Edition
Oct 07, 2008 | 2:49PM | report this

Are you looking for the straight truth after a wild Talladega weekend? Can you handle the truth? Are you on, or off your meds? Ok, then, if you insist, here comes the d-low....

Q.  Why didn't Kyle Busch wreck like Greg Biffle did when Kyle got pushed slideways in turn 4 in the truck race?

A.  Because he's a better driver, or maybe Bodine is a better drafter than Carl Edwards.

Q.  Why did the 99 team use that strange pit stratedgy?

A.  They didn't want some #### to ruin their chances for a good finish. It was a great plan. No other driver got a chance to ruin their day.

Q.  If Dale Jr. had of passed Stewart below the line coming to the checkered flag, who would have won?

A.  I think everyone knows the answer to that one, and the readers that don't know need to go to AA and do some research on a little something called 'denial'.

Q.  How many different explanations did NASCAR give about passing below the line on the last lap?

A.  About as many as there were different excuses of why Ken Shamrock pulled out of his MMA bout with Kimbo Slice Saturday night.

Q.  Why aren't the teams ####ing about the Goodyear blowouts?

A.  NASCAR issued their Goodyear gag order. Some apple polishers, like Mike Waltrip, are trying to blame it on debris and hard bump drafting. Those two things don't cause the loud, canon-like booms, like the blowouts did last weekend.

Q.  Any word on Goodyear's Indy tire test this week?

A.  I hear that they have doubled the tire wear, and can now go 20 laps before failure.

Q.  Where has Hanahan been? Can he only dish it out, and not take it? Is he hiding because Kyle Busch is having a miserable Chase run? Is he scared?

A.  That's four questions there, bud. But in order...Han is working on a top secret project which doesn't allow him to sit at a desk and play around on his computer all day anymore. He can take it. he just doesn't have a lot of time to answer the trolls right now. No, he wishes he could inject more of his sharp wit and brilliance on these NASCAR pages. Scared? Maybe of your mother, but certainly not of anyone on these blogs. Well, maybe of HR13, a little.

NASCAR probably would have declared Dale Jr. winner if he were in Regan Smith's place. They just wanted Smoke to get to victory lane. Goodyear has some work to do this week and will have even more work during the offseason. There will be lots of thought on whether Goodyear is the right company for us.
PS- I missed your edition of RSO this past week.

Good Questions and better answers H! It is sure fun to be an outsider looking in at FRANCECAR...I mean NASCAR!

PS I'm buying a round at Frothy's if Niguey dances in my lap!

Don't get me wrong this race was a comedy of errors from start to finish. But without those errors we wouldn't be debating why's and wherefor's as to what transpired.
To my mind it now adds to the excitement of the ensuing postseason. Smoke' was right in his assertion that this thing isn't yet over !

See the link provided below to my most recent pieces. Let me know what you think as to the merits of the pieces in question ? As always I'll look forward to reading your comments. Just click on the text to view.

A few random thoughts from a Nascar newby inspired by this blog ....

What is the "d-low"? Is that the 88 car passing below the yellow line? If so, I really don't want to read about that.

Actually I like the 88 car, I'm able to cut and paste the same comment for each race. "The 88 car could've won the race if not for (a) bad luck (b) Kyle Busch (c) poor strategy."

Nascar determines what truth is, and Nascar reserves the right to revise Webster's Dictionary as needed.

The 99 did that on purpose because it worked in the video game. I blame Biffle.

How can Talladega have multiple "Big One's"? Is Talladega considered a female track?

Does Tony Stewart think by simply driving a Subway sponsored car that he'll lose weight?

Kyle Busch is letting everyone else win, because let's face it, he's just a really nice guy.

H-Man in the house. Now, your not going to go all Hank Williams Jr. on us and end your show halfway through, are you?

I asked the same question about if Jr. had passed Tony what the call would be - and BeaverNut ripped me a new one and said I'm pre-occupied with Jr. Well yeah...if I had his money, his club and his chicks, I wouldn't care less about him.

Do you believe SRMGenius' explanation about the fix being in for Kimbo? Why would they get rid of the only thing that anyone has to talk about in EliteXC?

Yes, I get a little frightened of HR13 jumping out at me when I come around a corner every once in a while, too.

Glad your working on something Top Secret. If it was just Secret, I was going to be pretty pi**ss**ed off.

Hey Han - Missed your insightful thoughts on the Weekly RSO edition. Good to see you back.

bc525....WOW some humorous thoughts indeed! I think that d-low is Hanahan's abbreviation for down low.

Hanahan- Sorry I am so late to comment...still catching up from that wild weekend!

I know for a fact that Jr's wreck in practice was not a tire issue, his rear end mechanic "forgot" to hook up the exhaust after switching over engines...the team and Jr are protecting him. God knows why. So there is one less tire problem to account for.

Top Secret Project eh? You going to make a bid to do NASCAR tires?

Moseby - Didn't mean to rip you...just cannot understand that no matter what happens, everyone seems to conjecture how it would be different with JR in the mix...sorry sorry. You know me, the champion of all that is good...Sheeeeit!

BNut - I know you weren't ripping me, I was just embellishing for the Han Man. I tend to use the "Dale Jr. Standard" in applying how consistent NASCAR applies it rules, policies and procedures. They did the same thing for Dale Sr., Richard Petty and Jeff Gordon.

Have written many times that I like Jr., although not a fan per se. He is a good kid. But let's face it - every situation is different in NASCAR and not every ruling is called the same way. It is comparable to a pitch to Manny Ramirez might be called a ball on a 2-2 count, but to Evan Longoria it might be called a strike.

I couldn't agree with you more...the rules are written in pencil so they can can easily be changed, and they are!
