Thought I'd let you know that I really appreciate the sacrifices, and unconditional love you always gave me. I never told you back when I was a kid. Now I'm telling you publicly, I love you. Sure, I say it at the end of our phone calls, or on a card, but I really do mean it.
You were always the one who had to haul me to my baseball games and practices. You did this while raising my three brothers and one sister too. I know now that you couldn't have had a lot of free time, yet you still made sure I made it to the field. All of this for a smart-aleck kid who wishes that his talent level even approached marginal.
Dad was always working, leaving five kids and a household for you to handle. So, you seldom had time to attend my games, but when you did I was so proud. All the other kids always said I had the prettiest Mom in the stands. I was also very proud of you when the other mothers talked you into playing first base on their softball team. Well, maybe a cross between pride and embarassment, but I was only 11.
Mom, I also wanted to say I'm sorry for any troubles or worries that I've brought you. I'm OK, don't worry about me. Thanks for everything. You're the best mother a guy could have. Happy Mother's Day!
AWWWWWWWWW.Thats sweet hanahan(GENE)..I only wish I could do the same for mine shes been gone since I was 11 but I still appreciate every thing she had done for me..good stuff..
Well said Mr. Hanahan. Just another example of why everyone knows you have so much more class than me - lol. Lost my mom 40 years ago but she was the greatest to me too. Nice work Gene. Glad to call such a nice guy a friend.
JW,
I'm just leaving to go race my dirt car tonight and I'm wearing my lucky pink thong but no pics please. Don't want women everywhere throwing up on their keyboard.
Hanahan! Nice comment all too true in my world as well. Guess I'm a lucky man. I call my mom 2 - 3 times a week. See her at least once a week. More if possible. Life's just too short to not do it! Ya know? Great thoughts on your blog!
Big Hearts in NASCAR!
Hoosier13 Good to see your still out there.
Happy Moms day to all the mother out there!
Dwindy...thanks. I consider that a high compliment, coming from you.
YeeMum...Sorry to hear about your Mom. Great advice, everyone should stay in touch with their Mom. Thanks, and Happy Mom's Day to you. I saw your tatoo explanation, and I lost track of all the kids.8*)
HR13...Sorry to hear about your Mom too. Thanks for being a friend. And, good luck this season. We all want to see some pictures of you in Victory Lane, just so we'll know that you do know what you're talking about. (8^)
Steveo...What did your Dad look like? Mine was always gone off to work. Ya think? Nah. Thanks, dude.
Brad...thanks, man. It's good to stay in touch. A few people that commented here don't have her around to stay in touch with anymore. Like you say, "Life's too short."
Who cares! Just saw him appear on the FREE and HOT celebrity&millionaire dating site ~~~#### ~~~ where you can meet many famous people and beauties. I have met my soul mate there. It is worthy of having a try.
Hanny,
Well as you know, Victory Lane at Friday and Saturday night short tracks is just pulling up under the flag stand and getting your pic taken but I'll share the pic IF I get there. Heck at my age, I'm lucky to remember we run counter-clockwise. I missed three races last year because I got lost on the way and ended up at the wrong track. The only good to come out of this turning 60 thing is I hide my own Easter eggs, wrap my own Christmas gifts, and meet new people every day (and they're my employees).
Hanny,
I was tryihg to delete my account recently to again disappear and I took down my profile and my son's pic but never could delete myself completely. The Hollywood sign pic was taken from the window of my other son's apartment when he first moved to Cali after graduating from Indiana University. He was working for "E" Entertainment at the time. He's since moved to San Fran.
Bottom-line, I still don't know how to remove myself. As for my racing, yeah, this year just dirt. I sold my asphalt car. Of course, at 60, I'm running against a bunch of guys young enough to be my grandsons who have a lot more financial backing but I'll definitely post a pic if/when I get the checker this season. Rained out last night after drivers' meeting but leaving soon to try again tonight. Cheers.
sixfigurefan2,
She'll still be with you this year in spirit and looking down knowing she is loved and missed and in your thoughts on her special day. Blessings.
HR13...Now why would you want to leave this wonderful community? It would be sooo boring around here if you left. I remember watching Ray Hendricks dominate Late Model Sportsman racing in Virginia when he was about 60. Good luck this year.
Nice sentiments about your Mom. Seems like the older you get the more you appreciate your parents. My Mom has had quite a few health challenges this past year, and I am glad she is still here.
